2017 Winter NAMM Rumors: CONFIRMED

Sure, the Holidays are nice, but every musician knows that the real winter magic happens at the annual NAMM Show. This is the music industry’s largest platform for launching new, innovative tech and gear and before the show opens, the Internet lights up with rumors about what we might see. 2017 NAMM predictions are heating up, so we wanted to dig deep and see what we could find out. So what’s the 4-1-1 about the 2017 Winter NAMM Show? Sweetwater has been hard at work separating fact from fiction and here are a few 2017 NAMM rumors we’ve confirmed with our industry partners:

Akai is releasing the first truly standalone MPC in years: TRUE!

mpcx_detail2The MPCX is coming, for $2199. A complete standalone production environment with all the sequencing power and sounds of every MPC ever made, plus a 10.1″ touch screen, 8 audio outs, MIDI and CV, and mic inputs. Not impressed? The new MPCX also features 16GB of RAM, an included 10GB sound library, 24/96 conversion, and the additional ability to record 8 tracks of audio. Seriously, this has to be the most impressive (and probably most anticipated) MPC ever built!

Behringer’s DeepMind12 Synthesizer is only $999?!: TRUE!

Settle down, we know this one’s been out on the web for a little while, but we had the unique opportunity to get our hands on an early production model, and this one is worth raving about more than once. We were truly blown away by it’s build quality, features, and most importantly how unbelievably good it sounds. How could it get any better? They’re starting to ship this month! We scored an early production model of the Behringer DeepMind 12 synth and haven’t been able to put it down.

At last! Antelope made the Orion with Digilink connections?!: TRUE!

Antelope will be announcing the Orion32HD. It’s the Orion we all know and love, with the addition of Digilink inputs for direct connection to ProTools HDX and ProTools HDNative systems. But Antelope didn’t stop there. The Orion32HD’s clocking and conversion are actually an upgrade compared to the already stellar previous model. At $3495, it’s an insanely economical way to get 32 ins and outs for your ProTools HDX/Native system.

Roland has a new line of audio interfaces? TRUE!

Roland will be showing its new Rubix line of interfaces – ruggedly built, small format USB Interfaces that work with Mac/PC/ipad, and include clever features like shielded design, ground lift switches, and a smart minimal led metering system. These interfaces look very promising.
