Audient iD4 MKII 2 x 2 USB-C Audio Interface
Audient iD4 MKII 2 x 2 USB-C Audio Interface Reviews
Audient’s original iD4 had the audio industry rethinking what an entry-level audio interface could offer. Now, with the Audient iD4 MKII, Audient’s Little Interface That Could is an even better value for home and mobile music producers. Packing large-format console performance into a sleek desktop chassis, the Audient iD4 MKII fortifies your studio with one of Audient’s renowned Class A console mic preamps — the very same found in Audient’s ASP8024-HE recording console — along with an analog JFET DI stage to authentically capture the depth and dimension of your guitar or accompaniment instrument. We at Sweetwater are pleased to report that this latest version of Audient’s iD4 packs even better audio conversion, zippy USB 3.0 transmission speeds, and a future-looking USB-C connection for greater compatibility with modern laptops and tablets. Two studio-grade headphone outputs and a console-style monitor control supply trustworthy track monitoring and audiophile music reproduction. Then there’s Audient’s intuitive ScrollControl virtual scroll wheel, which lets you use the iD4 MKII’s big volume knob to tweak DAW and plug-in parameters and even dim your monitor output on command. Also new for MKII is Audient’s fully loaded ARC software suite, which gives you instruments, cab sims, plug-in FX, and Steinberg’s Cubase/Cubasis LE3 desktop and mobile DAWs upon product registration. Take it from recording engineers at Sweetwater: the Audient iD4 brought major value to the home and mobile studio. And with Audient’s iD4 MKII USB-C audio interface, there’s even more to love in this little box.

Clean audio
I am a ceremony singer and have been performing live for 7 years. I just recently got into recording and purchased this last week to use for my demos. The build and audio quality on this unit is incredible. It is also user friendly and compatible with IPad OS which is perfect if you're someone like me who does not have a laptop. I highly recommend this interface. The mic I use with it is the Lewitt MTP W950. Shout out to those guys as well.
Love this little box
Really good product
I love the simplicity of this audio interface and it's a great quality product.
Excellent trade up from 2i2 Gen 3
I've been using the Scarlett Solo 3G up to now but it recently became problematical, drop outs and scratchy pots so time for an upgrade.
iD4 is one heck of a step up!
Easy to use and a lot of new features that I will have to spend some time with.
The setup was easy and love how easy it is to use with the controls on the top surface.
On board Mouse/Scroll control for enabled apps looks very interesting
It works well on my MacBook Pro for traveling as it is small and light enough to just pop in and go.
Strong, sturdy, and Audient has a pro reputation from their ASP console line
Just buy it. It's absolutely wonderful and I can't fault it.
Audio quality is phenomenal.
Handles my microphone brilliantly and sounds great when I'm producing music.
Fantastic product
Everything you need to start recording at home, including software.
I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic starter choice
This audio interface is brilliant and I see why everyone speaks highly of it.
Making music is FUN and iD4 is a key part of this
About Customer Service
worst firmware I've ever seen
You can buy a $ focusrite and have direct monitoring out of the box or you can go with the winners at audient and the firmware literally won't work (it's stuck on Initialising 3 every time you try opening it) and their IT support will get back to you in 3 weeks with no solutions.
Great interface
I traded up from focusrite. The audient sounds better to me
Simple to use and rock solid build
My best purchase this year
Five stars plus, all round!
big wide sound
I traded up from a focusrite solo gen 3. The audient sounds way better to me
Excellent product and easy to use
Really easy to use, with high quality results.
The 'blend' knob that allows monitoring between my guitar input and my DAW is genius
Much cleaner than my 2i2 Gen2
My first interface - iD4 Mk2 is an excellent choice
Minimal setup for beginners like me
Clean and details recordings with loop back a must have feature.
The ID scroll mouse dial is versatile, came in handy with DAW enabled plug ins.
This shows how clever the Audient engineers are, there's always some cool additional features that the competition doesn't seem to have.
They seem to think beyond the box and that's super cool
Simple plain, great audio with good monitoring capability.
