Aaron Hawley
Music has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I grew up in a high school band room with my grandfather being a band director and that's really where my obsession with music really began. From there I became very involved in Musical Theatre, performing in my first show at six years old and I haven't stopped singing since! From there I have performed in dozens of musicals, been in bands and choirs, played in several rock bands, and performed in and led a collegiate a cappella organization.
I realized in high school that I wanted to be a Sales Engineer at Sweetwater, so I decided in order to best prepare me to help customers someday, I wanted to obtain a degree in Music Media Production from Ball State University. This was where my journey as a studio and live sound engineer began and I absolutely fell in love with audio production. There I got experience recording and running live sound for many different styles of music, and before my senior year I was an A/V Technician Intern with an Event Production company. There I learned everything about putting a show together from start to finish and gained experience using top tier professional equipment in Audio, Video, and Lighting. Overall, I am so grateful for all of my experience and the fact that it has led me to being a part of the Sweetwater team!
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

Where are you from originally?
I am originally from a small town called Antwerp, Ohio, right across the state line from Fort Wayne. I grew up coming to Fort Wayne and Sweetwater all the time!
-
Technical strengths:
I have lots of experience in the Live Sound world, working with a variety of different physical and digital mixers, PA systems, and wireless mic rigs. I also have a wealth of studio recording knowledge from my time at Ball State, as well as being a singer and multi-instrumentalist.
-
Instruments you play:
At one point in my life I could have given you a list of 18 instruments! I started as a trumpet player but I was always obsessed with learning new instruments and finding new ways to create. Today, I am primarily a singer, and I regularly play piano and guitar, but I have experience with brass, woodwind, keys, fretted strings, percussion, and I'm always looking to expand my collection!
-
Family info:
I love nothing more than spending time with my family, including my wife Anna, my parents, brother and sister, and my niece.
-
Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
One thing about me is I have way too many hobbies, just to name a few, I'm really into musical theatre, golfing, sports (specifically Miami Dolphins football), LEGOs, Marvel, tech, movies, and video games.
-
Personal motto:
My personal motto is to always give 110% of yourself to everything you do.
-
What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
The biggest thing that's prepared me to help my customers is being a musician and audio engineer myself, so I understand the drive that comes with being a part of that club. That experience in combination with my extensive training both before and since coming to Sweetwater make me the most confident to find the right solutions for my customers.
-
What's the biggest gig you've ever played?
Not a "gig" per se, but the biggest audience I ever performed for was when I played Jean Valjean in Les Miserables for Fort Wayne Summer Music Theatre. Our biggest house for that run was around 700 people and we had very similar headcounts throughout the whole run.

Links to my music
This is the link to my college a cappella group's Spotify page, I sang on our most recent EP release (hear me solo on "Chains X Drag Me Down"!) and was the recording engineer for "Levels" as well as a 15 track album that I am currently working on and will release in the fall of 2026.

This was the first time I used the service of my personal Sales Engineer. Aaron was fantastic! He was helpful, professional and patient. I was looking for wire brushes for a last minute Christmas gift for my son. Aaron had great recommendations and my son was thrilled with the gift. We have been Sweetwater customers for years and really appreciate the personalized service. Thank you!

Absolutely amazed by the personal service on our order! It is obvious customer satisfaction is a priority. Your company would be the first place we would look for music related items. Great prices, great service and BTW, even the little touch of adding some candy made my kids very pleased! Thank you!
