7 years and still going.

By John H. from Lancaster, CA

This board gets used twice a week 6 hours at a time and still running strong after 7 years.

I have built a little private network system in my rack case to access it VIA wifi at all my gigs and I am able to access it via laptop or tablet.

Makes mixing so much easier.

From the past to the future

By DJ B. from United States
Music Background: DJ, Producer

best purchase made !! hands down.
With faster computers and better DAW software...digital sound processing still is the major responsibility of the computer. the hardware these days needs to be solid and durable.. and the X32 seires gives you tha.. without breaking the bank. its the perfect middle of the road answer.

I purchased my X32 Producer in 2018, and have received 1 firmware update in 2020.. and thats the major reason why i went this route. Because, hardware con only change a few minor way.. but since we are processing more and more digitally.. the firmware would be more important.. and the devices ability to accept and process new firmware would be the key.

Understanding this.. i knew buying this would payoff.. there should be no reason to buy another device like this for at least 10-15 years (bar no physical issues, fire, theft water, etc.)

OPERATIONS:
You should definitely have a basic knowledge of mixer operations. whether as a producer, DJ or stage hand. However, with that, you will need to check a couple of vids on deep advanced menu options and mixer set-up.. because of the mass versatility of the mixer.. you can really do just about anything you need a mixer for.

In my video i explain stereo set-up.. because i thought out-the-box it would be set-up. but, nope.. you gotta build the routings from scratch.. and it turns out to be a good thing.. because you will soon see that the advancement and versatility is quite amazing.

WHY I BOUGHT:
Im a music producer, i wanted small studio, but able to scale-up over time. I knew i wanted to start off with at least 6 inputs. What i didn't think about was digital sound processing development. And how import sharing the responsibility between devices (ie computers CPU, GPU, Sound Cards, Instruments,) so when i connect keyboards/synthesizers to the computer.. its a lot to manage.. then to add a microphone.. oh and then there are all the effects added via plugin and VST's.. i sympathized with the computer.. So lets share the sound processing with other unit.. SO to find that the X32 has sound effects DSP on board was a huge help.. so now i can have pre-recording processing as it hit my DAW exactly how i want it.. which cuts my editing time, and helps take a load off my CPU.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

BUY IT.. ..if you have a need for a mixer and you know that scaling up inputs, versatility and use-case will be much later down the road.. this wll get you there and safice in the mean time.

I have two of these mixers and love them

I have an X32 compact in my studio and I use the X32 Producer for live performances. They are amazing units. You can do almost anything with them. I highly recommend them!

X32 producer

By Tom B. from Myrtle Beach
Music Background: Drummer

I was looking at analog mixers and couldn't find one with enough output/monitor flexibility. The digital x32 producer does everything I need it to plus a lot more. It has a learning curve but there are a lot of tutorials on how to use it, and I'm not a sound expert, but I got it set up and working how I need it. I don't need a lot of what it can do right now, but it's there if/when I need it.

Excellent console - Incredible value for the price.

By Chris

Upgraded from a Mackie ProFX16 - huge upgrade. The amount of possibilities with this board is endless. So many granular controls and routing features, remote iPad control, etc. If you are seeking more than 48Khz sample rate and want the scribble strips in a board this size - the Midas M32R is for you, but double the price for that premium. I always highly recommend this board, and seen the X32 series in use in many setups. Excellent sound console that's the core instrument of your entire live gig, studio, or church environment.

Rock solid.

By James J.

Other console brands and products have come and gone. I have 6 of these in the field and have never had a problem with one. The flexibility and reliability you get from an x32 is unmatched in my opinion.

Exactly what we needed

By Sweetwater Customer

We were upgrading our church mixer board from an archaic, analog Mackie soundboard and this is quite an improvement! Great price, 3 adjustable presets that make the faders bounce back to whatever they were set at, all of the tweaking material that we need, and not too big. Perfect!

Great For Small Spaces

By Jose
Music Background: U.S. Army Audio Engineer

This board to me is great for the price. The lack of scribble strip LEDs doesn"t bother me at all. I think a lot of people have missed the point of this console. In my opinion, it"s meant to have all the functionality of the X32 consoles with a smaller footprint while still keeping the essential controls. Around ninety percent of the time, I"m mixing from an iPad anyway.

Most of the time my band is placed in a small corner somewhere. If I ever need to use it FOH I can go old school and use labels or tape. I think digital has spoiled a lot of us. Remember the analog days? With this console you can still multitrack, use P16s, network for iPad or laptop, add expansion cards, 2-track record, and of course expand your inputs by adding s16s. If anything, this would make a great onstage monitoring console for larger setups.

