Zoom v3

By Chuck W. from Indianapolis
Music Background: Weekend warrior since 1965

So far pleased with the ease of use. Was surprised that it didn't come with a power supply and that had to be purchased separately. The batteries worked fine but lasted only 4 hours

Great item!

By Phil B. from Orlando, Fl
Music Background: Play small gigs, American Legion, Moose Clubs, Honky-tonks, benefits, etc.

I've been playing guitar for 70 years and then I bought a Casio keyboard and rigged it up with hay baling string, paint paddles and velcro. Now I can play all three at the same time, and sing but I needed some harmony, so I bought the Zoom v3 multi-effects vocal processor and it's great. Jeff Bohan, my sales rep. for Sweetwater set me up. He's 100% and knows his stuff, very courteous, and efficient. If you need to purchase anything from Sweetwater, ask for Jeff. He's the man.

Meh

By Francis W. from BLOOMINGDALE, NY

I bought this to use as a harmonizer when one of our vocalists is unable to be at a gig. I'm less than impressed. Sounds too robotic. It would also be better if it had a XLR output to go to the mixing board, instead of 1/4". This unit will be collecting dust.

Mostly Wonderful!

By Shannon from Tennessee

I was looking for a SIMPLE harmonizer that I could easily turn on and off while on stage, but that doesn't rely on an instrument because I am singing and not playing. I wasn't keen on relying on a guitar player to hit all the right chords to ensure harmonies are accurate. I ordered the pedal attachment, and it works great. The harmonies are good, too. But, I find that because it's not tuned into an instrument, it can only do so much. Sometimes it is WAY off, so you have to practice with it ahead of time to know which songs it will work on and which it will not. This little guy came through in a pinch when I had a band with no harmonies to back me up. The fill-in was helpful.

I LOVE this processor, I can't sing, but this can make me sound a little better. And it's fun...

Might work for a singer-songwriter, but...

By Steve L. from CLEVELAND, OH

I play guitar and "sing" in kind of a weird post-punk/psyche band, and this thing tends to quit on me in the middle of a song. I stopped using it after about 4 or 5 attempts during which it quit on me every time. It's OK in the studio, but a bunch of the presets are just garbage and unusable. it would be much better with changeable parameters on the delay and reverb.

Great product

By Mike U. from Houston Texas
Music Background: 45+ years musician and toy collector

The V3 is super easy to use… pick an effect and simply dial it in to your satisfaction. The auto tune feature is also straightforward and dial in. It doesn't really sound the most professional, but if you want to go all out with an over-used sound you hear too often today, get a dedicated download and fake it to your heart's desire! Overall, this unit has everything you need to make tracks or perform on the fly in front of thousands of adoring fans. A great buy— totallly worth the money. :-)

Buyer Beware: Mine Broke after 6-7 months

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Professional Musician and Singer-Songwriter

I was using my Zoom V3 happily to record at home the day I brought it to a gig to use there - the first time I took it to a gig. I bought it last November from Sweetwater. When I got to the gig, it would not turn on even though I had just put fresh batteries in. So I plugged it in - I'd bought the OPTIONAL (why?) plug-in power supply. Still would not turn on. Mind you - I brought a CONDENSER mic to this gig, which REQUIRED THE PHANTOM POWER TO BE SUPPLIED BY THE V3 FOR MY MIC TO WORK. SO SINCE THE V3 WAS BROKEN, I HAD NO MIC TO USE LAST NIGHT (AT THE GIG). I would NEVER trust this device on a gig - yet I'm hoping Sweetwater gets me a replacement, to use (ONLY) at home again, because it produced a decent sound for recording.

does much for use with wind instruments

By bob r. from Philly area
Music Background: started in 5th grade and have not stopped after retirement from day job

i mounted it on a mike stand and have had no problems other than the output ix not xlr, but works fine with adapter..
Will use it on some upcoming gigs and see how that fits in with various needs according to the set lists.
Presets would be nice, but cost is great compared to some other similar devices.

V3 vs. TC Performance Ve

By Jon B. from Austin, TX, USA
Music Background: xex, Bronx Irish Catholics

VERY different from the TC Performance VE. Basically, you set up the compressor, delay & reverb levels, then add 1 other effect at a time from the button matrix on the V3. The TC is more complex, in that you can stack a bunch of fx and save them in 3 presets AND it has a looper.
So why use a V3? The harmonizer, the harmonizer, the harmonizer. You get 1 or 2 "voices" from 5 choices. Other than the 5 "voice-choice" buttons, the only adjustment is the balance between dry & harmony voices. It's enough.
The distortion & telephone voice are good too. We'll have to experiment with the V3 live, since the V3 doesn't have a noise gate (unlike the TC). My take? I Use 1 mic with the TC for lead and 1 mic with the V3 for backup vocals.

Bang for the buck!

By Lord T. from Dirty South
Music Background: Artist/ Producer

Good quality fx in an easy to use package. I wish there was more tweakability to the fx. I understand that they kept it simple for live use. At which it excels. But it is also a good although limited processor in the studio. The pre-amp is excellent and I love the harmonizer. Overall a great processor. And you can't beat the price.
