Excellent little gadget
I wanted to be able to use my two blackstar debut 50r amps dirty and clean without having to switch cables. My sales rep, Tomir Denton recommended this pedal, so I went for it. While waiting for it to arrive I kept thinking that it was a bittoo much $$ for a aby pedal but boy was I in for a surprise. Its noisles it doesnt change your tones its JUST GREAT, WORTH EVERY PENNY. I am no where close to being a good guitarist and dont have much experiance all I know is that Im having a lot of fun using this little gadget to get all kinds of great sounds out of my amps. THANK YOU TOMIR.
Radial Twin City
Does exactly what it is designed to do. Switches quietly, doesn't raise the noise floor at all. Very satisfied.
Improved my tone!
Not only is this a high quality switcher, it's also an amazing buffer. I was shocked by how much clarity and punch it restored. I keep the drag control at maximum and it sounds so good.
the right ABY
I use two amps, clean and dirty. I use the A for rhythm and the Y mode for solos. There is no drop in signal to my main amp when I pile on the second and I have lots of tone to show for it. The phase switch is a lot more valuable than you think at first. I fixed an issue I had been dealing with where my full lead sound was not getting the right sustaining feedback. It was because my amps were out of phase; I flipped the switch and got full rich tone. At one rehearsal even the ground lift came in handy. You would think ABY is simple, but there is a lot going on and this pedal addresses those things. I am glad I decided to spend the little extra for a big satisfaction.
Fantastic tone used on a Tonemaster Twin Reverb
I use the A out to "normal 2' input and B out to the Vibrato 2 input. Select both. Switch the polarity switch to 180 degrees and be amazed. The drag control really works great on my Strat single coils as well.
The Holy Grail (or Rosetta Stone?) for Multi-Amp Setups
I'm a multi-instrumentalist with a solo project wherein I play synths, drum machines & guitar/bass with a mixture of live looping & sequencing. All of my MIDI instruments are sent to an 8-channel mixer & fed into FRFR powered speakers, while my guitar & bass goes through a more traditional mix of guitar/bass heads & passive speaker cabs. With bass/guitar, I'm currently using a wet/wet/dry rig - I use the FX Send/preamp out on my main amp through my noise gate, chorus/vibrato & reverb pedals, splitting it into a Micro POG (for upper octaves) & an OC-5 (for lower octaves) which then feed into separate power amps, while the dry signal (from the Micro POG's direct out) goes into a DI box.
This pedal has been indispensable for maintaining the clarity of my tone, as well as minimizing (unintentional) phasing & keeping the noise floor as low as possible, by making sure all output amps are on the same page. The placement of switches/buttons is exactly where I need them to troubleshoot on the fly regardless of environment (live, studio settings etc.) & the fact that it runs on 9V power in line with the rest of my pedal board means I have no excuse not to stick a strip of velcro on the back of it & take it with me wherever I go.
(Also, if you're unsure as to whether you need a Bigshot or a Twin City: Take it from me, & go with the latter, because even if you're not *planning* on running two amps at once, having the option to do so will likely help speed up soundchecks & simplify your rig's FOH/cab miking situation in live environments. Believe me, your sound tech will thank you.)
A Game Changer
I'll try to keep it brief, if you have more than one amplifier, buy a Twin City. If you only have one amplifier, buy another along with a Twin City. I should have got one of these years ago.
Great ABY Switcher!
Love this switcher! Works flawlessly and allows me to switch between my two amps. The best option, of course, is to play through them both simultaneously....a game changer for my rig!
Excellent!
It ROCKS! It's awesome, I have no issues with cabling an acustic guitar on the artists amp and the S16 Snake into our X32 mixer. No hum and excellent crystal clear superb quality sound. The musician, the sound man and Church are very happy. Thank You.
