Unreal how this feels and plays. You can tell it's built to last forever. It really is a work of art. I bought mine in 2023 and it always inspires me to play. I also have a Wolfgang Standard Chlorine Burst which I love. However, this just blows it away. I was going back and forth over American vs Japan. Saved 2,000.00 and know I made the right decision. I purchased this from Sweetwater when they were first released and it's such an amazing guitar! Super playable and pretty much identical to the USA Signature version. I opted for Sweetwater's plek service and setup and feel like this is one of the most if not THE MOST fun, smoothest playing guitar I have. As I've started learning more Van Halen stuff it's quickly become my number go to guitar!

First a little background - I own lots of fantastic guitars including my American made guitars: Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG, Gibson ES335, Fender Strat, Fender Tele, and a Kramer Pacer. Europeans might make the best classical instruments (i.e., violins, etc.), but Americans make the best electric guitars. I was tempted to buy the EVH Wolfgang USA Edward Van Halen Signature. However, the price difference was so drastic that I bought the made in Japan version. I am very pleased. While I'm sure the USA version is great, I don't think the price difference can be justified. My understanding is that the Japanese version uses the same parts, the same woods, etc. The only difference is where it is made. I think the Japanese luthiers take great pride in their work product. The craftsmanship is very high quality. An example is the cutout for the tremolo (see the attached photo). It is a very precise cut - no sloppy work.

The Floyd Rose on this EVH MIJ Series Signature Wolfgang guitar is reminiscent of the original Floyd Rose's which were built with amazing quality. When the Floyd Rose patent expired some manufacturers started making Floyd Rose's that looked the same but were sub quality (i.e., cheaper metals, rougher machined parts, loose fine tuners, etc.). The VH MIJ utilizes a very well made Floyd (and with a D Tuna). I was skeptical about the D Tuna before trying one. I thought it would throw the other strings out of tune. If it does, it's negligible. It is a really easy and quick way to drop the E string to a D.

The pickups sound great and are quite versatile. The tuning pegs appear to be really high quality. I still don't know what to think about the guitar strap hooks. I do love the EVH's ebony fretboard and stainless steel frets. The neck feels amazing. The string height is low with no fret buzz. The case is very high quality and has a cavity for the tremolo arm (see the attached photo).

Before this, my only good guitar with a locking tremolo was my Kramer. The Kramer was great, but that guitar is getting old and the fretboard and frets are quite worn. I needed to get a replacement guitar with a locking tremolo. It has been a frustrating search. I have tried a Schecter, Jackson, two Ibanezes, and a Fender with a locking tremolo. None of those lived up to the quality of my Kramer. However, this EVH MIJ Series Signature Wolfgang surpasses my Kramer. The dive bombing is back!

I am very happy with this Wolfgang. The quality and workmanship is top notch, as you would expect from a Japanese made guitar. The guitar was set up was great from the factory. I made a few minor tweaks to fine tune it to my playing style. Now it is rock solid and a lot of fun. I wasn't exactly in love with the dog leash hardware. I had some rifle sling snap hooks and some finger sleeves laying around. Much better. The problem I have now is that I can't put the guitar down. The buying experience from Sweetwater was excellent, as usual.

I just unboxed my MIJ Wolfgang this afternoon. The instrument is flawless. It plays fabulously and feels great. If you are on the fence about pulling the trigger on this one, do it. You will be pleased that you did.

I will write a more detailed review in the near future- right now I would rather play the guitar than write about it.

I've played for 30÷ years and this one is one of the best I've ever touched , it feels absolutely perfect and came setup as good as it could possibly get,perfect string height and inotaion was dead on even D-tuna was dialed in , I can't imagine how the USA model could be much different , I had to wait a few months but was well worth it to know it hasn't been moved all over shipped from another store played and tweaked by everyone that comes in store , it was prestine in box wrapped up new and Sweetwaters sales staff is best in the business

I just can't get over how perfect this guitar is. I've wanted a USA model for quite some time, but just wasn't sure I wanted to invest in a USA, as I was still unsure as to what I'd really think about an EVH Wolfgang. I've owned an Axis in the past and enjoyed it (kicking myself for selling it, still). I was and remain amazed at the fit and finish, the playability, and overall exceptional experience at this price point (or any, honestly). I could not be happier. Somehow this went from a questionable purchase to immediately becoming my #1 - I wish I would have made the Wolfgang move years ago. Stellar guitar - really indistinguishable from its USA counterpart.
