VERY COOL!

By Denny Jiosa from Nashville on August 12, 2020 Music Background: Jazz/rock musician/ producer

I am using the Blueboard in a MIDI guitar rig. It is communicating perfectly with my iPad and the apps associated with the program. I am very pleased with it's performance! Thank you Sweetwater for your help!

Pedal for SongbookPlus App and Korg PA1000

By Larry Roberts from Scottsdale, AZ on March 3, 2020 Music Background: Accordion, keyboardist, vocals

This pedal is so easy to setup with SongbookPlus App on the iPad for page turning, etc. My second pedal purchased. Use second one to control Korg PA1000 style parts. Use it in my shows, connects easily. Selects the next song and keeps my hands off the Korg PA1000 controls. Gives more focus on performing.

Perfect for Songbook+ app

By Larry R. from Scottsdale,AZ on December 16, 2019 Music Background: Accordion, keyboard, vocals

I like the simplicity of using this to control page turn, song selection and play next song...etc...easy to setup and has been a great pedal for the past year doing a 6 night a week gig.

Compact and reliable

By Itzhak Yaron from Los Angeles on September 20, 2017 Music Background: A serious amateur song writer composer

I am new to Ik multimedia . Saw a presentation in NAAM SHOWNIN ANNAHEIM 2016 I was astonished from the time that jamming Musician's peoduced live with those smal miniature devices.
The foot switch is reliable and easily programable. I could use it on page flipping with my iPad and the wonderful fender package that sounds great.
I use it in my recording studio.

Cool unit

By Sweetwater Customer on July 24, 2018

This thing is easy to connect and easy to use only drawback is our batteries and plastic. Don"t stomp on it too hard. But besides that it"s absolutely works flawlessly.

Almost perfect!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 26, 2018

Works as intended. I use it as a foot switch between patches in Sunday guitar main stage 3. Just wish it had a audible click or feel when the patches are switched, then it would be perfect!

Works perfectly, everything is as advertised

By fprintf from USA on February 10, 2018

I think this little MIDI pedal is fantastic. It is lightweight, works off of batteries and hooked up to my iPad/computer within seconds of turning it on. Nowadays the version that comes doesn't need a firmware update so it doesn't even need to use the Blueboard app if you don't want to (I didn't want to).

If you are using this without the app then you will need to follow the instructions on how to get it to send regular MIDI notes or control changes.

This pedal board works perfectly with my various loopers, with Quantiloop Pro being able to use it right out of the box without any configuration, and others such as Loopy HD needing a bit of training to get it working. There are plenty of tutorials all over the web.

The only thing that would make it better would be if the pedals were a little more tactile, it is hard to tell when you've pressed it. I took off my shoes and it was better playing in socks but still I think it is a valid critique that it is hard to feel what you are doing.

Works after A lot of frustration!!!!

By Anthony Marciniak from MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ on February 17, 2022

I initially wrote a scathing review about this product and how it does not work. After several hours of messing with it, I got it to function. My major concern was trying to use this with the looper that comes with amplitude 4. The install instructions tell you to download the "Blueboard" app and get it to sync with the controller. Every time I did this, it would connect and sync but the buttons did not work correctly. I would need to hit the A button 2x's to get it to record. 2x to start playback and then 2x's again to stop the loop. Well to my astonishment, synching with the app is only needed if you are going to have the board control other MIDI programs outside of Amplitube
4. Once I stopped using the Blueboard app and synched the board within Aplitube… it works perfectly. Shame on IK for not being a bit explicit. I get why you need the app, but it should be clearer as to what circumstances you need to use the app. Lesson learned.

iRig Blueboard

By Ken Cooper from CA on April 5, 2017 Music Background: guitarist/singer/producer/composer/engineer

I have set up presets for my acoustic guitars and my electric guitars in Amplitube for IOS.
The BlueBoard makes switching presets and changing banks effortless for live use. It's small size and light weight make it easy to carry in a pocket on my guitar bag. The BlueBoard app makes it easy to connect and customize your setup. Plugging an expression pedal into the BlueBoard allows you to control selected
perimeters within a preset in real time.
There is a momentary delay when changing presents to compensate for and you have to change batteries at some point but those small complaints aside I am totally pleased with the BlueBoard.
I haven't explored this yet but the BlueBoard can be used with other bluetooth compatible applications
in the studio or elsewhere.

Awesome with iPad and Amplitube

By Nicholas Foard from Sarasota, FL on August 19, 2014 Music Background: Home studio musician

Received the Blueboard, put batteries in, installed the software on the iPad and it found the board right away. Opened Amplitube and Configured my pedals to turn on and off with the footswitches. Perfect! Then if you change the mode of the midi messages to control messages you can use the 4 pedals to switch between your Amp Combo presets in Amplitube, great for when you want to go from heavy to clean really quickly. Haven't had a single issue with the pedal with connection. Just make sure that your Ipad is compatible as this board uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Great Vlaue

By Joe Davis on July 20, 2014 Music Background: Professional for the last 12 years.

I gig three nights a week and use my iPad Mini in conjunction with Onsong for my set lists, lyrics and chord progressions. It's a little confusing at first but after watching the tutorial on YouTube I was able to set it up and it works perfect and I've had no trouble with it during a gig. Buy it and you won't be sorry.

