Vienna Symphonic Library's Dimension Brass II fortifies your original Vienna Dimension Brass I collection with muted ensembles and a new Wagner tuba ensemble. The three muted brass ensembles consist of four players each (trumpets, trombones, and French horns are recorded with straight mutes). The Wagner tubas - specialized tenor horns originally created for the composers's epic "Der Ring des Nibelungen" opera cycle - produce a somber, aristocratic sound similar to a trombone but with a mellower tone, more like that of a French horn (with which they share their mouthpiece and fingering). As such, in an orchestral setting, they are traditionally played by horn players. Besides Wagner's Ring, they have occasionally appeared in orchestral works by Bruckner, Strauss, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, and Varese.

As with Vienna Dimension Brass I, these ensembles were recorded in groups, employing dedicated mics for each of the four players. This results in a homogenous sound, while giving you access to each individual voice. Dimension Brass II works with the free Vienna Instruments player (included); however, Sweetwater recommends using Vienna Instruments Pro, which gives you the full benefits of these multidimensional samples. With Vienna Instruments Pro, you can easily tweak the sonics, player positioning, volume, and performance accuracy of the individual musicians in the ensembles. Auto-divisi mode lets you split voices - play one note, and you'll get four players in unison; playing two notes will divide an ensemble into sections of two players, etc. The Humanize presets make it easy to control performance accuracy in real time, at the touch of a fader.
