iConnectivity mioXC 1x1 USB-C MIDI Interface
iConnectivity mioXC 1x1 USB-C MIDI Interface Reviews
The original iConnectivity mio continues to be our go-to solution for quickly capturing MIDI performances in a tracking session or injecting virtual instrument audio into a live PA. Now, iConnectivity has upped the ante with the mioXC. This 1x1 DIN-MIDI interface features USB Type-A and Type-C connectors so as to work with all modern PC and Mac workstations. The mioXC's ultra-low latency round trip is powered by a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex processor. This makes the mioXC an ideal solution for monitoring virtual instruments in a live or recording environment. And because the mioXC is Class-Compliant, it's compatible with all with your favorite iPad and iPhone music apps (requires optional Apple USB Camera Adapter). And of course, any Android device with a USB-C port is supported as well. Need to quickly capture 16 channels of MIDI I/O? Look no further than the iConnectivity mioXC USB-MIDI interface from Sweetwater.
Just one speed bump, then it's a breeze
My daughter and I are using this to connect an old Yamaha P-90 electric piano to our laptops (flavors of MacBook Pro) as a MIDI controller for GarageBand (and, eventually I suppose, more sophisticated software, but let's start at the beginning). Worked like a charm once I figured out (from two other reviews posted here) that the "In" plug needs to go in the piano's "Out" port and vice versa. The other way doesn't work at all (silent failure). After that, the whole point of this is to get out of the way and let you use the other tools you're connecting with it, which it does.
Great support!
I had trouble finding the right type of cable needed for a MIDI connection with my new computer. They allowed me to return several cables, at their expense, until we found the right one. Hunter- their support guy, was absolutely terrific in assisting me and making things work. Sweetwater is a first class company. Thx, Hunter!
Good help
Very helpful—and patient in working out my situation-i had no knowledge in how i was going to get my keyboard music transfered onto my computer-and the exact sound i wanted-it was achieved—thanks andrew
Excellent Midi Solution
I have the older version of this, the one that is just USB-A not USB-C.
This thing works great without drivers on Mac and also works well with an MPC, I haven't tried it with anything else.
You have to connect the "out" midi DIN to your keyboards "in" and the "in" to your keyboards "out". That part was a little confusing.
Also note that this is mainly for connecting to your computer (or a device like the new MPCs that do midi over USB).
If you are trying to connect a midi keyboard to another midi keyboard (sometimes I control my Vox Continental 73 with my Arturia) then you may want to consider using standard midi cables, or check to make sure that one of the keyboards can do midi over USB.
It works
When upgrading to OS Monterey, midisport stopped working. I-connectivity did the job.
This Interface Worked for Me
Okay, this is cool.
I grabbed the mioXC so I could use it with my Mac (which only has USB-C ports) and an old E-Mu sampler that only has DIN MIDI ports. It works perfectly with SysEx dumps and dense MIDI streams and I like the little USB-C to USB-A dongle that lets me plug the interface into my Windows box as well.
SImple MIDI connectivity
This is a simple interface that allows me to connect my old Roland Octapad SPD-20 (1998) to my computer so I can use it to trigger sounds on my computer. I had tried a cheaper cable and had little luck. After talking to a Sweetwater tech, I decided that this was the right choice for me. It works great and natively has a USB-C connector!