Buy
Great choice
Plug and play no need to download drivers, plus am satisfied with its professional quality sound
5 star all the way
For the price this unit is far the best
Very well built easy to use and sounds great.
As singer, songwriter it's perfect for me with one Mic input and one Di, gives fantastic results.
This audio interface is brilliant and I see why everyone speaks highly of it.
Overdelivers in every respect
Replaced a failed interface with iD4.
No looking back,Audient is a class above anything I've used so far.
Console pre, stellar conversion and such a simple interface to use.
Di is not slouch either
Buy with confidence,I did
My go to portable interface
USB bus powered, high definition sound capture and rock solid to throw in my portable rig bag
MBP + iD4 + P420 and I'm out of the door
Exceptional
Great audio interface for streaming and simple home recording
Feels solid, well made and simple to use
Great product, great advice Sweetwater
Great and Easy to Use with Neural DSP Plug-Ins
This is my first interface and using Neural DSP plug-in's for guitar. Works great, sound is good and easy to use with my MacBook. Michael Eads hasn't steered me wrong yet and I only buy my stuff from Sweetwater. That 2 year warranty is awesome and their tech support is awesome too. Had to call to get advice on how to get low latency and problem solved in 3 minutes!
I like this little interface
Definitely hear the difference coming from a Focusrite 2i2 to this new Audient. My playback audio is very clean and my recording input is very clean, maybe even too clean for some types of songs. Nonetheless it is worth purchasing!
Now I Love it!
I was experiencing continuous disconnection from my Mac once it went to sleep. I would have to unplug and plug it in again to reconnect the interface. I got tired of it and I was about ready to give up and return it, but I decided to try something before ditching it, I upgraded the connector cable to an "overkill" USB-C4, 40Gbps data cable (ridiculous, I know) that I had in my computer leftover parts box...
I have never again gotten disconnected since. So now I can confidently say that I love this interface, and with that cable upgrade, I highly recommend it. (I still don't understand why the cable that came with it was not enough). For those who may be struggling with the same issue, I would encourage you to upgrade your cable...
Loving this little beast!
do not be fooled by the price point, this unit could easily have been sold for much more! The loopback feature alone make it worth its weight in gold. Highly Recommend this product for a mobile, sturdy, bus powered set up. Conversion is awesome with my Slate VSX headphones. Have not tested the mic preamps but from what I have heard, they are solid. Audient really delivered on this product, I will be exploring more of their products in the future.
Cost performance ratio
The Loopback feature works flawlessly—that alone is worth the price of this box. Great cost-performance ratio.
Big step up from 2i2
This audio interface is brilliant and I see why everyone speaks highly of it.
It's built using metal and really gives this thing the feel of durability.
Set up was a breeze. Very easy, just plug it in and download the software from their website
Audio quality is phenomenal. Handles my microphone brilliantly and sounds great when I'm producing music.
Knobs on the top surface so no more trying to figure out where I was on my 2i2
The mouse 'scroll' control is kinda cool
The Control Panel software for the Interface is clear to use. Very easy and straightforward.
In summary,iD4 Mk2 is really about the sound the ADDA delivers,a massive step forward.
Fun times !
Market leader by far
This is the hands-down the best audio interface I have used.
I do professional voice overs and people can't tell the difference from when I used to use a $2,500 pre-amp, to this much cheaper and affordable one.
Love that all the controls are on the top surface so very easy to see knob settings and what's going on meter wise etc
I strongly recommend this, over any other one no matter what the cost.
Shipping was a day sooner than expected.
Well done Audient for designing such a great tool and for Sweetwater's service
Works great, reviews are dead right
Delivers way beyond it's mid level price point
love the DI
For the price this unit is far the best out there
iD4 Mk2 is real solid and well built, easy to use and sounds great.
Perfect for my songwriting 'notepad',one console grade Mic input and DI input and simple controls
For a solo musician it is perfect and gives fantastic results.
Audient iD4 rocks
Had my iD4 Mk2 for around 3 months now so checking in my thoughts
Great sound, clean signal and ADDA that reveals every little detail
Easy to setup and use
Simple as that !
