First off, I am so glad I waited for this. It took close to 2 months from the time I ordered to delivery which was longer than originally expected. Just know that if you have to wait also, be patient it's worth it I promise. Now to the kit, the kit arrived in perfect condition and was very protected in shipping. Upon unboxing the drums I was immediately blown away by the quality. The lacquered blue ripple is just breathtaking in person. I personally am more of a coated heads guy so I pretty much immediately swapped out the tom batters for Evans g2 coated and right away was just met with some incredible tones. The floor tom especially just wants to sing and needs no dampening material. The kick is what I could tell the biggest difference from my other kits in the past (all more budget level kits). The tama kick (22x14) is super loud and punchy, that thing is like a cannon! I also paired the matching snare as well in a 14x5.5 and I have it tuned to a medium to medium low pitch and it sounds killer, way more presence than the size would lead you to think. I personally can't see where someone would need to spend more money on a kit than this, this is a professional level kit at a very reasonable price all things considered. Tama does a good job of making you feel like you're getting the best bang for your buck, like the kick drum spurs being super beefy, the floor tom memory locks for the legs, those little things add up that other kits in this price range don't give you. I would put this kit up against any in terms of its sound AND its looks. The kick will ship with a black reso head, I opted to order a white reso separately and I think it looks far cleaner than the stock images of the kick with the black reso, though that's just my personal opinion and would definitely vary based on what color set you went with. This kit is a 12x8, 16x16, 22x14 virgin bass drum. The 12x8 will ship with a tom cymbal stand bracket, but I prefer using my snare stand. 10/10 kit in all categories.