Biggest pro to me is the amount of space you"ll save on your load-in/out for setups. I also love that it"s physically much easier to carry this console in the case. Our trucks and vans are pretty small. We need to be able to fit drums, keyboards, amps, and all sound into our vehicles (not to mention band members). A full size console with all the buttons and knobs would be great but if I can"t get the help I need for setup, if I don"t have space on the truck, nor am I given a FOH mix position, then this console is almost literally a lifesaver.

A great alternative to the larger versions

By Jeffro from Des Moines, IA
Music Background: Musician, Live/Studio Engineer

I run sound at a local venue which uses the full X32. I loved the sound and features so much that, when I was in the market for a new board for personal use, I chose to order this one. It's what you would expect: the X32 crammed into a smaller package that is rackmountable. Almost everything is there. However, after using it for a couple weeks, I found I REALLY missed the scribble strip, larger screen, and dedicated mute group buttons. Like, a lot. But mostly the scribble strip. I thought I could get by the old fashioned way with tape, but there's just too many layers to label everything if you actually use all of it. Yes, you could just use the screen, but I found smaller text too difficult to read. I need to make quick decisions instead of squinting at a screen. Especially if I'm making adjustments while playing. It's a great board and I realize they had to make some sacrifices to make it that size. If you absolutely need a rackmountable X32 with knobs and faders it's definitely the way to go. I ultimately decided to forego my rack and return this for the Compact Tour Package version.

Nice Machine

By RichT from Ohio and Missouri

Great machine, I am traditionally an analog board person, of which I still have and use. This is a nice transitional digital board for those who need a compact, cost effective and very functional device. There are no scribble notes for each fader so you should be experienced in knowing how to group your channels (Vocals, Drums, Keys etc. Left to Right & by 8s) to organize your setup. My board is scribble noted with the traditional electrical tape. Of course if you are tied to a laptop etc. scribble notes are present there.

To justify my purchase while having perfectly functioning analog boards I selected the Producer to be used stand alone and also with a digital snake connected to a X32Rack. Because I use WL mics for vocals it frees me to to actually have 22 stage instruments routed through the digital snake.

Speaking of routing, I give BGR a Big F for documentation on that, but get on YouTube, "plenty" of support there.
As noted before there are no scribble notes, so think twice before using for at a fixed site such as in a House of Worship.
Perfectly satisfied for now

Get the Compact

By Sweetwater Customer from Nashville
Music Background: Live Audio / Production

Unless you will have a maximum of 8 channels, do not get this board. There are no scribble strips, so switching between banks of faders can be very confusing and take away precious time determining what channel is where.

Furthermore, almost all of the tutorials online are geared toward the compact or the original, which have a slightly different button layout. This actually is significant as many of the buttons used in the tutorials are different then what are on the producer.

Spend a little more, and get the Compact at least.

This Mixer changed my life

By Eduardo R. from Sunrise, FL
Music Background: Audio Engineer and Band leader of Fondo Blanco Latin Band

I've been playing live for almost 30 years, always doing my band mix from the stage with analog small consoles like Mackie. I gave the X32 Producer a try in January and It really changed my life big time!
The sound improved immensely, the effects arsenal is great! And the best part of the whole thing is that all the musicians control their own mixes from their smartphones. Last Sunday we had this huge gig with 1,000 guests and I used everything the X32 has to offer, there was no empty input or output, 10 piece band with 10 monitor mixes (4 wireless and 6 wired using Powerplay P1s), the mixer by my side on stage and FOH controlled with an ipad, all via wireless network (Apple Air Express). The sound check lasted 10 minutes including drums. The Gig, Flawless!!!
My musicians can't stop talking about how happy they are and how this mixer setup has improved their quality of live on stage. There is no better bang for the buck right now than the X32 line.
The Behringer brand has skyrocketed for me with this product.

Cheers!

I/O Cabling

By DJL from Colorado
Music Background: Musician/Composer

Behringer almost got everything right. Why they didn't spend just a little more money for combo XLR/TRS inputs and outputs is beyond me. In bulk, it might have added $20 to their cost.....max. I really wanted this mixer so Sweetwater helped on biting the bullet for re-cabling everything from TRS to TRS/XLR for my rack. Big time kudos to Forrest and Sweetwater. I am really looking forward to receiving this mixer. Going from analog to digital will be superb!

X32 - Oustanding1

By Figtree S. from New Jersey
Music Background: Sound engineer

I have the X32 full-size and I bought the producer to take on the road. I would have given it 5 stars but they didn't put in the the back-lit windows on each channel, and that's my only complaint. The versatility of this console is amazing. Being able to memorize complete settings for every band I work for is a real time saver. The Midas pre-amps sound incredible!