I think this iD4 Mk2 deal is a steal
Audient's iD4 Mk2 records very high quality sound and makes recording very easy
Easy to set up,get going and very simple to operate
A very good piece of equipment to purchase at a very affordable price
I would recommend this to those who create music in a home studio
Audient iD4
I was looking for a professional audio interface for on the go that should really only be able to do one thing: sound good and Audient's iD4's console mic pre really delivers and at a really affordable price.
Absolute buy recommendation on my part!
Audient iD4
This is a great product. Great upgrade from my Avid M-Box mini. Also great customer service from Sweetwater, Tyler is awesome!! Thanks!
Perfect for me and my spoken words – many of them!
I'm a newbie but an extremely particular, fussy, demanding one, annoyingly so. Last fall I began the hunt for a high-quality mic and interface for recording radio stories and an audiobook trilogy. Many weeks of research led me to the Austrian Audio OC18 mic and the Audient ID4 MkII. The combination is stunning – wonderful rich, clear tones, and, to my ears, a silent audio chain. Using the Audient is uncomplicated, and the controller feature (which lets you adjust settings in the DAW via a large knob on the Audient) is slick. This combination is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive, but I can't imagine wanting anything else. It's SWEET!
It's an Audient, what more do I need to say ?
This was my first audio interface... after scouring numerous reviews on similar rated and priced interfaces, I went with the Audient iD4
The sound clarity it provides is outstanding. Also it's a really straightforward thing to use. Looks great as well.
Can't really beat this interface
Totally value for money with great sounding pre amps , it can drive 2 600 ohm headphones , crazy good!
If you are looking for audio interface around this price range , go for it 100% recommended!
Did not expected the huge difference in AD-DA over my previous interface
I was shocked by the improvement in the detail of the sound and the iD4's all metal build quality.
Rock solid
A big step forward.
Great little interface,5/5
I loved the sound quality as soon as I plugged in and played a song.
It has a metalwork finish that blends right into my Mac Book Pro based workflow
Lovely preamp, Audient calls them "console grade' and it seem to be a major step up from my Focusrite SOLO
The dual headphone socket will be an added advantage and the digital conversion is clearly better than anything I've auditioned before.
USB C connecter suited me the best as I don't have to go for another usb hub for my macbook.
Great for home studios and in my opinion is the best in this price range.
Strongly recommend...
Clean,clear and detailed sound
After 6 Months use : Extremely happy, I made a great choice.
Really, if you want very very good input and output audio quality, just get this.
It's extremely well built, it looks beautiful next to my MBP on my desk and it has extremely low sound floor.
It changed my audio experience like nothing else and really brought my music to life.
It is so transparent that it brought forward defects in my music production allowing refinement that I didn't know I needed.
Brilliant interface
Voice Over must have
Ok, so I was looking for an interface with USB-C since I was issued an Apple M1 MacBook Air at work. I needed something with a very low noise floor. Out of the Audient iD4, the Universal Audio Volt and the SSL2...the Audient has the lowest sound floor and was recommended by Greg Lanning at Sweetwater. Upon using it, I was blown away on how much cleaner my recordings were. I was recording straight to a Zoom H6, so the Audient is a HUGE step up for my small studio. it is perfect for Voice Over work.
Next upgrade will be a microphone...But for now, I'm very happy.
Audient iD4
I've been taken back at how good this interface is.
The transparency is amazing. Little to no noise with all of its inputs and outputs.
Using with Pro Tools 12.4 and my Sennheiser HD650s
This one sounds so good and has a 3 year warranty. Think I'm good to go.
If you’re looking for a great quality Audio Intf this is it!
I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on this, in fact it was in my cart for a while. I finally got it . Quick shipping. This thing has no latency or maybe really minimal but I didn't notice it.
All in all happy! Great buy for musicians like me and you.
Not the cheapest but sure is the best value
Audient's iD4 was highly recommended to me by a friend who's an experienced audio engineer.
Did look at the cheaper interfaces but they looked just that, cheap!
