Absolute garbage

By Ben K. from Vestavia Hills, AL
Music Background: Professional musician

It worked ok for about 9 months - but it never automatically powered on with stage power. You would always have to manually turn it on. For any hidden rack mounts, this was a seriously annoying design flaw.

Then last week, it started randomly turning off for no apparent reason - in the middle of a performance.

We're past the return/warranty window but honestly, it's so unreliable we will never be buying another one of these again.

RIDICULOUS AUTO SHUTOFF

By Sweetwater Customer

It's cheap so yeah didn't expect the best sound. With a bunch of EQ I can get it sounding better. But OMG whatever idiot thought this horrible auto shutoff disaster was a good idea should be fired. So wish I hadn't bought it. Hopefully Behringer will come to their senses and release a firmware update that fixes this bug (that's what it is) and then for the money I'd recommend it. The way it is don't buy unless you want your shows bagged and your performers ticked at you.

Not a Bad Start

By Geoff from COLUMBUS, OH
Music Background: I’ve been playing music with my friend, Dan, for a long time. We started a project called The Theos Variant in 2023 and are looking forward to playing live in the near future.

This is nice so far. I have enjoyed getting familiarized with integrating these into my rig. I purchased two units to add to my rack.

My 3 star review is due to a couple things.

1. The units are 1u. To make them fit inside of the rack with all of the other components, I needed to remove the little rubber feet. It wasn't a difficult process, but maybe they shouldn't be on there in the first place and made as an optional choice if you choose to keep the unit outside of a rack.

2. The antenna on the belt pack seems kind of flimsy. I'm honestly surprised it's not detachable. I have a feeling it will be the first piece that breaks.

3. I haven't had the units long enough to determine anything about the battery life… but as others have said, always have some backup batteries available for gigs.

4. If the units aren't receiving audio after a short period of time, they will in fact turn off.

Hopefully there are more options and additional features in future models.

But as far as affordability goes, this definitely feels like a good start until I upgrade to something else.

Best at its price range.

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Worship leader, musicians. Home Studio.

This is an entry level IEM. Don't expect it to be like Shure or Sennheiser.

Cons: There is a bit of white noise when the music isn't played but once everyone starts playing or singing, it is not noticeable. Some say even high ends IEMS might have a bit of white noise sometimes.

Pros: No latency issues. Strong signal.Clear and Good volume. The earbuds are ok. They also put batteries! Also a 3 inch cable so if you want stereo mode, you have to buy a quarter inch cable. Can't beat the price!

I bought 2 transmitters and 8 receivers for a worship group. One stereo channel for singers and the other for musicians.Haven't tested out in church but so far it's good for house music room use. I had bad experiences with Galaxy iem. So unless you're gonna spend extra bucks on shure or sennheiser, get this.

Almost, but fell short

By Sweetwater Customer

This in-ear monitor system worked great, sounded great, range was good. No signal interference and great price. I thought we were a match made in heaven. Unfortunately I had to return it. Why? The pack eats batteries alive and if you're doing longer than a 3hr show, have a fresh pair ready to replace them. To make matters worse, the pack will not work with rechargeable batteries. Sorry Behringer, I love your products but you need to take care of that. I do a lot of shows and I don't feel like going through 100's of batteries a year.

Surprisingly Adequate!

By Dan S. from San Diego, CA
Music Background: Audio engineer

Using four kits with extra body packs, I mixed an 8-piece band (mono mixes) and no one complained about sound quality or reception. For the cost, this is an excellent product. It will absolutely do the job. And if you don't already have custom buds, those provided are robust

There are a few drawbacks. The body packs are plastic so I don't know how many times you can drop them before the case cracks (once?); that would be a bummer. There is no scanning or tuning frequencies; it's just groups and channels. You can't network them. Depending on your locale, the amount of units you're able to use simultaneously may be pretty limited. Where I am, TV channels eat up about half of the 584-608mhz range. The transmitter has a power saving feature that puts it to sleep when not seeing signal. I would rather they didn't do that. Lastly, and this is just weird, the rack mounting brackets are stupid. To mount two transmitters in one rack space, you need to mount a bracket to both units and then bolt them together top and bottom. The problem is the screw holes in the brackets were poorly thought out (if at all). Without modifications being made, the brackets sit off kilter and the coupled units take up more than 1RU. I recommend either getting out the Dremel and maybe some Quicksteel or just buying a shelf on which to mount them.