INCREDIBLE HOW MUCH CAN BE DONE WITH SUCH A SMALL RACKAMOUNTABLE MIXER

By ALBERTO from SOUTH FLORIDA
Music Background: LIVE SOUND

I HAVE 1 PRODUCEER AND 2 X S16 DIGITAL SNAKES, WHICH MAKE AND IMPRESIVE 32 XLR INPUTS AND 16 RETURNS FROM A SMALL RACKAMOUNTABLE MIXER. LOVE THE IDEA OF HAVING A PORTABLE 40 CH MIXER. THE ONLY THING, IS THAT I LEARNED TO USE IT THANKS TO THE YOUTUBE VIDEOS, BECAUSE THE MANUAL IS KIND OF DIFFICULT. SWEETWATER HAS SOME GREAT TUTORIALS, AS WELL AS BEHRINGER HAS PLENTY. A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ALSO POST VIDEOS THAT HELP. ANOTHER HINT, LEARN FROM ANY OF THE X32, SINCE THE DIFFERENCE IS ONLY ON THE ACTUAL KNOBS AND BOTTOMS.

Another great variation of the X32

By Paul V. from Florida
Music Background: Producer, bandleader, arranger, lead tech.

Our production company owns four x32's and have been so impressed with them that we then bought a rack mount X32. Works like a charm with iPad control and a lot easier for the typical road jobs. We were carrying one of our full size X32's as a backup and decided to try the Producer (as a backup). Not disappointed. Because it has faders on it (and rack doesn't), for smaller jobs, this works even better without having to setup a router for the iPad. Same sound, same control. So now, we don't call the Producer a backup, we call it an alternative. (and it takes up a lot less room in the trailer than our full size X32)

All of the X32 versions have card out which is very handy for recording up to 32 tracks at a time. I haven't figured out how to output directly to Digital Performer, so we just record into Traktion (free download with board) and import the tracks to DP.

We also own 10 of the Personal Monitor controls. Setting up a typical band is a breeze. Make sure all the inputs are patched correctly and there is almost zero soundcheck time for the band.... they do their own.... although we found it not a good idea to give these to vocalists who often "more me" into feedback.... LOL!

I own over 30 Behringer products of various kinds and they have been reliable and cost effective. I paid more for one of my LS9's than I did for three of my X32's together.

A great effort

By Jonathan P. from Seattle, WA USA
Music Background: Musician, recording engineer

First, the good. There's a lot of good here. The user interface is so intuitive that for most things, you don't need a manual. The 'view' buttons take you quickly to the screen you need. Sends on faders is brilliant. The Mackie Control emulation is great, even the VU meters work on mackie control tracks. EThernet snakes = awesome. The latency is unbeleivably low through this board. Interface with a computer is plug and play. The programmable buttons are brilliant. The flying faders feel great under paw.

The bad: mic preamps are still too noisy.. if you need a lot of gain, you're going to want to use outboard preamps. They didn't include dedicated transport buttons - you can control transport from the programmable buttons, but some real transport buttons would have been nice. I know it would have taken some major engineering, but having the scribble strips would also have been nice, especially for the programmable buttons. Also, no feedback removal effect - I would have loved to see a emulation of the Behringer feedback killer as a insert.

Overall, this is a worthy successor to the DDX3216 - a board that I held onto for many many years because I could never find something that would fit in a 19" rack and do the things it did. This board shows that Behringer isn't just a copy-cat company despite what many say - they create great innovative products all their own.

It's a baby x32!

By Cody M. from Middletown, DE
Music Background: Pro Musician, Teacher, and Sound Engineer

YES THERE ARE NO SCRIBBLE STRIPS but it's still a fantastic board. For those who aren't aware, the scribble strip on the x32 family is where you can write out the channel/bus name (i.e. vocalist 1), color it, and give it an icon to help organize the board's layout. This is the ONLY downside to not spending 2k on the x32 Compact. If you are planning on running the x32 into a computer or use your ipad, however, this doesn't matter because you can still label your channels and buses on them.

There's not much to say about this board. It's a spitting image of the larger x32s with the exact same capabilities, just a different/smaller layout. Great board, get it!

No Scribble Strips?!?!

By Joe from Florida
Music Background: Recording/Live Sound Engineer, Musician

I have extensively used the original X32 and really love these consoles. I was considering buying an X32 Producer when it came out, until... I noticed that there are no scribble strips (LED Displays) on the input channels. I believe this is a major oversight. The more groups of faders you have to deal with, the more the need for the displays.