Superb
This magical little box allows me to play my silverface Bassman and my JCM900 together, correctly in phase, for a HUGE sound. Not all ABY boxes have the phase flip feature. Invaluable if you are running 2 amps at the same time. Just plug them in, flip the switch, and leave it on the setting that sounds bigger and fuller. Radial makes the best gear. Buy this NOW
Excellent Splitter
This pedal accomplished exactly what it says it does. Splits signal between 2 amps or combines them simultaneously for a signal that is just as strong in each amp as when they are running solo. The phase switcher is accessible and easy to toggle so you can test whether the amps are out of phase, and there is absolutely no buzz or hum while the pedal is engaged (at least not any buzz originating from this pedal).
Great Guitar Gear
Awesome pedal! Well made! Great 0% Finance Plan! I needed an ABY switch because I wanted to utilize both channels of my Vox AC 30. This way I can use either the regular channel or the Top Boost channel or combine both channels to get a different sound. To me it's all about having different options as far as my guitar tone and this gives me more flexibility. It is well made and easy to use and doesn't affect my tone or add any noise to my pedal chain and is easy to use and lights up to tell me which configuration I am utilizing. Thank You Sweetwater for offering flexible 0% payment options that allow me to go on and purchase musical products that I might not buy if I had to pay for it all at once. (Starving Musician) It also keeps my wife happy!
Great channel switcher and noise reducer!!!
Hooked up to my 68 DRRI for channel switching from custom to vintage and also for mixing both channels together as 1. The Twix City allows me to select Either single channel or run both together! So now I have a 3 channel Deluxe Reverb!!! It also calmed some of the inherent hiss and hum associated with the vibrato and reverb tank! (Although mine only had minimal) it virtually erased it all!
Extremely happy with the Twin City!
Must have pedal
This pedal is awesome! No noise no pop. Opens up all kinds of possibilities. Highly recommended!
Works great
Did exactly what I needed to do by sending my acoustic guitar to the pa's and my electric guitars to the amp. This allows me to have more control of the tone depending on my need at the time, especially with the baritone guitar which can overload the pa's.
Problem Solved!
Changing guitar cables around to play either one of the two amps I have took time. It really kept me from playing my Fender Blues Deluxe which I love, and I played the Marshall DSL 40 all the time. Now, with just one additional cable, Im able to play either one with the flip of a switch,(A-B). Better yet, I can play both at the same time,(Y)! I use the lush reverb of the Fender coupled with the pedals through the Marshall to give the tone just a wonderful balance. If you are chasing a unique sound, the combinations are endless.
Noise and annoying hum gone!
This pedal does exactly what it says it will do. I went through three different amp switch pedals to run dual amps and this was the solution to the noise That I was getting when running both. I started to wonder if it was because I was running two tube amps... The ground lift switch on the Twin City pedal was the answer! Once I flipped It, ALL of the noise went away and ALL My tone was preserved. I heard no tone loss as I tested between this and direct into amp. Big smile on my face.
Im running a Marshall origin 50 and a Fender Super Champ Head into a Marshall 4x12 cabinet. Option A is the Marshall with a Boss GT1000 and Option B is the Fender with a Tube Screamer and Afterneath pedal on the clean channel w/ Spring Reverb, Playing through a Fender HM Strat. I love the options of being able to Blend the two or separate if I want one specific tone. Wow, I can get some really amazing sounds with this setup. What's beautiful is being able to record a loop on the Boss GT1000 while sending to the Marshall Origin, theN flip over to lay some lead down through the Super Champ and both parts are separated between the two amps and They sound so clean and undisturbed by another Signal playing out of same speaker. Absolutely beautiful!
I would like to disclose that I tried to solve this with both amps playing out of my Boss GT-1000, using the left and right outputs. The GT1000 offers 6 different ground lift options within the hardware controls. I tried all of them and none of these options solved the annoying hum noise that I was getting. In fact, after the first 3 options they got terribly worse.
Long story short, if you are looking to solve your issue with the annoying noise due to grounding issues, while running dual amps, give them your money lol
Works perfectly!
Noiseless and effective switching between my EVH 50w stealth and my Blackstar amp. Great product at a fair price!
