Not a complete kit

By Fastelder from Baltimore
Music Background: Synth Guitar Player

I've been playing Midi Guitar for over ten years. I have a Carvin (Keisel), Fender Roland Ready Strat and a Godin XTSa. I've also put the GK pickups on a variety of other guitars. I've wanted to put MIDI capability on an acoustic guitar and so I bought the Graph tech Acoustic MIDI kit. It's a little pricey, but hey, to do synth on an acoustic it would be fun. I just finished installing it on a Yamaha I picked up cheap. My only consideration was play-ability, as the electronics would take care of the tone. I have Three MAJOR disappoints with the product.
1. There is virtually NO installation guide for an acoustic guitar. You're basically on your own. Plenty of videos showing you how to install on any number of electric bridges. Fortunately, I work on my own guitars, so I was able to work through it. NOTE: It is not for the casual guitarist. It is MUCH more complicated than just switching out the Bridge saddles on an electric.
2. KNOBS - ...It does NOT come with knobs for the stacked control pots. No problem, I figure. I'll just get some stock knobs off the web - NOOOO! the knobs are a unique size. I searched the web for literally hours and could not find that size. Of course, Graph Tech will sell you a set... How can you sell what is advertised as a "complete system" when you need additional parts to make it function?
3. S1/S2 switch - Another item that I feel should be included. Every MIDI guitar comes with that switch (or switches) Again, Graph Tech will come to the rescue... It's a common salecom switch...! It has soldered leads and a connector, but seriously do they have a 90 dollar an hour craftsman soldering these things up?
...A little too much of an upsell in my opinion.
