My previous interface broke and Aric recommended this item as a upgrade, what a difference! I recommend this for anyone who loves to sing or play and wants bold, beautiful sound!

AWESOME AUDIO QUALITY AND PORTABLE

By Tim Fitzwater from Nitro, WV on December 11, 2017 Music Background: Guitarist

I don't know why I waited so long to write this. I have used this for the past year, and I am still amazed at the sound quality of the Pro Duo. I Use it primarily with an iPhone 6s+ for solo acoustic guitar videos.

Versatile With Stunning Sound for Cell Phone Movies

By Tom Lee from North Hollywood, California on February 27, 2017 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter, Member of Big Daddy'59, Home Studio

I'm just scratching the surface on this great piece of equipment...

My quest was simply to find a product that can deliver direct high quality audio while shooting video on an android cell phone. At first, my sales person was confused when I told him what I was trying to do, as he wasn't sure of potential compatibility issues with my equipment. He stayed with me, did the digging, and helped me find my solution! I can't say enough about the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff at Sweetwater.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which has a superior camera, but as with all cell phones, lousy audio. This little gizmo does the trick! I've tested it with a Neuman TLM 103 Condenser Microphone, a Blue Baby Bottle Condenser Microphone, and a Sure Beta 58A Dynamic Microphone, all with excellent results.

By the way, I did not notice the whine described by the previous reviewer. There are a few seconds of hum when the Phantom Power switch is initially turned on or off, but to me, this is not a problem at all.

I will be using this primarily for mobile recordings to create cell phone videos with great audio quality. This tool does much much more, and can record on just about any device. It comes with some very cool aps, and 5 connecting cables! (but no power supply)

This is the first preamp I have purchased for this purpose, and I consider myself lucky.

Buy this with confidence!

Almost perfect. Doesn't power your iPad

By Brian from Cincinnati on March 5, 2019 Music Background: Singer Songwriter - Amateur

Note - I use this with an iPad + Garage Band. Originally purchased the iRig Pro I/O, but wanted a second channel. The Pro Duo is great. Was able to record voice & guitar simultaneously via separate channels into GarageBand on an iPad, while using headphones to monitor all the while. The second channel is a big step up over the I/O, which is also a great piece of gear. The Duo falls short of perfection because of the power supply. The Duo uses the same supply as a standard guitar pedal. While the Pro I/O uses a different type of power supply, it will also charge your iPad - the Pro Duo does not. As in all things you make tradeoffs. So, as it stands - I cannot charge the iPad AND record at the same time. I suspect there is yet another adapter, plug, cable that I would have to add into this mix to achieve that - but DANG this was soooo close!

Great

Great mobile interface for recording on IOS devices
Only bad thing I would have to say is that it doesn"t come with a power adapter. Comes with batteries but a single set of AA will only last about 2 hours of constant use... I purchased a universal power adapter but it wouldn"t work with it, so you are stuck with buying IK"s for a separate charge or change batteries a lot

iRig Pro

Way over priced… It does do what I wanted which is output to MIDI. That's all it does for me.

older Ipad

By Kristian Pallone from Florida on August 9, 2017 Music Background: musician

This unit is ok has a good sound but if you have older model ISO devices that still work great and has all your music - guess they want to upgrade as the cable is not provided.

Decent with strange issue

By Sweetwater Customer on December 4, 2016

The unit by itself or with a guitar works ok. It's a bit noisy with a guitar, but not horribly. The problem comes when you use the included condenser mic. It requires phantom power, which the interface provides. But the instant you plug in the mic, a loud, annoying whine comes in. You can hear the box making the noise physically. It also comes through the heaphones (not that it's picked up by the mic). The mic works fine if I plug it into a Focusrite interface. The iRig Duo Pro works fine if I use a different condenser mic.

Oh, another thing. When I plug in the iRig mic, the MIDI light goes solid red. And there's no midi cables plugged in. There's plenty of power.

Does not occur when you power it from USB off a laptop. But using the lightning cable, even with fresh batteries in it... WHINNNNNNNE.

The interface alone costs more than I paid, so many I'll just use a dynamic mic if I go mobile. The thing is... I got it solely for mobile use. I have a nice Focusrite interface (same price, but not a kit) that is much better than this iJunk.

No good.

Great device (I assume) but the apps created for it from IK Multimedia are garbage and do not work. Check out reviews for the apps- they are having development problems with IPhones is my guess. Disappointed and took it back.

IRig ProDUO

By Bobby Grimes from Hawaii on May 21, 2017

Unrelenting noise, humming, whining and we have ride every type of switch and new batteries, and no way around this terrible noise. Need to return this. I read the reviews but tried it, and my Pro brother even came over and tried everything, but we thing it stinks.
Sadly.

I gave it a chance TWICE

By David W from Michigan on March 11, 2017 Music Background: Worship leader

The first irig pro duo is bought did not work at all. So I returned it and got a new one. Since then I have been going back and forth with IK Multimedias support about an issue with the Phantom power not working at all. They have continue to insult my intelligence and blame the multiple devices, apps and software I've tried. I've used android, laptops, tablets, macbook and even my imac. I've done firmware updates and fresh betteries. I'm just bummed and just want to record some music. $200 down the drain. Ik multimedia and there customers service has failed. I've been patients but I'm going to post reviews where ever I can. Don't buy IK Multimedia Ijunk.