Love it!
Wanted to be able to switch the output of my pedal board between my Hotone "British Invasion" amp which I use for everyday practice and my 65 Princeton Reverb RI which I use less often as I don't like to leave the Princeton on all day if I'm taking long breaks to do whatever. Don't mind leaving the little solid state one on all day.
The Princeton which is perfectly quite when connected directly to the guitar had a hum when I tried doing this with a less expensive AB-Y switcher. With the Twin City there is a very slight bit of hiss from the Princeton but it is very low in volume and is completely acceptable.
With the 180 switch in the 180 position, both are in phase and it sounds great.
Fabulous
A perfect piece of gear. I'm using it to play through my Vox AC15 and my Fender Deluxe Reverb simultaneously. Amazing tones as I blend those two. This unit does not affect the sounds of my guitars at all. The unit has a switch to eliminate ground loop buzz, which is critical. It seems very well built and sturdy. If you've ever wanted to play through more than one amp at once, this is the perfect solution. Call my Sweetwater Engineer Anthony Longano - he'll get you all set up.
Unleash the power of options!!
Wow! I've got this hooked up to a Marshall Solid State AVT pushing 2 Celestion Greenbacks at 16 ohms and a 90's Red Bear Tube Amp pushing a Swamp Thang/Texas Heat Combo at 8 ohms. This has opened up a slew of options for me as I can now run certain pedals through my effects return on the marshall and a different chain straight into my Red Bear!! When the Marshall is on it's echo effect, and I switch the amp over to the Red Bear, the Echo carries over and fades away which I wasn't able to do live. I'm just really stoked to be able to play both a solid state AND tube amp without skipping a beat!!
Radial Twin City ABY Switcher
I’ve been wanting an ABY box for an amp switcher or a wet/dry mix, and chose the Radial Twin City ABY Switcher because of its features and robust quality. This is a professional grade amp switcher. Recommended.
Radial Bones Twin City A-B-Y amp switcher
No noise, clicks or pops.solid clean switching.first time utilizing two amps, blown away with stereo possibilities. Can create so many possibilities from gain grit layered with clean top.you choose
Excellent Amp Switcher - Pro Level
If you want an instant, seamless, quiet way to switch between two amps this is the pedal for you! Im amazed how quiet this pedal is and it even seems to act as a sort of "noise gate". Im running a Mesa 5/25 for grind and distortion and a Roland JC-40 for clean. The amps sound great when blended together with the Twin City and when going from amp A to B the non-active amp is completely silent in the mix. I haven't even messed with the drag, polarity, ground, etc. features - I just pulled the Twin City out of the box it was shipped in at my bands rehearsal, and within a minute or so of connecting to the amps I was good to go! Seems to be built solid and the switches are smooth, completely quiet, and confidence inspiring. This one cost a bit more than mechanical switching pedals but seems to be worth it - plug and play! On a related note, you haven't lived until you play with two amps in your live rig - the stereo sound crates a HUGE tone that really cuts through the mix and I received quite a few compliments from my band mates about how good my rig is sounding. Thanks to Mark Magdich at Sweetwater for the recommendation.
Does exactly what it promises
Product does exactly what it promises. With no noise when switching between amps. Very nice.
THE secret weapon for multi-amp setups
I"ve used the Radial Twin City for over five years now to do multi-amp set-ups. In that time I"ve played roughly 300 shows with it, as well as using it a lot in studio scenarios.
No buzzes, no hums, just flawlessly clean signal.
A lot of guitarists don"t realize that most of the pedals on the market that "split" your signal in two (whether an ABY switch, delay pedal, etc.) don"t isolate the signal correctly, and don"t correct for the change in impedance, which causes the guitar pickups to interact with the input of the amplifier in a very different, and often undesirable way. The Twin City does this very effectively, and more!
I looked into splitters from a couple other companies, and this is the only one I could find that has an adjustable buffer "drag control", as well as being a rock solid Radial product. I would, and do recommend this pedal to anyone I know who is using multiple amps.
