Kala Solidbody Fretless U-Bass Electric Bass Guitar - Tobacco Sunburst Reviews

4-string Fretless Electric Bass with Okoume Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and Single-coil Pickup - Tobacco Burst

Kala’s innovative bass designs get a fretless all-electric twist with the solidbody fretless U-Bass electric bass guitar! With its shortened 23.5-inch scale, this 4-string instrument is a blast to play for veteran and novice players alike. It’s an excellent travel companion or a great way to explore fretless bass without a large investment. But don’t be fooled by its size. The solidbody U-Bass is a carefully sculpted, highly capable instrument. A custom all-okoume body gives this U-Bass resonance like a full-sized bass guitar, and the body features deep cutaways for enhanced fingerboard access. Even if you’re new to fretless bass, this instrument keeps the learning curve negligible. A comfortable “C”-shaped Canadian maple neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard lined with 22 handy fret line markers that guide your fingertips. Plug the U-Bass in, and you’ll experience the punchy sound of a classic split-coil pickup that produces multiple gig- and studio-ready tones with just a few simple tweaks to the onboard controls. From warm, round thump to bright, funky punch, the solidbody fretless U-Bass from Sweetwater covers all your needs and then some.

I wanted to play a little bass ... so I got a little bass.

By John Vester from Zionsville, IN on March 25, 2024 Music Background: Casual musician who attended Berklee College of Music in the 1980s

Truth be hold, piano is my primary instrument ... but I have also spent quite a bit of time behind the drum kit too. Bass was something I've always wanted to play around with and I long considered trying to find a piccolo bass - since I heard they had a smaller scale size.

But then I saw the Kala U-Bass and watched several awesome reviews on YouTube. When I noticed there was a fretless version, I was all in - because if I am going to play bass, I really want that fretless sound.

So I picked up the U-Bass and the Fender Rumble 40 to go along with it. I can't stop playing around with this bass, as it is so fun, super-solid and sounds amazing. Shout out to Will Houston for being amazing answering all of my questions!

Have a really great day!

Play Forever

By Doc from Hollywood, FL on January 15, 2024 Music Background: Playing drums for over 40 years, bass for over 30.

Great bass. I know that no matter how old I get, I will be able to play this bass. I need a stand for full size basses because of my shoulder, but I can play the Kala with a strap. And the fretless option is amazing on a UBass.
