Tiny pedal, HUGE sound
After much research to find the right "klone" of the famous (and unaffordable) Klon Centaur, I decided on this Wampler unit, which is among the top choices of pretty much every pro who's compared the many available alternatives. And I am delighted with this little critter! Setting the gain at about 1/3 renders a sweet lift to clean tones, just enough to add some crunch from your guitar's volume pot, if you set things right to start. What I like to do is leave it there, then when I want a strong OD tone, hit my Marshall's OD switch, letting the Tumnus push that amp to new heights, and a face-melting tone follows with endless sustain! The pedal's gain can also be cranked to about 2/3 on top of a clean amp tone for a very nice OD sound, as well. What I hear, in both cases, is something a Tube Screamer just can't do - pushing OD through the entire sound spectrum, and not heavily favoring the mids. That makes for a less harsh OD and more musical tone, IMO.
Solid pedal
Great tones and easy to dial in.