Great tool
Had been doing a good amount of research until I came across this awesome tool. Excellent choice! Great sound, noise is minimal to none, and absolutely no popping during switches between amps!
Seamless
This works great. Does everything as advertised. So quiet that you'd never know it was being used. Love it and worth every penny.
Amazing Pedal
Amazing pedal. I bought this based on the reviews with scepticsm. No latency, no tone loss, no noise and built like a tank. I run this with original 1968 Fender Princeton Reverb and Orange Tiny Terror and 12" cab. Have combo of super clean chime and quack and crunchy gains. Knowing what I know now I wish I had bought this before dumping a grand into other pedals. Just two amps and this pedal will get you there. If you have a bunch of pedals put this in front of your chain with pedals dedicated to each amp. The two amps together are sick. Higher end brought out by Fender and lower end by Orange. The stereo sound will send send your head to another place. Get it, you won't regret it!
My pedal chain includes: Xotic RC>AC>Electro Harmonics OD Glove>TE Vicious Vibe>HOF>Delay>Xotic Wah>Twin City. Powered by Voodoo Lab....Dead Quiet
Switching without the Noise
Pros: No bleed through between the channels. The phase and lift switch take the Twin-City over the top. Silent switching. This pedal is built like a tank - road worthy for sure. I'm a believer.
Cons: It is pricey for an ABY pedal, but it is the last one you'll have to buy to switch between your amps.
Great
I have looked for an A/B box for several years. All were too noisy and seemed to load the other amp. With this piece this is no hum or any noise at all. It does not take away signal. Your instrument will sound like straight to an amp or console.
The best pro-rig ABY for the road and studio
I've had mine several years now and could not be happier with it. Very useful for my usual set-up. Does everything I need.
I use mine at the end of my pedal board to either ABY between two amps, or to ABY between two channels (like on a Vox AC30 normal and/or top boost, or Hiwatt, etc.) and the 180 Degrees polarity switch eliminates speaker phase issues when using a very old tweed with a newer amp, also, the Lift switch eliminates ground loop hum issues between amps. The load correction feature eliminates "dead-dynamics" issues encountered with most cheap ABY switchers.
It's heavy steel case and solid build is world tour ready. Radial does not make a bad anything. In fact, they are one of the best pro gear makers on the planet. They seem to specialize in building real-world solutions for real working musicians common gear issues. I would send them a Christmas card every year if I ever sent out cards.
Radial Bones Twin City Rocks!
I have bought several AB-Y amp switchers now, looking for one that would work well, with very little or no noise or hum and no signal reduction or degradation. I also wanted one that wouldn't pop when the switch was pushed. All of the other AB-Y switchers that I own have these problems. Some are worse than others but they all exhibit some or all of the issues listed above. When I received this one I was hoping it would be better than the others. I was completely amazed at how quiet this switch is. I first tried it with my acoustic guitar going to two of my acoustic guitar amps. It was dead quiet with no popping when I switched between amps. I also couldn't hear any signal reduction of degradation. This switch rocks! It is exactly what I have been looking for.
Highly Recommended
If you are looking for the ability to switch between two different amps, or play through two amps at the same time, this is the device you need. Works flawlessly. Awesome build quality, NO NOISE. Love this thing. Highly recommended.
Great pedal!
Works perfectly and functions exactly as I needed!
No bones with this switch
Solid, functional, and easy to use.
awesome stereo amps atlast
finally I have true stereo amps playing at the same time with out loss of signal , I get the true tone of my guitar from two different amps at the same time . the Twin city tone bone ABY switcher is awesome
Bones
Best AB switcher I've owned. The load corrections, polarity and ground lift switch are perfect and there's no click when switching. What else could you possibly want.
