Couldn't Be Happier

By ROBERT from Massachusetts on October 3, 2021 Music Background: Journeyman Guitarist

I bought this guitar back in 2013 so I could practice at work on my breaks. I work in a machine shop and wanted something that wouldn't attract attention but had a full size neck. This seemed the best likely choice for me and I was not disappointed !! This guitar is almost silent acoustically but with an earphone amp and earphone sounds GREAT !! Also plugging into a full size amp produces a nice rich tone that is surprisingly good.
It's small size does take a little getting used to but it's easy to store in a locker (at work) or an airplane overhead compartment.
Changing the strings is a little more of a challenge than what most of us are used to but can be done with a bit of patience. It's not much to look at aesthetically, but that is not what we are going for here anyway, however, the fit and finish work on mine was really well done. Fret ends were nicely dressed. The frets were not gritty at all and the finger board was nice and smooth. No complaints at all, really.
My thanks to Sweetwater for their GREAT customer service and providing just what I need just when I need it !!

Incredible

By Guitar Zan from Hawaii on June 6, 2021 Music Background: Studio guitarist

I bought this and took it to Hawaii. I practiced for five hours all the way in the air. Incredible. It is highly playable. I am exclusively finger style with a thumb pick and it is perfect for practicing with a tiny Vox plug in amp a dear buds. It is called acoustic because it has a piezo compared to an electric pickup. Which makes sense. And It does produce an adequate acoustic sound in the earbuds. It is not made for ambient sound. And that's a good thing especially in a packed airplane. I tuned it slack down C to C and it is fine with slack style. Excellent for blues and country chicken Picken. Harmonics are great. Overall I am very happy with it. All you complainers out there STPhU go take a happy pill and chill your complaining pie hole. Except for something that arrived broken and in that case just exchange it., I can't believe that someone would give this guitar a poor review.

Traveler Ultra-Light Acoustic Electric Guitar

By Linda from CT on April 5, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate guitarist

The Traveler Ultra-Light Acoustic Electric guitar met my need as a great instrument for practicing in silence with or without headphones when I am away from my other guitar. The solid maple neck matches the feel of my full-sized guitar and so does its full-scale length, making the transition between instruments optimum. It stays in tune well and its compact size makes it perfect for any kind of travel. Plugged into a small amplifier at home, it sounds quite decent.

I would like to give a shout out to sales engineer Jeff Law and all those at Sweetwater. I cannot say enough about their dedication to serving the customer's needs by promptly answering questions and offering their expert advice. This was my first Sweetwater purchase, but it will not be my last.

Traveler Guitar Light

By Robert Lingenfelter from Delaware on March 21, 2021 Music Background: Guitar Players/performer...

This guitar works perfect for me to sit in the living room with the wife, and her not hearing me pick. It's great to do extra work while watching tv. I also use it on vacation trips where I can just put my headphones on with the amp accessor I bought so only I can hear it...love this little travel guitar...

The best compact travel guitar I have tried, hands down

By John Sparkman from Harvest, Alabama on June 3, 2020 Music Background: Lifelong guitar player, band leader, all around musician and guitar addict.

I must state right up front that I'm a guitar fanatic, a band leader, and a gigging musician with the obligatory day job to pay the bills.

This Traveler Ultra Light is the best of all the portable traveling guitars I have ever tried or owned.
(And by that, I mean that I have borrowed from a friend the Martin Backpacker, meh, and I have owned the Washburn Rover, a Glen Burton machine gun guitar, a Rogue lap steel, and the Hofner Shorty travel guitar.)

All of them had their strong points and their weak ones too.
Thin sounding, one-trick-ponies, gimmick guitars, whatever.
None of them lasted long with me.

This one is different.
It hangs well from the guitar strap on my upper torso, and the baseball bat neck feels smooth and substantial.
The acoustic sounds are great for playing in a hotel while on travel, and, plugged in, I get a versatile set of tones at all volumes and levels of mild distortion and effects.

It seems better suited to analog amps when played out loud, and is just fine with digital guitar effects processors when you are wearing your headphones. Some digital effects are not friendly to it when played loudly, so bring the amp volumes up slowly.

The fret ends are dressed nicely, and it's ergonomically comfortable when playing.
And the light weight makes it a joy to play for extended periods of time.

I haven't tried the (included) leg brace structure thingie, but then again, I rarely play seated.

I really like this guitar.
I give it two thumbs up.

Good for what it is

By John K on May 9, 2019 Music Background: Semi-pro

It fits in your luggage, but has a full size fret board. What else can i say. With the wire lap spacer in place it"s not too too awkward while sitting. Standing with a strap feels a little more natural, but the end pin is kind of big, so the strap end is kind of tenuous. It is a little disconcerting not having a head stock, but that"s why it fits in your luggage. The neck is fat like an acoustic, Plugged in it doesn"t sound bad. It has a truss rod, so you can fail in the relieve, and there is plenty if saddle to work it"s if you need the action a little lower, After a half turn to bring the relieve into spec, the action is fine for me.

I bought it to have something to practice on for a three week vacation, and it fits the bill perfectly. I don"t think i"ll Touch it till the next vacation, but for what I need it for it"s perfect.

The Best Travel Guitar You Can Buy

By Scott from Everett, WA on July 29, 2021

Pros: It's as compact as a full scale guitar can possibly be. It is easy to travel with. Overall construction is solid. You can take it to work and play guitar on your lunch break. You can throw it in an airplane overhead bin without worrying too much. Dead simple electronics arrangement with direct output and no knobs.

Cons: The piezo pickup sounds very bad, but so do all bridge piezo systems. The low E string is noticeably quieter than the others. String ends sticking out from the tuners rip my shirt. It feels pretty awkward to play compared to a full size guitar. The walnut fingerboard is soft and grainy feeling. A maple fingerboard would have been much better. The tail strap button/output jack is badly designed. It is so large that none of my straps fit securely over it, and it easily comes loose. The strap button placement results in an awkward resting position. The lap rest is loose and rattly, and doesn't make sense for me in any playing position. When unplugged it's quieter than an unplugged full size electric, which may be good or bad. The tuners are harder to use than on a full size guitar.

This is probably the best and simplest travel guitar you can get. The tradeoffs necessary to make it a great travel guitar compromise its usefulness as a general instrument.

Ground issue

By Steve Leslie from Missouri on April 24, 2021 Music Background: Professional

The guitar seems fine other than a ground issue when plugged in, which makes it unusable for me. I noticed this immediately; I'm not sure how it passed the 55 point inspection.

What a Waste

By Brian Jackson from NV on January 13, 2021

This is advertised as an acoustic guitar; however, when you play it, it sounds like your strumming an electric guitar that is not plugged in. This is not an acoustic guitar by any means.

If you're one (like me) that likes to lay their pinky on the body of the guitar while picking, you're out of luck. They've placed the tuning knobs in the body making it impossible to establish a comfortable picking hand.

This guitar is awful -- I wish I could give it zero stars.

P.S. This is no knock on Sweetwater. As always, their service and support have been fantastic!!! A+++

Now I'm off to return this ill-advised purchase.
