Really good small mic!

By Mitch from Kentucky on December 24, 2018 Music Background: Musician/Piano Technician

I bought this to use with some high end piano tuning software on my iPad. I use the mic to take diagnostic measurements of the inharmonicity of piano strings and help get a more accurate tuning for the piano. If you are a piano tech and are looking for something that can get an accurate read on the lower strings this mic is what you need to use with the iPhone or tablet tuning apps. The small size and features allow you to get the mic into some of the tighter areas of the piano and it fits great in your tool case! Top notch!

Excellent!

I got the i436 to do voice work while I'm travelling and found it useful in the studio as well. I use it with my iPhone 5s and Garageband and a couple other record apps. It's crisp and solid; accessories are well designed and useful. A plus is that it fits the phone jack with the Otterbox case. Great mic!

RTA Function

Simple to use! I've had 3 or 4 experiences with Real Time Analyzers; some more complicated than others. This Mic with my iPad had my computer speakers toned up in just a few minutes. I have a 10 Band GEQ between the computer and the speakers and you can adjust the app to show 9 or 10 bands.

Also used it to set up the EQ on my Yamaha EMX5015cf. I made minor adjustments by ear, and the system sounds great. Again, about 5 minutes!

THX! to Bob Mondok, my sales engineer!

MicWi436 Class 2

By Danny Vuong from Elk Grove, CA on September 25, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist

This little mic is amazing, I use it immediately upon receiving the package. Can't be any easier to make recording with ios device.
I recorded a number of song using the ipad and now this is the only mic I use to do simple recording. Would highly recommend for people who use iphone, ipad , or ipod to make music. Totally happy with this little mic.

Great little mic

By Dan Schultz from Flemington, NJ on February 4, 2013 Music Background: Music teacher, live sound specialist.

I used the MicW i436 with my iPad 2, with the GarageBand app, the video camera app, and other voice record apps--recording middle school instrumentalists. The sound quality is very good, enhancing the recording quality substantially. It's much easier to use than other microphone options, virtually plug-n-play. Since the mic plugs into the 3.5mm port, it should be a great option for other platforms as well, resistant to the ubiquitous change in Apple inputs. Comes with helpful accessories.

Not what I had hoped

By Robby from Oklahoma on February 26, 2022 Music Background: Concert pianist, piano tech, orchestral, marching and metal drummer

I found this mic to be worthless for tuning a piano, using my iPad. Without the mic the iPad does not pick up the high or low notes when tuning. I got this mic hoping for a remarkable improvement in the higher and lower notes, however I could barely tell a difference. I also gave it a test on recording the piano as I played it. For my test the iPad recorded better without than with this mic. I was warned to get a mic with the lighting plug instead of using the headphone jack. There lies the problem. I have to have a cable to extend the mic away from the iPad so as not to lay the iPad on the piano itself. The iPad is mounted to a mic stand. With the lighting jack there is no male to female extension cable. I'm going to try something different.