I know it probably seems like a bunch of cons, but it's still a great product for small bands or individuals, equivalent in quality to the cheaper Shures and Sennheiser at a more reasonable price. So, 4 stars and I plan to buy more when they become available.

Very noisy and no replacements available

By Sweetwater Customer

Unacceptably noisy at low frequencies - there is a hiss that accompanies the notes coming through that makes it sound like there's a snare drum snare rattling.
If I play high guitar notes they come through pretty clean, but low notes on the guitar get noisier and noisier. Bass guitar is half signal, half noise. My piezo stomp drum pedal is just all noise through it.
It's my first IEM system so I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I've tried multiple channels, two different locations, different cables, and I tried plugging in my good headphones instead of the earbuds with no luck.

Maybe my unit is just bad and a replacement would fix it, but these go out of stock very quickly and don't come back in stock, so I'm having to return the unit rather than wait for months for a replacement.

20 minute Stand-by feature made this unit a deal breaker for our church

By Michael F. from Marion, OH

We purchased one these units for our church to test out. The audio and build quality appears to be fairly decent but during our first of testing we did discover an issue that was a deal breaker for us. This unit has a 20 minutes standby feature that cannot be disabled according to behringer support. If the unit doesn't detect any audio for 20 minutes it automatically shuts off. This was discovered after we completed our morning service run through when our service started and our guitar player had no sound to his in-ears. Our stage boxes and other wireless transmitters are located behind stage and is a bit distracting to go back there and turn the unit back on. We had planned to purchase 3 more units plus a handful of receivers however we aren't sure deploying a workaround (external timer or smart plug) is worth it in the long term.

Best Value for the Dollar

By Terry V. from Eunice, LA
Music Background: Guitar player for 20 years, gear nerd

After having experimented with a few sub-$ systems this is easily the best. Audio quality is good, connectivity is good. As mentioned by another review there is some static sound at the lower frequency end of the bass guitar, which is not noticeable with other instruments in the mix. Definitely not a deal breaker for me. I let our worship leader (who uses a shure system) plug in and listen with his in-ears and he says it compares to the shure in audio quality. Many of the other budget systems I have used just don't carry the bass, which is the instrument I am playing. Definitely worth the money considering other units that are reliable cost between $.

Overall Very Good

By Sweetwater Customer

Overall these are very good and clear at a good distance. The only issue I have had is some static with the bass guitar. This is on multiple units and both the included ear buds as wells as KZs, so it seems to be the units ability to handle low frequencies. However, once there is other music with the bass, the static disappears. Overall, they performed far better than I expected and we have purchased several setups now and extra receivers and are very happy overall.

Fantastic

By Sweetwater Customer

As always, Behringer has provided a very good piece of gear at a super good price. Plenty of headroom and crystal clear. A bit gainey at the top but then so are the shures and why would in ears be that loud?!?!? An unexpected surprise are the included earbuds. They are comparable to the se215s.

Excellent System

By Tyler K. from Andover, MN

We got 5 of these for our church plus 5 of the additional packs. It works great and gets a nice clear signal. The setup manuals are a little lacking on the packs because the "bal" setting gives no indication you are on that page to make the adjustment to use the mixed mono mode.

The dual rack mount brackets also mount the units a bit . There might be a remedy to this, but it wasn't clear from instructions or during assembly.

However, once you figure out where everything is at, it takes about 1 minute for each system and pack and they function very nicely. The included in-ears are solid, but lack bass.

Overall, we are very happy with these especially for the price compared to other more common options.
