The UAD 2 Satellite Thunderbolt is the best gear purchase I've ever made. I added the pultec eq 'male vocal preset' and 2% Realverb Pro to a vocal track and it really sounds great. I'll be spending time learning the plugins that came with the satellite but I wanted to get the ssl channel strip and it did not disappoint.
I've seen UA promotional videos where they say that the presets will get you mixing effectively and it's true.
The best part is that I don't have to tax my older Mac Pro (trash can) processor with native effects and it's TB3 and will plug into my Mac Studio (already ordered but has not arrived yet) making it future proof.

I was initially disappointed in my new UA Apollo Solo - not enough DSP for what I wanted. Was thinking about ditching it and either getting an Apollo Twin or looking elsewhere. Called my awesome Sweetwater rep and he directed me to this Satellite....ah.....now we are talking! I connected the Apollo Solo to the Satellite and by and large my DSP issues are gone and I can now really enjoy the UA experience. If I could do it over I would get the twin and this Satellite! Highly recommend and in many ways essential!

I was using my twin duo and kept running out of DSP. This was just what I needed. Now I have tons of room and haven't come close to running out of DSP. If you're looking at this you're probably in the same boat I was in: do yourself a favor and get it. Thanks Drew and Sweetwater fam, y'all are the real ones.

This unit allows you to harness the power of Universal Audio plugins within your DAW. I only wish I would have purchased the 8-Core instead of the 4-Core. This is the industry standard for personal studio recording. It's well worth it! My music came alive with the integration of UA plugins...

I'm sure this works great for some users, but it didn't serve my purposes at all. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but even though UAD Console recognizes the additional SHARC processors from the Satellite DSP Accelerator, it can only take advantage of that DSP when loading plugins into a DAW. So if you—like me—bought this hoping to use more Unison Plugins/get a more powerful workflow within Console, look elsewhere, because Console can only access the DSP within your Apollo (i.e. I have an Apollo Twin MKii Solo, and Console can only use the 1 DSP chip housed in the Apollo itself, not the additional 4 from this Satellite Accelerator). Looks like I'll be returning this and upgrading my interface.
