Great for home offices
I was looking for something for my home office, and this serves that purpose perfectly. It's small with a tenor ukulele scale, so you hold it more like a ukulele, but the nut spacing is more that of a classical guitar. I find the build quality and intonation great for the price of this instrument. It is well balanced, but a bit heavy around the neck joint. I will probably get a strap for it at some point to help support it while playing.
so much to love
Was really just looking for ukulele tones played like a guitar, but got so much more. Those tones are great, playability was spot on. I didn't need any set up like some of the reviews I had read prepurchase did. It's a gorgeous little guitar, and the Fishman onboard is just fantastic. Plugged in this instrument takes on a second life. I have even used my wireless set up and effect pedals on the regular now. What was meant to be for just a uke sound for couple of my songs has now become a valued member of the arsenal. I probably will add a strap peg once I get courage to drill, and that's the only thing missing. Yet to find a hook strap that works for my playing style. The gig bag is nice looking, tan, and probably all most will need but I grabbed a Luna tenor uke hardcase elsewhere as Sweetwater was out of stock to make it more road ready. Kyle at Sweetwater was so very helpful, as always, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Great Customer Service for a super fun Guitalele
I have an acoustic guitalele but needed to upgrade for live show performances. Gretsch is an amazing company so when I saw this long neck beauty I was excited! It's so much fun to play, and so beautiful. It's small, about the same size as a tenor ukulele, but surprisingly has a deep sound. If you want to play it in the same key as a guitar or ukulele its a capo on the 4th fret. The onboard tuner is great. I've already used it for shows and it sounds great through speakers. When the case I received came with a broken zipper, the team here at Sweetwater sent me a new one right away!! Such a good company and excellent service. Will continue to be a loyal customer! Thanks Sweetwater!
The G9126-ACE is more than expected and then some
This Gretsch Guitarlele is so much fun I have been reaching for it more and more for daily playing. It is built so well and the Fishman pickup is great. It has a unique sound and untethered range that fits many songs that I was not expecting. I have been playing ukelele's for years and this satisfies all the Uke needs as well as guitar sounds. It seems to have no limits.
My Uke
I gave one review after I got my gretsch Uke but I thought since I've had it a week or two I better update. About the 6 string Gretsch ukelele I would become a spokesperson for gretsch based just on this ukelele. I don't think I've ever had so much fun on any instrument in my life. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. That's how great just the acoustic side of it is. Now plug this bugger in to anything and BAMMMM. The crystal clear sound of a Gretsch. I hooked my delay up to it and my compressor and had a blast but you don't need anything for this thing to sound good. Not even an amp
9 stars
This is the best investment I've made! This thing is way too much fun! I sat down to try and play a few things the day after I got it in the mail. 3 hours later I was finally putting it down. Since I got mine not a day has gone by without me sitting down and playing something on it! I absolutely LOVE this little Gretsch!
Best thing I've done this year.
I have had so much fun playing this guitarlele it's hard to express it. Just like a guitar kapo'd at the 5th fret. Transposing on the fly is so easy. I have a tenor Uke and the body is the same size only deeper. The sound is so warm and good and the Fishman pickup is a bonus. In case you are unaware, when you kapo a guitar at the 5th fret your top 4 strings are GCEA, the same as a Uke. That makes it so easy to play uke tunes on this and it sounds even better with the two extra low strings. I cannot recommend this enough Gretsch made a great instrument as always.
My new favorite!
This Guitar-ukulele(guitalele) has brought a whole new life to me with music and writing. I was recently without power for 4 days and this instrument TOTALLY kept me sane.
I purchased this a little over a month ago and I CANNOT put the thing down. Oh top of that the customer service was amazing. I've never had a instrument store(online or at a shop) call me to assure the product is safely on it's way. The person even followed up again to check on on how I was enjoying me new purchase.
I Feel Good
Been playing a c level guilele for a couple months, then felt I deserved to move up. Shopped for days, and it came down to a Kala and the Gretsch. The Gretsch seemed to offer more in the way of quality features and was... more than the Kala. Great choice..... feels good in my hands, Fishman EQ works precisely. Plugged in sound is heavenly. I have 10 stringed instruments...this is now my favorite...
Gretsch A.C.E. G-9126 - Guitar Uke
Really like this instrument. Plays and sounds excellent acoustically and electrically. I've made one original tune using it.
Thanks Sweetwater.

Amazing Ukulele-Guitar
If I could give it 10 stars, I would. Sounds absolutely amazing. The intonation is perfect and the Fishman electronics are second to none. This is ideal for someone who wants to play a ukulele but is use to playing a guitar because you do not have to learn ukulele cords. The craftsmanship is excellent and I love the built in tuner. The individual adjustments for bass, middle and treble as well as a volume control knob, makes this capable of shaping the sound to your preference. I plugged it up to my Marshall amp and the sound was very crisp and clear with zero static. If you are not a finger picker and prefer to use a pick, get the felt picks because it really does improve the sound. I tried other brands before making a purchase and this Gretsch completely blows the competition away. If you ever have a desire for a 6 string ukulele, this is THE one to purchase. You will not be disappointed. Highly, highly recommended.
Play a Uke like a guitar!
I'm an old fart and at my age I'm not so inclined to learn something completely new, especially after playing guitar for over 55 years.
I always loved the sound of a ukulele but didn't have the stomach for learning new fingering on the fretboard.
In comes this little gem from Gretsch. Same fingering as a guitar, six strings for lots of places to roam and a tiny price.
This is a well made little instrument and is a kick to play. Opens up adding that traditional uke sound to my recordings/song writing and darn it, the little bugger is a nice looking addition to my arsenal. Comes with a very nice soft case - nicely padded and very well made.
Strings are so-so, but change them out and away you go! Highly recommended if you are like me and want the shortest learning curve possible. Price is great and it is very well made.
Too expensive for the sound quality
I am super sad with my purchase. I have a guitarlele, it was a gift from Colombia and the sound quality is above this guitarlele, and it only cost less than a quarter of the price of this grestch model. Don't waste your money, I just received mine a few hours ago and is not worth the price at all. And I'm not talking about sweetwaters (you guys are great), this is just grestch... bah!