Radial Bones Twin City aby switch
This pedal works great. It does exactly what I bought it for. Having two amps working for you at the same time is awesome, (as long as both amps are great) lol. Radial is a great company with great products, Sweetwater is a great company for getting these products to the users. Also I enjoy working with the employees of Sweetwater. So far they are all smarter then me and have always helped me to find the right gear for what I'm needing. Thanks S/W
No tone loss!
This pedal is great. I run it through a Marshall JCM 800, and a Fender Blues Deluxe. I can run both amps at the same time with no loss of volume or tone. You don't hear any audible clicks or pops when changing amps either. The ground lift works great, haven't had any phase issues, so I haven’t had to use that switch yet. The Drag control is awesome, it allows you to boost the signal to the amps. I have mine turned all the way up.
Worth the money
A friend had recommended this when I decided that my bass needed more depth. Handles the effect channel to my Ampeg RB210 like a boss and keeps the clean channel to my Acoustic BC100c holding the bottom!! A good recommendation to me that I would recommend to you.
Does exactly what it says on the tin
Or cardboard box, rather. Its a well made pedal, does what its supposed to. There aren't any extra frills or anything. The housing is sturdy and so are the two main switches.
The only small gripe I have is that the two smaller switches for the B output feel a bit cheap and delicate. Be careful with those.
Radial Bones ABY Amp switcher
An excellent amp switcher !!! This switcher has
noiselessly operation plus has the capability of
Insuring the speakers of both amps are in phase
In addition, it even has a switch to lift the ground
if that is required to eliminate any unwanted
Ground noise. Lastly, this pedal is made with quality
Great switcher
As advertised. I see no difference in tone with the Radial or plugging straight in.
All the features you need to run a dual amp rig.
Nice quality and looks pretty cool too.
Excellent Product!
I really like this ABY! I have two of the Bigshots and I prefer this switcher to those.
What's Not To Like?
Does the job perfectly. Thanks Radial for a fine product!
great A/B/Y
During a recent guitar instensive session, we performed a shootout with this unit and the Lehle Little Dual. Both outshined transformerless A/B boxes, but the drag control on the Twin City put it over the top. Having one extra control stage really helped us match the sound of running straight into the amp. With the Lehle, we were left with a sound that was just slightly dull, compared to the original.
It was clear to us that the Twin City was what we wanted to use.
Great little switcher.
This thing just works. A. B. Y. Whatever you need, it works.
Twin City
Exactly what I was looking for, this thing brought a whole new level of convenience to my home studio. It allows me to switch between amps with a single tap, or go on a sonic adventure with two amps at once. Nice rig.
Maybe I just don’t get it
Everything said here is accurate. Pedal works exactly as it claims. It's not magic, it's a very simple and logical way to isolate noise issues.. my only complaint is that at nearly $ I am confused as to why it doesn't come ready to use out of the box. I suspect that I am just not in the "know ", cuz no one else has mentioned it. But why does it NOT come with a power supply? ( And yes it does say it in the ad. However, I figured it was only for the led lights as some others are, and not a necessary thing for it to work .) all that aside, it's great
Am I missing something?
Does an okay job, but exhibits tone loss.
There's really not a whole lot to cover here, so let's just get right into it --
This pedal does a decent job at splitting one's guitar signal, but it's by no means perfect.
I bought this pedal to split a guitar/bass signal between a mic preamplifier's instrument input and an amp.
The pedal does in fact split the signal relatively well, but it's not without a loss in signal quality.
The quality loss is not a huge one, but it is still noticeable nonetheless -- albeit subtle.
Namely, there is a loss of immediacy and articulation in the guitar signal - some of the note definition and pluckiness is lost. Along with this is a slight loss in the upper-highs. Additionally the lows seem to be slightly less tight and less defined. The also seems to be a very slight drop in volume.
Again, the difference is subtle, but for discerning studio applications, any loss in quality is generally considered unacceptable.
This pedal still does a pretty good job, but I ultimately decided to send it back.
I need something that does not degrade the signal quality to a noticeable degree.
However, if you're not as picky as I am, it might suit you just fine.
