Alex Finney
I’ve been a musician almost as long as I can remember doing anything. My dad taught me to play bass at 9 years old because our church needed a bassist. Once I had a taste as a musician it just kept going until I was involved in band and choir, then learning guitar, piano and drums.
I have now been a multi-instrumentalist focusing on guitar for nearly 20 years. That journey has placed me in many musical paths like a vocal music teacher for five years, and a worship pastor for three years, but I am finally working at my Disney World: Sweetwater!
As a Fort Wayne area native, I was lucky enough to grow up and see the impact that Sweetwater had in the music industry locally, and nationally. I am ecstatic to help musicians find the gear that brings them the same kind of awe and joy that I experienced the first time I walked through Sweetwater’s doors.
My expertise in musical knowledge lies in house or worship application, live sound, guitar, bass, and vocal systems. With many years of experience as a musician, educator, and worship leader & pastor I have the expertise to help you find your perfect gear!
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
I was a vocal music teacher where I got to influence the next generation of music makers to chase their passions, and a worship pastor where I was able to lead my church’s music and production teams to effectively worship with excellence.
-
Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
Sharing my love of music has always been my number one passion, and the opportunity to share the enthusiasm I have for my lifestyle with even more people was too good to pass up.

Personal motto:
If you don’t have time to do it right the first time, you don’t have time to do it at all.
-
What did you dream about doing for a living when you were growing up?
I wanted to work in music when I was growing up, but unlike most people I never wanted to be a rockstar. I guess the closest thing would be a music store owner, where I got to teach lessons, and talk shop. Now that’s what I get to do!
-
What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
I have done a lot of work in the music industry on the receiving end of the Sweetwater Difference. I know what it’s like to have those unique needs first-hand, and what it's like when it’s done the Sweetwater way.