Setup was a breeze and it does everything as expected.
Just using it for home studio recording, but recommend this interface with a HUGE A++!
Rock steady
Massive upgrade from my troublesome UR interface.
AD-DA is amazing clean, revealing detail in my tracks that I hadn't heard through my Focal's when using the UR
Rock solid build and bus powered so less cables to clutter my workspace.
No brainer
Really,really big upgrade
I purchased this to replace my Focusrite Solo 3rd Gen interface because it was unreliable
My microphone was always crackling and when I was listening to audio it made random noises and it was really annoying.
Audient iD4 is a huge upgrade for me, couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase.
Simple and clear controls on the top surface makes it so easy to use.
Sounds a lot clearer than my old interface and also it's a lot more reliable, build quality feels a lot better as well.
Large format console sound quality !
I learnt my skills on the ASP8024 at SAE in NYC
This interface is that sound in a small form factor for very few $'s
Great rock solid all metal build, some cool 'extra's like the mouse, scroll control and the DI and dual HP out
But really iD4 is all about the sound and making things real clean.
Very happy I bought this
World class product
Bought this interface for its ad/da converters, it is truly first class!
Audient engineer the best products !
Leads the interface pack
Had the ID4 and the ID4 mkii sounds even better , looks better, has two headphone jacks and USBC.
A MASSIVE upgrade in all respects, very cool
Buy it
Super great interface
Fantastic interface for the money, free plugins are a big bonus especially the cab pack, super easy to use once set up and very good sound quality, would highly recommend!
Quality product, terrible drives for PC/Windows users
The product is really really well built but is not the best due to its software. I get major crackling and terrible audio quality from the output but my microphone sounds great coming from it. Not to mention that the box it comes in makes the AI really well packaged. If it wasn't for the drivers id give it 5 stars.
Super easy to set up and get recording
Instant gratification !
Plug into the USB3 laptop port and you're off.
My AT2020 has never sounded so good when bus powered.
Di is super great on bass.
Great sound, crystal clear detail, my recordings never sounded better!
Loopback pretty neat add as well.
Built like a tank and all the controls feel really solid.
I expect to keep the Audient iD4 for a long time
Great recommendation Sweetwater.
Excellent interface and preamp
My Sweetwater rep recommended this as an upgrade from my old Presonus Audiobox 22 for powering my Shure SM7B. I already had a Cloudlifter CL1 for boosting gain with my SM7B, but the Audiobox just wasn't cutting it for clarity and had too much noise. The iD4 MKII preamp is crystal clear and has extremely low noise even when you are pushing the gain to the edge. There is enough gain to run the SM7B without a cloud lifter, but I still have mine in the chain since I already had one laying around.
I love the controls, meters, and ability to use the volume encoder knob to control parameters in my daw. For the money, you can't go wrong with this interface.
Great for Zoom or any other line audio requirements
I bought my iD4 during the Covid-19 lockdown for Zoom and music workshops as I wanted better sound quality than than my laptops built-in audio.
For a solo artist, an iD4 plus a good mic or two is really all you need.
The console preamp is surprisingly good at this price, the DI has a nice, warm tone and the ADDA conversion is stellar.
An affordable and NECESSARY musician's tool for today's times
Significant step up on what was already a great interface
Listed my iD4 Mk1 when I saw the iD4 Mk2 start shipping.
Been using it for a while and I'm now happy to confirm that the recordings it delivers are superior in every way.
The new ADDA are standout, way, way better than anything on the market at this price.
The feature set is similar to the Mk1 as is the build construction.
Loopback add is cool if you need it.
Always about the sound though and iD4 Mk2 sounds real sweet to me
I'm very impressed . . .
I love my Audient iD4 mkii. I was a Focusrite Scarlett user for several years and it took me a long time to finally make the switch. But enough people in the know kept saying it's better, so I went for it. They were right. From the simple stuff, like the monitor mix so I don't have to turn off my monitors to avoid feedback when I record (like I had to with the Scarlett), to more importantly, the superior preamps which are way more noise and distortion free, to slick stuff like the iD button that turns the output level into a smart scroller. It's making editing my older stuff a challenge because it sounds better, but making recording new stuff a pleasure. A great product.
