I recently went to a music shop and tried every brand of cymbals, from cheap to high end. sabian is absolutely the best out there, they have made great progress over the years and their xsr cymbals are almost just as good as the aax, and indistinguishable in quality

I've personally watched these be used in a stadium concert, would recommend to anybody

(And they look beautiful on my kit

The cymbals also sound good with yarn mallets and brushes! THE SERVICE WAS FANTASTIC!!

By Dan H. from "Da Region" (aka Northwest Indiana)
Music Background: rock, jazz, classical, musical theatre, country

I made my first pilgrimage to Sweetwater on 1/18/22 and I love the store.

After seeing test footage with sticks, I wanted to see how the cymbals sound when played with yarn mallets and wire brushes. They definitely don't sound like "budget" cymbals, as the ride and both crashes sounded beautiful when I played rolls on them with yarn mallets. All of the cymbals responded beautifully to the wire brushes. The hats are good at foot splashes and have a nice "chick" sound to them. Having never played "fast" crashes before, I was amazed at how quickly they responded (then again, they're called "fast" crashes for a reason). And, of course, the cymbals sounded good with sticks (Vic Firth SD11 "Slammers"). These are the versatile cymbals that I've been looking for, as they sound good in multiple genres.

As far as service is concerned, Quentin was very helpful in retrieving my desired cymbals from the warehouse. Another bonus was that he didn't "hover" or put any unnecessary pressure on me.

Upgraded XS20

By Landon
Music Background: Semi-pro, HOW

The XSR seems to be an upgrade to the legendary XS20 cymbal series. All B20 cast bronze cymbals (to include the XS20 and XSR) ARE NOT beginner cymbals -- but professional cymbals. If you want a starter cymbal, get a B12 or B8 sheet bronze cymbal. These XSRs are professional B20 cast bronze at a very good price point. While these are not hammered as much as the AAX/HHX, or other Sabian top tier cymbals, they still provide the very distinct notes of the highly prized cast B20 metal.

Sabian XSR

By Sweetwater Customer

Great starter set. Quality and sound are very good.
However, save your money and go for the Sabian Paragon series.
What a difference!

Jed at Sweetwater does a terrific job.

Sabian XSF Performance Set with fast crashes

By John (. from Scott Depot, WV
Music Background: Rock drummer since 1965

My favorite cymbals for classic rock have been mostly the AAX and HHX series by Sabian. With tons of money tied up in cymbals I decided to try the XSR series for a complete practice set. I like them so well that I plan to add the 14 fast crash to the 16 and 18. I like a tight chick on hi-hats and the XSR hats have the sound I've been looking for (better than my AAX Excell's). The 20 ride has a nice ping, nice bell, and can be used as a crash as well. After I receive the 14 fast crash, I plan to use these cymbals at future gigs. If you hesitate to spend a bundle on cymbals try the SXR series.
