Why SweetWater Matters
I bought an Akai MPC Studio 2 controller on Amazon and had no idea what I was getting into. After learning that I would require consistent internet access to operate the device i came across an internet add for SweetWater. I called and was directed to an actual living breathing sales Pro about my product and such. He educated me about the use of the ilok peripheral. Literally yesterday I was asked to leave a review for the Akai I mentioned from Amazon. I'm not in the business of bashing anyone but in my product review I shared that technical devices shouldn't be sold by companies who have no knowledge about what they sell, I dropped SweetWaters name because I wanted to help others experience the difference between a website that sells stuff, and an actual company who knows about the product. Thanks SweetWater, you've restored my faith in the power of small businesses and something I forgot about which is knowledgeable staff, and real customer service!

Overall Fantastic Product.
I recently purchased the USB-C version of the iLok key and I have to say, I love it. It's sleek, extremely well built, and overall excellent quality. It's incredibly quick and easy to use. Highly recommend it.
It does what it should
Nothing much to say other than it does what it's supposed to do. 5 stars because I've had no issue with it. Works great.
Dongle
Every update before the dongle was a problematic quagmire. With the help of SweetCare, I'm up and running again. I recently did an update. It was seamless. With the help of SweetCare I'm up and running again.

Not a lot to say about a protection key other than it works as expected. Had to buy this because the DAW I was using and the associated plugins were setup on iLOK cloud and whenever iLOK cloud was having issues I couldn't use my DAW. So here I am buying a lock so I can use my software in a reliable fashion.
Worst company
When your ilok has random issues (it eventually will) and you need to transfer your licenses, they'll charge a phenomenal fee. When you reach out to customer support, you'll only be met with computer generated responses. You'll end up wanting to rip your hair out. It's truly sad this is forced upon recording studios by so many plugin manufacturers, it's a failed platform

I have tried iLok multiple times over the years, and each time took it off my system. Sadly, I have to report the same for this attempt. While I got everything to work, it is really disheartening when you get a warning that installing the iLOK Manager and then changing the hardware in your computer could lead to a permanent installation condition with no way back. Are you kidding me? Who owns my computer---me or iLOK?
I installed iLOK, then evaluated a plug-in that was only available with iLOK, pulled it all off (using uninstall program) and got rid of both.