Audient iD4 is a great interface to choose
Fantastically designed audio interface powered by the USB-C port off my MBP
Quality is excellent, built like a tank, and small footprint.
Super cool to have all the controls on the top panel as it makes things so much easier though would like a bit more metering.
Very low latency, dynamic, low noise, and transparent preamps.
Superb!
Now my go to interface choice
Love Audient iD4
Simple to use, reassuringly solid to allow dropping into my location recording bag with confidence
Bus powers all my 48v mics, free from wallwarts, so real mobile recording
Console mic pre SOUND,pure class,English design
Class leader without a doubt
If you can't track killer sound with this then it ain't the interface !
Super great interface, just the right amount of features needed to use as a quick 'notepad' style of interface
Delivers clean and detailed sound and rock solid
We live in an age of amazing recording tools
Great interface choice
Had the Mk1 for around 4 years with no issues at all.
Saw that the new Mk2's now offer Loopback and way, way better ADDA performance than the Mk1 and the rest of the pack.
In fact outta sight better not just better!
Love the new colorway
All good
Great design and sound
I keep being amazed by how simple yet practical Audient keeps their audio interfaces.
I just bought the Mk2 for the same $'s as I bought the Gen 1, 4 years later !
Every single aspect has a small but significant upgrade :
1. USB-C connection instead of the old usb style.
2. More headphone headroom, so, even if I crank it quite loud, the sound comes out clean.
3. The pre-amps are ridiculously clean and very warm sounding.
4. ADDA spec's are now out of sight better and the sound is ridiculous for the price, massively better and cleaner than the competition
5. The latency/buffer handling is also improved.
Great new colorway that fit's with my Apple desktop
Amazing amazing amazing
Audient iD4
It is built like a tank! All metal housing, sturdy and has weight. The convenience of having gains, a large volume control, buttons and monitor lighting (which are bright, clear and accurate) on top of the interface is the way to go. Gain controls have a nice weighty feel to them. The the sound is fantastic! Clear, bright and accurate through monitors or headphones. The JFET input is warm and clear for guitar, that sounds absolutely great! I would've liked an a/c power supply with on and off, but that is not a deal breaker and would be a significant price increase. Overall, this interface is miles above others under $200.00 for sure. Ease of use and impeccable sound make it an outstanding buy.
Class-leading audio interface at a great value
Because the internet was raving over the paper specs of this new audio interface, I had to give the iD4 MkII a try. And let me tell you that this is the best audio interface that you can buy for your money right now. I get exceptionally clean recordings from my bass guitar and dynamic microphones. The metal frame's build quality is superb. On top of the best mic pre and converters you can get for the $, the modern design makes it the perfect package for small home studios. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and I hope you can experience the same.
Audient iD4 MK ll Fantastic Interface !
Audient iD4 Mk2 great upgrade !
I'm a graduate of Full Sail in Florida where they have a room full of ASP8024 Classic consoles so I know about the Audient sound and how smooth it tracks, with little EQ needed.
My previous backup interface started to struggle with the drivers and would loose USB connection on a regular basis and I was recommended the new iD4 Mk2 as a replacement.
I'm totally happy with my purchase, does exactly what I need it to do, has been rock solid so far and being bus powered means I can go mobile at any time I choose
Clean, detailed recordings and a nice Di and it does sound like the Classic ASP8024 !
Highly recommended
Great design, great product
Just super nice and sleek interface that does what it should!
It is super user-friendly and the sound quality is good.
For streamers that don't need a mixer, this is a great interface to connect your XLR mic to your computer.
Garbage
Product overheated like crazy and the preamps are NOT good. I had to crank the mic gain up to 7 just to get a decent signal and it still sounded distorted (using a condenser microphone). Only reason I give this three stars instead of one is because the customer service was absolutely fantastic. I called them up, told them what was wrong and they exchanged it with no problem whatsoever.
