TASCAM US-4x4HR USB Audio Interface Reviews
The TASCAM US-4x4HR USB-C audio/MIDI interface (PC/Mac/iOS) brings rich 192kHz audio, dependable 5-pin MIDI in/out, and super-low-latency tracking and monitoring to your home or mobile studio setup. The US-4x4HR's quartet of onboard Ultra-HDDA mic preamps give you 57dB of clean gain to capably drive most dynamic mics and onboard +48V phantom power to support your studio condensers. Each channel has a TRS input, gain knob, and signal and peak LED indicators. Additionally, Channels 1 and 2 give you impedance switches for direct input of guitars, bass, and other instruments. You also get MIDI in and out for interfacing with your keyboard controllers and drum machines. Perhaps best of all, the TASCAM US-4x4HR delivers all of these features over USB bus power — just a single USB-C cable (included) from your laptop to your interface is all you need for power and connectivity. As for monitoring, the TASCAM US-4x4HR gives a 1/4-inch headphone out and two sets of stereo 1/4-inch line outs, each with independent level controls so you can mix projects on loudspeakers or your favorite studio cans. If you're looking for a USB-C interface that's equally at home in the studio or on the road, the TASCAM US-4x4HR USB-C audio/MIDI interface from Sweetwater is worth a look.

It's the same as the US series, but improves on the audio quality.
I'm upgrading from the TASCAM US 2x2 to this unit, the US 4x4 HR. The HR series improves on the old ones by upping the audio quality, hence the "HR" which stands for "High resolution". So far so good! I'll edit the review later once I've had time to study the results I get after I've recorded a song with it. But I'm giving it 5 stars out the gate for ease of use, 0 lag input/track monitoring, and build quality. I love these interfaces, and the new ones are no exception.
Tascam 4x4
For the past couple years, I had been looking to upgrade my older Focusrite Solo interface, as I wanted something with lower latency, but also something I could plug-n-play into my newer IPad / GarageBand that required a USB-C. I had looked and tried other interfaces but they were either not user friendly, or most notably required utilization of the mfg software, but I had zero desire to go through the learning curve of some new software just to get my tracks into GarageBand. This Tascam was just the ticket! Took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to start recording with it! I should note this unit does require the mfg's software for non-IOS devices. As always, a big shout out to Jimmy for his help.
Very nice interface
I have been using a Yamaha 10 input stereo out usb mixer for an interface with Cubase in Windows 10 and was very happy except for the number of USB channels. I just bought the us4x4hr to allow 4 independent channels for recording. After installing the asio and interface control software it connected immediately and, after changing the audio connections in Cubase, has worked flawlessly. Inputs are clean with dynamic and condenser mics and guitar. Essentially the same low noise as the Yamaha, so I'm very happy. Also started using it as general audio interface for meetings with MS Teams and works great there too. In short, no problems and great performance.
Does the job
tascam uses manipulative tactics that I abhor but this product functions well and seems solid
It Works, I like it.
if you're looking to buy this, and you make music or mix music, i recommend getting a bigger one. i bought this as an "add-on" interface to have more I/O; just create a an Aggregate Audio Device in audi/midi setup; my main interface/master clock is a UAD ARROW; crazy how the price doubled on UAD interface since 2018. UAD's desktop software console is my favorite so far. This 4x4 has desktop software and its very basic.
this tascam unit is fine. in all honesty its been to great to me so far.
helps me in production, DI synths into this. If i use 1/4-inch male Dual 1/4-inch TS Male Patch Insert/Splitter cables, it gives me 4 stereo synths. Use it in when i'm mixing to run external gear ie. big sky verb, juno chorus pedal, and i just picked up the Catalina Topanga spring reverb.
Sounds good, problem with 48v
Hi all, I am using the US4x4HR with four condenser microphones, AKG747's, and ran into an issue. When I plug in three mics, I have no problem, but ad the fourth and input number two loses power. I am using the wall wart, so it should provide enough power, but it isn't working. I can plug a dynamic into channel two and it works fine.
