Bogner Uberschall Mk2 150-watt Tube Head Reviews

150-watt, 2-channel Tube Head with 3-band EQ, 6 Modes, Presence/Depth/Density, Voice Modes, Metamorph Control, FX Loop, and Line Out - KT88 Version

Boasting a whopping 150 watts of KT88-fueled might and up to seven stages of cascading gain, the Uberschall Mk2 delivers extended lows and highs, plus more raw power, than its EL34-loaded sibling. This dual-channel, high-gain amp head is packed to the brim with versatility, with each channel featuring three different modes to tailor your tone from pristine cleans to cutting crunch all the way to modern metal brutality. Moreover, high-gain fanatics will love how the incredibly heavy Channel 2 also sports a 3-position voicing switch (Doom, Focused, and Bright) and a tightness-shaping Metamorph control for serious sonic control over every aspect of your sound. The power amp offers its own robust set of sound-shaping controls — global Presence, Depth, and Density — and it's all finished off with a 4-button footswitch that gives you hands-free access to the channel select, onboard Gain Boost, second master volume, and FX loop.

Best Uber to date!

By Eddie L. from Los Angeles on July 27, 2023

This Uber is it! All the tone shaping options are so powerful and effect the feel and tone significantly. You can get any high gain tone you could possibly ever want out of this amp when you learn how to dials work and interact. The high end has really been tuned up nicely to have none of those fizzy piercing frequencies some previous Ubers had. the amp is top notch. I have the kt88 version and I don't think I've ever experience a more powerful amp! It's truly amazing!

Uber high gain!

By Rigo from Bakersfield, CA on June 16, 2023

I have used reviews in the past that have helped me with gear and after 48 hrs with this amp, I feel I need to pay it forward a bit and give my fingers a break. First off, this amp is a serious ultra-high gain monster! Chances are if you are looking at the Uberschall, you already know that. Plainly put, this amp is fn' savage! One of the many perks of the amp is that it doesn't need to pushed very hard to get there. It can deliver great tone at bedroom levels. It doesn't take very long for you to want to crank it though. Bogner is really listening bc the high / fat switch in conjunction with the Metamorph dial is an absolute game changer. I really don't see how competing amp makers are going to go forward with out incorporating a similar tone sculpting tools. I really don't. The BE-50 and the VH4 have a similar thump / depth / deep response controls and, similarly, this makes for a great and effective tone sculpting option that can deliver chordal clarity or bellowing / thundering rhythm or a little bit of both. I am currently running the amp through an Orange PPC412 and a Peavey powered 18" sub through the effects loop. The Uberschall comes with a 4 button foot switch that includes an FX Loop open/close which is a great for utility and versatility, it's not an afterthought. The FX loop is also a very smooth and clean exchange. It also has a line out that is recommended to be used with an IR loader, which is a nice modern option. I mainly play standard, half step down, and 7 string A standard and many amps can't accommodate the 7 string or lower tunings without using outboard pedals to tighten the flub. Not here, the Uberschall can tighten or deepen the low frequency response to get you the best of all worlds without sacrificing the massive brutal tone. It comes with built in boost, also accessible on the foot switch, which is nice, but I really liked the tone with out the boost, less compressed and open, yet a quality boost option. it also has 2 master volumes, also available via foot switch, if need to go over the top for a lead and such. the gain modes / stages are really nice and you can dial it back and get nice rock / hard rock response which really makes this amp great for all genres. This amp is a workstation as well as a stage workhorse. I couldn't be happier! it has certainly cured my GAS...for now. If you love modded Marshall tones this is one of thee best! You won't have any regrets with this amp. Whatever metal / hard rock guitar hero you are chasing, this amp has caught them. Also, I didn't get chance to try out the cleans, but I don't think you came to hear about those anyway. Shout out to Benjamin, my Sweetwater rep!
