This is a must have item if you own the Vox vt guitar amplifier series amp. You can easily change channels and effects with it.

If you're getting the amp....you MUST get this footswitch ! It's built like a tank and works great !

Incredible value Absolute top quality

By Malachi Gaurnier from FORT LAUDERDALE, FL on November 29, 2021

I was surprised when I received this pedal and noticed the quality and even more surprised when I programmed it to my vox Cambridge 50 amp. Super heavy duty metal. This seems to be built for professional use on tours. Programming to my fox Cambridge 50 amp was very easy, and I am not a tech savvy person. I easily programmed eight different amp settings for this foot switch. Incredible value for the money!

Does what is supposed to do very well .

Highly recommend!

By Izzy Talavera from Illinois on April 12, 2019

This is my first footswitch for any amp I've owned. But, I can't recommend this enough! While it can take some getting used to, owning the amp this is made for, without having this footswitch would be like getting a TV without the channel changer! You can switch between channels, and effects, and also reverb- separately! Definite must buy!

Vox 5 Button Foot Pedal

Bought this to use with a Vox VXII modeling amp. Works great, well made and very durable. You can set up two banks of effects. Great price, fast shipping.

Great service

I am just a novice guitar player getting started, but I try to do lots of research before I make purchases. Besides having the best price for this item, their service, follow up, and shipping were all exceptional!

It works great!

A Serious Must-Have

By Rick Sr from Wyoming on April 28, 2017 Music Background: Lifetime Music Pro

I purchased the VOX Model VFS5 VT (an obviously clever pseudonym for Vox Foot Switch w/ 5 buttons; for VT Amp Series) for use with my new VOX amp, and, in short.. I LOVE the thing! If you own, or are buying a VOX VT Series amp (and I highly suggest you do), you will soon be Jones-ing for one of these controllers for sure. Unless you like bending down and turning knobs; or at the very least leaning over a lot, it's worth it.
This VOX Foot Controller is really heavy and solid. The foot switch push-buttons will select up to 2 Banks of 4 pre-set amp voicings (total of 8) that you have created with VOX's Tone Room software, as well as allowing you to select different effects all with the same foot switch. To switch from selecting amp configurations to selecting effects, you just step on and hold Button #3 for a couple seconds to change functions, and you do the same to get back to amp choices. Rubber pad on the bottom keeps it from sliding around onstage or in the studio. Made of good quality, heavyweight steel and it won't slide around. The super-lo-o-ong cable lets you keep this controller right where you need it. You're not tied to a short string like a lot of cheap controllers. Totally worth purchasing!

Ying and Yang:VFS5 and VT20X are a Perfect Pair

By HaveMercyMissPercy from ATX on June 3, 2016

This review is for the foot controller but also includes a shout out for the new VOX VT20X we are using it with. Using the VOX Tone software editor to create your own pre-sets is sweet enough, but the added flexibility of using the VFS5 foot controller to switch back n forth is akin to a real pedal board. The 5 stars are actually for both units together. The construction of the controller is very solid. Real metal construction and quality switches, nothing cheap or second rate about this foot controller. Does what it is supposed to and looks sleek doing it! A VT amp becomes a whole 'nuther beast with this under foot. A must have for any VT series amp.

VT20+ Tunes Demonstration Love it !!!

I was not expecting a so great sound and features from a small and affordable amp. The effects, both analog and digital are really great.

A Must have for VOX VT series amps

By Carlos from Buffalo,NY on November 6, 2015 Music Background: Guitarrist who loves blues, hard rock and prog rock

If you own a Vox VT series amp, you definitely must buy this controller. It not only give you the switch control of your user effects presets, but also let you change some parameters using the foot switches.

Great accessory for a very reasonable price. I'm using mine on a VT20+ amp and a Telecaster Guitar.

Solid and useful

By ethan from oregon on December 18, 2020 Music Background: learning it all over again

I got this for use with the fantastic AV30/60 (I have an AV30). It works as advertised, no fuss: channel switch (which for the most part I use as a lead/mid/treble boost), and reverb/chorus/delay on/off and delay tap tempo.

It is solidly built and turns the amp into a one box gig rig. The other reviewer who says it doesn't work with the AV60 likely either has a defective pedal or a defective AV60.

I know there are complaints about a lack of LEDs, but honestly I don't see the point for the AV series: the LED is active for the channel switch, and if you can't hear whether you have delay or chorus or reverb on, then you got bigger problems than LEDs!

Maybe it makes a little more sense to have LEDs for the VT series. I am not familiar enough to comment. I haven't made the move to digital modeling, unless you count my digital chorus, delay and reverb pedals.

Essential Accessory

By Sweetwater Customer from MD on August 31, 2019

I'm not gigging with my VT100x, but just the same like the ability to switch effects mid song, hands free. This does the trick, simply (once you setup your desired presets in tone room). Built solid, and fairly inexpensive...

Subtracted a half star because you still need to switch over to user presets mode on the amp panel, but is just a tiny nit.

Vox VT Series Foot Controller

By Notary Sojack from Upper Left Edge on December 9, 2014 Music Background: Simi-pro performer

This foot controller belies the lightweight construction of the VT 20+ amp I use it with. It's really rugged and feels like it will last a long time. It works just as advertized in that it lets you have control over the store tone bank sounds you've created on the amp. I hesitated to buy it at first due to the cost and I'm sorry I did.

