Nice keyboard
First off, although this is similar to Korg EK-50, it is "voiced" differently, in my opinion. I also own an EK-50, and I think that keyboards with built-in speakers are optimized to sound best through the built-in speakers. My EK-50 never sounded as good as the i3 does through a PA system, and the bass and treble knobs just add more to the overall sound. Light as a feather, too. My only gripe so far is that I think the part select buttons should not have been set up to work with the shift key...it would have been nice to be able to use one hand to bring parts in and out while playing live. So far, I am very happy with the i3.
Great lightweight keyboard
I needed a lightweight keyboard for practice sessions, but with the quality to take to gigs as well. I tried a cheaper manufacturer, but wanted the full featured capabilities offered by the Korg i3. I already have a 76 key Korg workstation, so the fact that the architecture of the i3 is the same was a big plus. In the bands I play with, I need the ability to set up several parts and different instruments in many songs so we can sound like the original band. The Korg i3 fits the bill great for me.
I've also got to say, the Sweetwater sales and support team members are without peer. They helped me with my decision on the equipment to fit my needs, and made everything go smoothly. Thanks so much for your excellent support. That's a big part of picking a vendor to work with. For me, there's no comparison.
Works great for this non-keyboardist
My primary instrument is the drums and my keyboard style can be best described as "Monkey Wearing Mittens" so I needed something that had decent sounds and was easy to use (my patience with technology is also primate level). The Korg i3 was exactly what I needed and at a very reasonable price, too. Whatever bells and whistles this instrument lacks are likely not anything I would need. Maybe I'll use the money I saved and take some piano lessons.
As usual Sweetwater's serviced was exceptional but I'm getting kind of tired saying that all the time so I'll just say "thanks for the candy"!
Easy
Most logical, easy to use arranger I've ever worked with. Love the price. Composed 10 songs quickly and are now on SoundCloud. Most people inquire as to how polished the sounds are. Great beginner to advanced board. Makes music playing and recording a joy.
