Ibanez WH10 V3 Wah Pedal Reviews

Wah Guitar Effect Pedal with Switchable Bypass, Multiple Feedback Op Amp Circuit, Depth Knob, and Range Switch

Originally released in the 1980s and popularized in the 1990s by John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Ibanez WH10 Wah Pedal distinguishes itself from other wah pedals with its creamy filter sweeps, rich wooly tone, and incredible interaction with overdrive, distortion, and fuzz boxes. Guitarists at Sweetwater dig the WH10 for its full feature set, including a Depth knob for setting the intensity of the wah effect and a range switch to optimize it for bass or guitar. To capture the true essence of the original unit, the V3 edition resurrects the multiple feedback op-amp, which maintains consistent gain across frequency ranges for unmatched smoothness when sweeping the filter. And, the V3 adds some long-desired upgrades, such as switchable bypass and an ultra-durable, die-cast housing in lieu of the original’s notoriously fragile plastic enclosure. Boldly singular and packed with swagger, the Ibanez WH10 V3 is a different kind of wah that captures your attention and won’t let go!

Ibanez Wh10 v3

By Andrew Clark from Wv on March 19, 2024 Music Background: Guitar 19 years, some keys, some drums, future bassist

This pedal pairs well with an overdrive, distortion and fuzz it gives you so many different phrases too. Best part is you can use it for either Guitar or bass and if you use the bass effect with the guitar it gives it this cool dropped octave sound that's a bit outta phase and sounds so sick. Love it

Best wah I've ever used.

By Dwight C from Macon, ga on October 6, 2022 Music Background: Used to get paid

I've had Dunlop, vox, line 6, even expensive boutique wahs like an RMC. But this one is the best to my ears. It can seem a bit subtle at times, but it's very tweakable. Plus it's not huge and heavy. Looks cool, and has that frusciante mojo.

Works Amazing, Just Like The Original!

By Cody from YPSILANTI, MI on August 23, 2022

I've had a vintage 1980s WH-10 for over a decade and it has always been my favorite wah pedal despite it flawed design. Recently it decided to stop sweeping and while I absolutely plan to get it fixed I had a show coming up and it wouldn't be sorted in time. This pedal arrived insanely fast and once I set it up on my board and engaged it I was really pleased that it sounds virtually identical to the original with a much more solid construction.

Once my vintage pedal is fixed it will solidly become a studio pedal while this moves into its spot as a work- horse. The construction is really solid, my only complaint is the rubber trianglular feet which make it really hard to attach velcro so it sticks to my board (not the biggest problem).

If you're on the fence about this pedal I can say it's pretty fantastic!

Great Pedal

Wah wow

Was looking for a wah with bypass, that wouldn't kill my tone when the pedal was in the down/off position. My sales guy Corey Elliot suggested this one. Did the trick. Thanks Corey, thanks Ibanez

Amazing!

This wah pedal is absolutely amazing. I had pre ordered it in July and it came in a couple weeks ago. It makes sense with the global pandemic stuff but that's besides the point. When I turned that pedal on I felt like John Frusciante. It's amazing. There's a catch though. If you want the John Frusciante thing out of this pedal you need to have some gain in your signal from either an overdrive pedal or your amp. The pedal has depth knob on the side that adds gain. (I run depth at max). So if you run the pedal into a clean channel with no drive at all, there will be a significant volume
Jump. I cannot stress that enough. If you turn the depth knob down it works as a regular wah. Another thing about the pedal is the switch on it. It's kinda difficult to turn off and on but I just gotten used to it. I can't tell a difference between the true and buffered bypass switch. The guitar and bass switch is interesting. If you have it in bass mode the sweep of the sound is an octave lower. I used the bass switch on guitar and it was a cool sound . I haven't used the pedal on the bass and I don't think I will. Overall this pedal is well worth the wait and money! If you are looking for the Frusciante sound it absolutely nails it.

Ibanez WH10v3 has got it!

By guy with tools on March 14, 2020 Music Background: getar player

Previous versions were beta testing compared to this new premium version of the Ibanez WH10. Sturdy build, funky sharp wah-wah sound and functions you can't normally find on Wah pedals in this price range. To me, this iteration is for sure, the most satisfying the WH10 will ever be. Great for funk, blues and even metal (Hendrix, Frusciante, even Vai).
Now the only reason I do take off half a star is mainly due to the fact getting a perfect sound with this wah-wah does require some knowledge of fiddling with your rig to get the best sound as possible. This pedal does have quite the volume boost so some people find it best to lower their guitar pickups to sit more flush with the surface of the body, making the pickups sound less sensitive. Also, look into how people set up their amp gain with this pedal. It does also sound the best through single coil pickups as well but whatever, WAH-WAH is WAH-WAH. Rock on!

I went for the look.

It looks different from other wah pedals, specially compared to the classic CryBaby, the green is a nice touch, looks good in pedalboard, but the Ibanez branded green square was falling off since the day one. The best feature is the Range Knob, pretty useful, the on/off switch is really hard to press, I can press it with my foot seated, I had to press it with my bodyweight.

Small footprint on the board, it doesn't take much space if you want to keep the board small, but I had hard time trying to get it stick on the board, it has a triangle shaped pad on each corner, but even removing the pads, it has some screws on the bottom.

Overpriced and poorly made

By aidan fradl from Oregon on June 24, 2021

The only redeeming quality of this pedal, like the original, is that it sounds quite good. However it's not a clone of the original with some added features, it is a different pedal altogether (though it sounds quite similar).

The one I was sent had a switch that gave out after just a few weeks of heavy daily use (no mishandling). The switch chosen here is probably just the wrong one for the job. There's a little chairfoot-like cushion bit over the switch that comes off extremely easily and has to be reglued.

After sending this back to Sweetwater and then onto Ibanez for repairs, they put in an entirely different switch. Also the cushion bit came off again after just a few uses and had to be reglued which is a relatively difficult task. The only redeeming quality is the tone and the fact that we don't have to buy used pedals of this kind anymore. However a pedal like Behringer's optical wah is less than half the price, and it sounds just as good or better and nearly identical on distorted tones.

So if you're prepared to pay for a new switch and to be somewhat disappointed overall, but really want this one of a kind tone, then go for it. However if you're willing to settle for something that sounds really similar on high gain tones (which is all this is good for with the gain boost, unusable on clean tone) then buy something else.