A must have

Great little pedal! Solidly built, easy to program. If you have a Vox VT series amp you need this pedal. It's a lot of fun. Highly recommended!!

Works as Expected

By Stephen from Wake Forest NC on February 17, 2022 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter

I bought this pedal to use with my Boss Drum Machine, and it works as expected. It would be nice if it had a changeable label plate to identify the functions and not just CH 1, 2, 3 4.

I use this controller on a drum machine that is used with a duo to add a little depth. It works as advertised but is a replacement for the same controller I got from Sweetwater when I got the drum machine. Hope this one last longer than the first one. Service from T J Jackson was really good and Sweetwater service was great as always...

Makes any compatible VOX amp much more flexible. 8 different settings available at the tap of your toe. No VOX VT Series amp should be sold without one.

Vox VFS5 - Beginner's review

By Ben Taggart from Monroe, WA on February 21, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist musician.

I cannot complain about this foot switch for the Vox Valvetronix series of amps. (I have the 40-amp version.) It does everything the amp's manual claims, and it's great for controlling your sound while playing.

The missing star is only because the switches squeek audibly. It's not so loud that it will be heard on stage or even in a recording, that I can tell, but a quieter switch would be an improvement.

Does the job -- a bit pricey.

By Mike H from Detroit Lakes, MN on July 7, 2010 Music Background: Solo Show Weekend Warrior and Band Member, 10 yrs plus

I have found that this switch works best with presets, and that's why I got it. It works for tap tempo and turning effects on and off, too. It's great to be freed up from pushing buttons on the amp mid-song. If you own a VT amp, you know that there are sometimes some unusual sounds that happen when you switch settings. They still happen using the footswitch, so a quick spin of the volume pot on your guitar is sometimes in order.
Overall, the pedal does exactly what it's advertised to do, and seems solidly built, in my opinion. I would have given it a 4.0 (I have yet to give a 5) if it had LEDs over each channel button. Plus, it's a bit expensive, but worth it not to have to push amp buttons by hand. Hope this helped!

Needs Work

By Isaac from NC on January 10, 2010 Music Background: Hobbyist, Live Sound Engineer

I recently bought this for my VT100 2x12 amp and have not exactly been thrilled since. I does the job, but the transitions between settings are very jerky and are not good for quick mid-song switching. The footswitch doesn't disable the controls on your amp, so you can accidentally change the setting with your amp while using the footswitch. Also I wish you could have the option of using your own cord (longer or shorter) to hook it up to an amp, 1)so you can use a shorter chord for practice 2)so you can use a longer cable for live performances (front of stage to backline 3)so you aren't out $60 if the cable shorts out --- OK product but Vox needs to redesign it.

Does The Job But Lacks Features

By Chad from Kansas on September 13, 2017 Music Background: 30 year guitar player

The foot controller works as it's supposed to, but there are a couple of things with the design that they should change. I bought this to go with my new Vox VT100X amp (which I love, btw - see my review on it). I will compare this foot controller to my Fender Mustang 4 button foot controller, of which I have hads a lot of experience using. First, unlike the Mustang controller, there are no LEDs above each button to let you know which button is the active one. Second, there is no LED screen in the middle. The Mustang controller has a screen in the middle that is very useful for tuning. When I'm playing with the band or gigging in a bar, I don't want to have to turn around and walk over to look at the top of my amp while tuning. Due to this shortcoming, I was forced to purchase a separate tuner pedal. Lastly, I don't like the fact that the cable is wired into the controller. The Mustang controller has a jack on the side into which you plug in your cable. That would be handy if the cable ever goes bad or I simply want a different length. Overall, this controller does the job, but for essentially the same price as the Mustang amp controller, I would expect the same features. This one falls short on many of those and therefore I can't give it a very good rating. Unfortunately, this is the controller I was forced to purchase since, to my knowledge, it is the only 4 button that controls this amp.

The bare minimum - should have been packaged with the amp

By CURTIS HENKEN from Wisconsin, USA on October 3, 2016

I have had this for a long time. I use it with the VT40+ combo amp. The VT20+, 40+, 80+, and 120+ all dictate you use this controller. Vox should have had an alternative (even if it was $100) that added LEDs for each button (so you know which preset is selected) and included the tuner feature (that the amps have built-in) on the controller.

Unfortunately, even though this pedal is used on 11 amps (most out of production), Vox hasn't done this one right. It is not usable in a live environment, which is ironic because most of these amps only sound good at loud levels. Maybe it was a limitation of using the TRS cable, and if so, they should have made the decision to switch to a multi-pin.

In conclusion, yes you have to get this controller if you have any Vox amp that uses it - but shame on Vox for not having a little creativity. With such limited ability, it should have been including with the amp for free.

Does not work with AV60

By Patrick McAtee from Pennsylvania on April 7, 2019

This footswitch does not seem to work the way it is explained in the manual for the AV60. The bank switch and tap seem to work, but CH1 does not do anything and CH2 and CH4 turn on/off two effects simultaneously The only way to get one effect on is to press the CH2 and CH4 in a certain permutation. The manual made it seem as though MOD, DEL, and REV where each turned on/off with one button. Either I got a bad product or the people at VOX didn't program this correctly for the AV60 or they wrote the manual incorrectly.
