Great for home studio and the wireless Bluetooth is very nice. Download Korg Bluetooth connect and you're set. Pretty simple.

Works Perfectly

By Sweetwater Customer

My laptop died but I had just gotten an iPad with the M1. So it works seamlessly through Bluetooth. I'm very happy with the results.

Revising Review--Work Better Than My Brain--Haha

By Mark N. from Tryon, NC

Problem with iOS connectivity was my failure to install the Korg Bluetooth Midi Connect app--now the controller works great with iOS 14. No detectable latency and a decent key feel for the price. Great for my specific use, setting a keyboard on my floor tom and then being able to quickly move it off when I'm not using it.

Korg Microkey Air Bluetooth and iOS 13/14--Inoperable?

By Marco N. from Western NC

Seems like a nicely made keyboard for the money but a warning to anyone who wants to use it with modern versions of iOS--after updating to the most recent firmware (1.04) it doesn't show up as an available Bluetooth device. I was specifically looking for something to use without a cabled connection and this doesn't seem to do that--just wanted to share my experience with anyone else looking to do the same thing.

IOS Only

By Sweetwater Customer

Im giving 1 star because Korg was not clear that this is for Apple and PC only. In a world where everyone is primarily split up between android or apple phones, and the portable point of this cotroller, I believe that Korg should be more specific with this information. This microkey air Does Not function with android software...period.

Love it

By Sweetwater Customer

Connecting to my iPad was very easy. Set up with garage band, launchkey, and groovebox was as simple as pushing a button in the app. Once I connected to one of them it stayed connected even when I switched apps. The latency is so low that I was really able to get in the groove and make some great sound. The keys felt nice for being unweighted. The only hardware complaint I have is that the pitch wheel is a tiny bit too stiff, although it didn't pose any problem while using it.

The instruction manual tells you to download a third party app that allows you to use the microKey with apps that don't have native support for Bluetooth midi. I couldn't get it to work.

Just what I needed

By Craig from California

I wanted a MIDI keyboard for entering notes into my music notation program, because I was tired of trying to haul my computer over and balance it on my full size keyboard. This little gem works great for that. I debated whether to get the 2 octave or the 3 octave version, and settled on the 3 octave version so I wouldn't have to be shifting octaves all the time. And I'm glad I did. If you intended to use it for performance, you might or might not like the smaller keys on it, but for entering notes in a notation program it's perfect. And the small size makes it portable so you can take it to your computer, instead of the other way around. The USB connection is the large size, so it is more robust. Haven't tried the bluetooth connection yet. Seems handy, but I'm sticking with USB for now.

No Support/Connection For Windows 10?

By Sweetwater Customer

It sounds ideal for me, wireless, low latency and skinny (can easily sit on my dektop with my computer keyboard). But after a week of trying to connect it to Windows 10 via bluetooth AND USB, it just won't connect. I assume the other reviewers have Macs. Sweetwater tech support has been in contact with Korg for me but they haven't heard anything back which makes me think this device has a serious WIndows connection problem. Even the included instructions suggest this was first designed for Macs as there is little mention of Windows and it looks like the Windows driver on Korg's site was just posted. I hate being their guinea-pig and will have to return it until they assure me it works with Windows 10.

A little for a lot!

By John from Germantown, Mayland

I've written many reviews on the equipment I've purchased from Sweetwater. Almost all get "5 stars, blown away, by it!" reviews. This one, gotta say it has some great and some ok, and some, 'what its missing and thumbs down for the software". So what is great is this thing is extremely portable and the Bluetooth work's great! The battery life for 2 AA batteries is absolutely remarkable. I've owned this item for two weeks and still using the same batteries I first installed. KORG says 30 hours of battery life, I think it's actually more than that. What the items are badly missing is preset up and down buttons and a volume fader. It could also use maybe three rotary controller knobs on it that can be assigned to any cc number required by the synthesizer you are controlling on your iPad/iPhone. There is room for these to be included and what gets me is KORG included a foot switch plug on it which is awesome, and the last "gift" item I would have expected on something so tiny, portable and light. The software is pathetic for anyone who is a pro keyboard artist, performer, composer. They give you "Le" versions of DAWs and software you most likely already own as full versions, like Cubase Pro 8, Live Studio, and the KORG Module Le is free to anyone who wants the app.I already own the M1 app, so there was nothing provided to me as an "extra bonus". software wise. If you are a beginner with no professional DAWs, this would work for you because it let's you in the door to purchase Cross Grades or updates to get to the higher versions of these software titles. Be careful. I try to get every penny out of everything I buy, so be careful, because all I received from logging in and downloading one synth VST, was a stripped ILok, that fortunately I was able to restore, but it was scary! The piece looks and feels like it should be no more than $40.00. The price of $120 is way overboard, but as a player and purchaser of synths for over forty two years, I have alway's said the two highest over priced manufacturers are KORG and Moog, although I started with an $1200 Minimoog back in 1973,and now own a Kronos88, so that make's this easy to wrap up. Sometimes you pay more for the equipment on the cutting edge of technology. Certainly my Minimoog and Kronos qualify as state of the art and when all you have to do is flip the switch 'on" to play real keys and use your entire iPad or iPhone for programming, instead of using the fake keys on those IOS devices is a real nice thing to have. The real key to whether you should buy something or not us how much are you going to use it. I am using this Bluetooth tiny keyboard all the time. I never leave the studio without it and for that, I say, buy it, even though it's missing the items I mentioned above. I am positive the new release next year will have at least the preset up/down buttons and most likely volume as well. They do provide a mod wheel and pitch wheel as well as the keyboard pedal on this model. I use the pitch and mod wheels all the time, but not the keyboard pedal input because I'm using this when I am lying in bed, or in a car. I like the 37 key version and I like the mini keys feel. KORG has always provided quality on every item I have ever purchased from them. So if you got the money, go for it. You will enjoy the wireless playing ability more than you probably think!

Great traveling companion for either computer or iPad

By David H. from New Hampshire, USA
Music Background: Performer, teacher, composer/arranger, conductor

The build quality is great -- very solid feel to this unit, good contact made when depressing the keys. It can be used as bluetooth for cable-free connection, or there is a USB (type B) port which can be used for a cabled connection should that be more desirable. Having 3 complete octaves is a huge improvement for entering music for notation software (which is what I use it for mostly) compared to 2-octave units where I find I'm constantly switching octaves. This is rugged enough that it could be used in live performance situations although the small keys which make it great for travel might be hard to work with in performance for people used to full size keys. The mod wheel and pitch-bend work wonderfully, and there is also a sustain-pedal connector. This is an ideal keyboard for my needs, and for the features that are included for the price, it's a great bargain!