Almost

By Nelson on November 26, 2018

It"s fantastic. I hope next generations of Bluetooth controllers include at least one expression pedal in the same unit. Should be constructed in metal also and have a lithium rechargeable battery. I use it live with mainstage and I can say it"s amazing to control your gig without cables at all. I connect my guitar and my voice wireless to the interface, no cables at all.
But the unit should have some knobs, and one expression pedal included, that would be the perfect controller.

Needs some help

By Sweetwater Customer on April 29, 2015

Used with I pad and I phone. Always connects with the Blue Board app and works as expected with inter-app operations. Problem is the lack of feed back from the buttons. They are almost at surface level and have no click and little travel. If you look at them and toe tap works OK. I use it playing keyboard and have limited board visibility . I found it necessary to extend the height of each button to make it work for me. This makes it look like any other guitar pedal stomp box which iRig should have done in the first place. Don't think I would buy again without looking for different controller. Like the Bluetooth idea but the physical interface is lacking.

Not currently supported with Apple Mac Silicon (M1/M2)

By Kris Parsons from Phoenixville, PA on August 10, 2023

Important to note for Apple users - this item is NOT currently compatible with Silicon M1/M2 chips natively. The manufacturer reports they are "diligently at work to resolve" but there has not been an install package for MacOS since 2014. There are some work arounds to connect via MIDI over Bluetooth if you search the internet however you will not be able to use the company's native software.

Not Usable for modern Macs

By Daniel on July 23, 2019

The Blueboard appears to work fine with IOS but using the Mac version of the Blueboard App on a Mojave Mac the pedalboard is never detected and can't connect. The last time the app was updated was years ago to solve compatibility problems with Yosemite. Based on testing with my Macs around the house it appears that the Blueboard app does detect the pedalboard on High Sierra but not on Mojave. Tech support offered a convoluted solution that involves turning the unit on in MIDI Mode, going into the Mac AudioMIDI utilty to force the computer to connect via Bluetooth, then switching back to Native mode to use the Blueboard App. The problem is that this solution is not persistent - you have to repeat the steps each time you go to use the Blueboard, which make this useless in a live performance setting. If IK Multimedia is not inclined to support this product under MacOS they should stop marketing it as a Mac-compatible product.

Great Idea, but has some bugs

By Topher Berg from Flagstaff, AZ on January 13, 2014 Music Background: Worship Pastor

I fell in love with the concept so I pre-ordered one before they came out. I wanted something to work with my Mac and Mainstage playing live. However, not realizing you have to have a newer mac with Bluetooth 4.0 to make it work. But that didn't stop me. I bought a USB Bluetooth 4.0 dongle and it does work. But I had to fiddle with it to talk to Mainstage the way I want it to. Plus you can't save the settings in the Bluetooth app. You have to change them every time I open the the Bluetooth connect app. I thin I was expecting too much from a $99 app.

Does NOT WORK like it's supposed to with ANY APP!!!!

By Justin Smith from Chaparral, NM on October 9, 2021

Piece of JUNK!!! Buy something else. I've been dealing with this **** for YEARS now and I'm about to break this thing in half!

Terrible product, zero support

By William Hatch from Tully, NY on July 26, 2020

if you're considering this for use with a Mac, save yourself some serious aggravation and bail on the idea now. It does NOT work with later Macs. Furthermore, IK Multimedia support is non existent, aside from user community. Don't do it.

VERY limited and NOT for keyboard players

By Vocalead from Los Angeles, CA on March 13, 2018 Music Background: Professional singer, producer, guitar and Synth player

So this thing was made mainly to be used with apple products, such as iPhones, iPads and Macs, but guess what? the latest firmware for the device is only available through Windows computers! There is no firmware updater application for Mac, couldn't make it work even through Parallels using a Mac and Windows 7... no work-arounds, trust me, I'm very tech savvy.

Worst part, it's been like this for years (check the forums), people have been complaining about it since 2014. IK has a long history of abandoning support for their products, happened with the iRing, the Vocalive app and now this, which I really thought was one of their best sellers.

Why is this important you ask? Well, for starters, with the factory firmware the device buttons will only latch (push once to turn on, push again to turn off). Good enough for virtual stomps, but that means pedals that require momentary switching like pitch-shift pedals, or even Sustain pedals (either for guitar or keys) are just not an option for you, buttons will still latch.

If you do manage to update the firmware, you can't have both momentary and latch switches at the same time. You also can't have both CC and Program Change buttons at the same time, it's either one or the other. This will limit you a lot when it comes to versatility and uses with your pedal. Better brands and products out there, this one's just not worth your money.

Horrible support - waiting more than two months for Yosemite support

By Jim from Toronto on December 24, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

Worked great controlling my Amplitube app and Capo on my Mac, until upgraded to Yosemite OS in October. Now get complete runaround from Tech Support, vague responses, no commitments, no dates, just "Certainly working on this, will let you know", and then close the ticket. Been more than two months and no fix. Currently a $100 doorstop.

Not read for prime time

By Woody Reed from Encino, CA on November 16, 2013

Great concept, but poor functionality. v1 of the software doesn't allow for storage of your settings, so you have to reselect from scratch each time you pair the pedal with the mac. And it defaults to ALL midi channels. Ok that's a pain, but doable. However, dropping bluetooth connection in a performance sucks. And that happened first time I used it, rendering it useless. My computer (brand new MBPro) was maybe 10 feet away and unobstructed. If it looses connection, why can't it just pair itself back like any other BT device would? Instead and error page comes up on the screen.

Again, great idea and one of kind product at the moment. However, I'd recommend staying away until it functions properly. Probably a software update would fix things.
