20" Crash Cymbal Made from B20 Bronze with Unlathed Bell

The Wuhan KOI series presents a stunning selection of artisan-quality B20 bronze cymbals with distinctive unlathed bells and clean laser-engraved logos that help these cymbals retain their sophisticated look. Brimming with a rich, complex tonality, this Wuhan KOI series crash cymbal is dark, explosive, and expressive; it responds to aggressive bashing with a smooth musical wash and also allows nuanced passages to shine. While the raw bell adds a distinctive look, it’s not just for show — it’s purpose designed for drying out the cymbal to enhance definition and clarity. Drummers here at Sweetwater have gravitated to the musical timbre of this heavy-hammered bell to add interest and variety to their drum compositions. Like actual koi fish, every cymbal in the Wuhan KOI series is uniquely beautiful, both in sight and sound. Reel yours in today!

Great Crash…if you do your research.

By Sam W.
Music Background: 25+ years playing and counting…

I bought this on recommendation from multiple drummers, going into it I knew it was thinner and for lighter use ahead of time. Did my research via the YouTubes and decided to pull the trigger. Very glad I did.
Cymbal has a semi dark sound with a quick decay, doesn't get overly loud. Perfect if you need it for gig where higher volumes aren't needed.

It's designed for you to hit at about 1-50% power and still get the sound out of it without having to lay into it. I use it primarily at church and it works perfect.

Like it so much I bought the 18" to go with it.

Nice sounding cymbal but paper thin. Not for heavy playing.

By Sweetwater Customer

Sounds better on videos than in person. These KOIs don't have much sustain. I bought this 20 inch as a cheaper alternative to a Dream Energy crash/ride. I wish I would have just paid the extra and got another Dream. It's a nice sounding cymbal maybe as a 2nd or 3rd cymbal or for some jazz or light playing. I learned the hard way using it as a primary crash, cracked after one gig.

Large dark cymbal. Know what you're buying.

By Sweetwater Customer

When I listened to a lot of videos on this one I liked how it sounded but now that I have it, I think it's just alright. This is really a thin darker cymbal that would pair well with something like slower post-rock or maybe even jazz. Not something you can just lay into repeatedly and imo kinda seems out of place with hard rock, punk, metal that I play. I find myself not really using it as much as my A customs. At $225 I think it's a bit overpriced as well, esp compared to the dark koi china. Should be priced closer to that.

Great cymbal

By Sweetwater Customer

I really like this cymbal. It sounds awesome all around, and it has a nice crash sound.

One of the darkest, sweetest, and most explosive crashes I have used.

This cymbal is amazing!

First off: This cymbal is *THIN!* I can bend it with just my hands, and it'll spring back into place. This contributes to the dark sound and how absurdly fast it opens up.

It is one of the darkest crashes out there, and it opens up really quickly.

The bell on this thing is heavenly! Sounds like a ping ride bell.

Close but no cigar

By MARK A.

Well it cost about half as much as a zildian or paiste, and it sounds about half as good. Thin trashy sound, not terrible, but does not sound like the one on the demo video. would not recommend it, hoping I can return it and get a better cymbal.
