Demo Viper Amp

By Marcus Coleman from New Houlka, MS on September 26, 2023 Music Background: 48 years on acoustic and bass guitar.

I wanted to save a little money so I bought the demo Viper X2. It is fantastic. The only thing won't with the demo, the volume knob was missing and Peavey replaced it with no problem. There was a small dent in the corner metal brace that is hardly noticeable, every thing she is perfect. I love the many effects you get with this amp. I'm still learning how to use the events for the acoustic an bass guitar. I really love the low end bass sound I get. Thank you Sweetwater and Peavey!

One (practice) Amp to Rule Them All

By Sweetwater Customer on June 30, 2023

Perfect? No. More than good enough for multi-instrument hobbyist (come on, let's be honest)? Definitely. I purchased a DEMO that someone else rejected. It works just fine at practice volume levels with my ukuleles (acoustic and solid bodies), guitars (acoustic and solid bodies), and bass. Having spent the last ten years recovering from guitar-induced tinnitus (which research now shows is correlated with dementia (refer to Mayo Clinic's Web site)), I no longer pretend to be a Pete Townshend wannabe (pun intended). I use an iPad SPL app to keep my jamming to a safe 70 db, and the Vypyr produces excellent sonics for me. Enough said, you get my point.

Also, I've been a multi instrumental hobbyist for six decades and I've spent a monarch's ransom chasing the elusive "sounds in my head" (something about neurosis, I suppose). Sweetwater has excelled all the other retailers in my experience (except Aloha City ukuleles), and Jeff Weinstein has consistently blessed me with "above snd beyond" advice and service. Bravo!

Better than I expected

By PATRICK ROBINSON from HAMILTON, AL on June 16, 2023

Bought this awhile back so I could easily switch back and forth from electric to acoustic playing without having to either run my acoustic straight to the mixer or carry two amps. I'v been playing with this for months now and I gotta say.....his thing rocks and it puts out more sound than I would have ever expected. The onboard effects are well chosen, easy to dial in and customizable. As always, Keaton gave great info in helping me compare and choose the Vypyr II and it fits my needs perfectly. Kudos on his professional service and knowledge!

Quickly becoming favorite Amp

By Paul Herd from Monett,MO, MO on April 20, 2023 Music Background: Heavy Rock/song writer

First thing I noticed when picking up the package was how heavy this amp is. It is not a lightweight including performance. For just 40 watts it is loud. Even at it lowest setting it pumps out volume on the dirty settings. Clean setting like the 12 string you do you have to add power. But I crank this thing up to 7 and struck a G5 chord and the glass in the house rattled like it was thunderclap. I tried it with my bass and acoustic guitar, and it worked perfectly. There was hum or buzz. However, make sure the amp is these channels and the regular guitar channels or you will get noise. Have yet to try it out in the studio as direct in recording, but don't think it will be a problem with 1/4 adapter. And get the pedal that goes with it, it is must to make it work right and allows you to turn on and off the effect boxes.

Great Amp

By Gerry Pair from Sacramento Ca on February 3, 2023 Music Background: Old Country Player.

I a Amp with a lot of guts. Loud when I needed it and soft and cool for those acoustic guitar times. This Amp can do all of that. Plus when I need it to quit it has a head phone jack. So I will not make My Wife mad when I want to play late at night.

This amp sounds awesome

By Michael J on September 13, 2022 Music Background: I have been playing guitar since 1976. Recording session work and churches. BIG churches.

I just received my Vypyr X2 yesterday. Sweetwater got it to me in 4 days can you believe that? I already knew what it sounded like because I tried it against several other famous amps at a local store. My experience with Sweetwater has been so good I only buy from them. This is the best sounding solid state amp I ever played. I can only describe the sound as "big and deep." The interface had me scratching my head a little but in just a day I understand it. I had to make up my mind if I wanted a feature laden amp with effects loop and a zillion features and fantastic app but sounded just okay, or an amp that sounds amazing out of the box with no bells and whistles. I chose the latter which is the Peavey Vypyr. I am going to order the Sanpera foot switch for it today. I cannot wait to play a soft melodic rhythm into the looper unit and come back with a 6505-like lead over it. I hope my review was helpful.

3 Amps in One + all the pedals you could need

By Amanda Marinovich from Butte, MT on August 10, 2023 Music Background: Lifelong multi-instrument,

This is a great value for anyone who's regularly switching instruments and sounds.
I think the only thing is that there's a learning curve in using all the different amps and effects and finding the sound you want. I wish it came with an instruction manual that talks about all the different options. The getting started video is helpful but it's not quite complete. Not for a beginner who just wants to plug in and play.
That being said, I'm so happy with this. It's 300 bucks for this, or that x3 for electric, a/e, and bass amps, plus well over a thousand for all the pedals. It's really an incredible deal. Looks like there's a newer model that might address some of the usability issues so maybe lookout for that.

Not happy

By Dennis Jarosz from WILMINGTON, NC on August 22, 2023 Music Background: Musician

I prefer a tube sound, but I use this for home practice and back-up for live performance. With less than 10 hours of use, the amp has been shipped back to Peavy twice for for the same issue (warranty service/repair 2-3 week turnaround time).
While in use, the amp intermittently powers down and restarts. Customer service at Peavy is questionable. Buyer remorse.

Buzzy, Fake sounding

By Sweetwater Customer from VA on January 19, 2023

As a bass amp, had a bad buzz/rattle at certain frequencies.

From a modeling standpoint, sounded cheesy/fake. Returned this amp.
