I’ve been helping my clients with their studios, PA systems, and musical instruments for 25 years now. More than half of that time has been right here at Sweetwater. I started working in my local music store when I was 17. By 19, I was an assistant at a studio, working live concerts and playing in my own bands. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with hundreds of musicians, engineers, broadcasters, churches, and schools. Being able to learn from a vast group of talented and technical minds has given me a truly diverse background. I love using this experience to help my clients reach their audio aspirations. Working at Sweetwater has been a rewarding and unique experience. You will find that there is no other place with as many resources to help its customers succeed.

Education/Certifications:
I have a bachelor’s degree in construction science with a minor in sociology. I’m Avid, Apple, and Auralex certified. I also trained under a world-class sound engineer and a luthier for several years.

Where are you from originally?
The great state of Texas. I was born in College Station, Gig’em Aggies! I’ve also lived in Mexico, France, and South Africa.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
I was a live sound engineer and recording engineer. I ran a music store, a restaurant, and many church sound systems.

Recording, Pro Tools, virtual instruments, keyboards, synthesizers, live sound, and church sound.

Instruments you play:
I’ve played keyboards and bass in many original and cover bands. I play the synthesizer, which is quite different from playing keyboards. I also play guitar and have an extensive collection of instruments.

Family info:
My lovely wife, Rachel, graciously lets me keep way too much gear in the house. Daughters Whitney and Violet and son Cole.

Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
I’ve worked with several of our industry’s largest manufacturers to develop sound libraries for the Akai S series samplers, Ensoniq EPS/ASR, and Sony Acid and plug-in presets for AIR virtual instruments. I’ve designed custom acoustic treatment and furniture products for recording studios and churches.

What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
I was a monitor engineer for many years. Some shows go smoothly; others are chaotic with the whole band shouting at you at one time. Either way, you have to juggle several mixes at once, keep your musicians happy, and keep the show going. In many ways, it’s very similar to how we work at Sweetwater.

Brendan is great! I can really talk and relate to him. I’ve learned to trust his opinion and often base my decisions on his feedback more than the feedback of most of my friends.
