3-loop Switcher/Mixer Pedal with Channel Volume, EQ, and Phase Controls and Global Wet/Dry and Volume Controls

If you've ever tried to run multiple fuzz pedals simultaneously, you know how hard it can be to get them to stack. Enter the EXH Tri Parallel Mixer. This double-wide stomp lets you blend or toggle any three sets of pedals, along with your dry instrument signal, to create the ultimate tonal concoction. Each channel has its own independent send and return volumes, EQ, and phase controls — the latter for making sure all your pedals play nice together — along with indicator LEDs so you can see, at a glance, which loops are active. In addition, you also get a global master volume control to hit your amp or interface at the appropriate level, along with a dry volume knob to blend in some of your untouched signal. Switcher ("XOR") and mixer ("AND") modes make the Tri Parallel Mixer a powerful addition to any advanced pedalboard.

Wildly useful pedal, very clean signal

By Nick

This pedal can be used in so many ways, yet it's very straight-forward. The blending of the signal paths is very clean and easy to shape. The addition of EQ and phase control is really wonderful.

Having your effects isolated into parallel groups allows for a lot of control over your tone. I like to put a compressor or preamp after this pedal to add even more "glue" to the mix.

This is also a really great pedal for blending multiple signals together. Using this with a Submarine pickup along side your guitar's main output is very fun. Also really practical if you have a multi-amp setup.

Construction seems very solid, no noise, switches and pots are very study and predictable. Essential pedal.

So Much Versatility

By Chris F. from APO, AE

When you don't want your effects to stack (series), this is your must have pedal. I initially bought one to separate my wet effects from each other. Then I tested it with my gain pedals. You can get the trademark tone out of each pedal and prevent any one from getting stepped on by a higher gain effect. You must methodically order your pedals and meticulously dial-in each knob. Also, this device serves effectively as an attenuator. With dual pots for each channel, plus a master and a dry knob, you have detailed control over most sound throughout the signal chain. Now I can crank up my amp's volume/gain to get to its best tone, without annoying everyone else in the neighborhood. Rock on!!

Great Pedal Board Addition

By Fred from STAFFORD, VA

I am using this Tri Parrallel Mixer to mix a Tube Screamer, a Mosaic 12 String Effect Pedal and a Sustain Pedal. In my opinion, the results are much better than I could have otherwise achieved. Downstream are a Beat Buddy and Loop Pedal. I truly enjoyed building this and the Electo-Harmonix helped complete it. It provides a lot of variation on how much each pedal contributes to the outputted results. So far I am very pleased with this purchase.

Pedal i didn't know i needed

By Sever

I absolutely love this thing, you can run multiple pedal chains for some very cool dimensions without the muddy mess of having multiple effects on at the same time.
Delay interfering with your reverb? Separate them.
Want to play overdriven with a cleaner sounding delay? Run clean into the delay and keep your od separate.
So many possibilities with this pedal!

Just what I needed

By Shakesbeere
Music Background: Punk/noise/electronic/experimental

I run some weird pedals. I've been told multiple times I play pedals, not guitar. Fair. However some of my pedals don't get along. 5 minutes into using this and it felt like having brand new pedals all over again. I'll be diving deeper into rerouting/multiple instruments/etc. definitely worth it.

Tremendous versatility

By Scott M. from DELAND, FL

Just plug it in, hook up 3 pedal loops and you've got wet/dry parallel mix to one output with independent volume, EQ, and phase settings per loop. Reverb, tremolo, and delay sound amazing in parallel. Even overdrives that sound good in series have new clear details when run in parallel. The parallel mixing alone is well worth the price, but there's more. Change from AND mode to XOR mode and it's a loop switch, so you can setup 3 independent effects loops and switch among them with one tap. With the advanced switching you can blend multiple instruments into one output, or split the signal from one instrument to drive two or three amps.

If, like me, you just want to try stuff out, this pedal gives you many new sounds from the effect pedals you already love. I bought two so I could experiment with parallel-mixed stereo-effects, and still a great value.

I Love the versatility

By Mike from Alabam
Music Background: Advance Intermediate

Right now I use it to go to multiple amps with a single guitar. Ive also used it to go multiple guitars into a single amp. All with a flick of a switch. Its like a Swiss Army knife of pedals.

MVP!

By B C. from San Diego, CA

EHX created a super creative tool with the Tri Parallel Mixer. I bought it to experiment with bass tones which is a blast, and have found it extremely useful with my stereo W/D rig, studio, and more. I've had mine for over a year without any issue and would like to see this idea expanded on for multi-channel mixing/summing purposes.

Just What I Needed

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: hobbyist

I like creating and recording with unusual effect box configurations. The Tri Parallel Mixer provides me with a much needed solution to fully realize some effect patches from a long gone digital processor with stomp-boxes. Before, I used combination of auxiliary send and returns on my mixer and often an Electro-Harmonix Switchblade+. The Tri Parallel Mixer shortcuts some of those configurations. The inclusion of a phase selector per channel helps with layering in consideration to the pedal's mono orientation.
EHX has done it again for me.

Ultimate Monkeywrench

By James

This is the ultimate monkeywrench for my bass pedalboard. Basically a mini 3-channel mixer. It gives you a very high degree of control to mix in distortion or other effects you might want to mix into your dry signal. It can be challenging to dial in, because it is not a simple "blend", so it takes a little dialing to get the right mix of effect and dry.

The only thing missing is a true bypass. The only thing that can be an issue is that if you slip and double-tap one of the switches, you can end up in the "bypass" mode, or some odd combination mode that you didn't want. But it is a very rare accident when it happens.

Took A Few Weeks...

By Mel

Like the other reviewer, Gary, I needed to have repair work done because the channels would freeze. If I disconnected power directly from the TPM or my power supply (Strymon Zuma), I was unable to turn on/off any of the channels. However, if I disconnected power by turning off my power strip (where the Zuma is connected) and powered back up it was somehow fixed.

I tracked down a post of EHX's message board about contacting them via email to send it out for repair. So I did on 10/7. They replied the next morning (though it went to spam so I didn't see right away). That's on me, not them. I gave my address and they sent me a prepaid UPS label. I sent it out 10/10 and they received it on 10/16.

I emailed them on 10/17 to see if I would be sent a return tracking number when it's heading back to me. On 10/21, they replied saying they don't do that but I would receive it within 10 days time. Well, it returned on 10/28 and it appears to be functioning as one would expect. I disconnected power like I mentioned earlier and it passed the test.

I wanted to share, because I've heard nothing but bad news about EHX's customer service and am grateful that my experience was a positive one. I hope others do as well. Side note: The pedal came back with no documentation about the repair at all. I mention this because I've sent a couple Keeley pedals in and they've come back with a note about the work done. Just an FYI.

Follow-up

By Gary C. from Dayton, OH

Felt it only fair to follow-up.

The pedal was in fact recalled. I sent my third replacement from Sweetwater to New York for the recall work. When I got it back, the power up "freeze in siren mode" was fixed. However, I tried to make this pedal work on my board in every conceivable way. I was rooting for this pedal. I tried it before my Two-Notes LeClean, in the affects loop....and all combinations within each. The issue Is with unity levels. If you attach your given pedals to the channels and set them the way you want them to sound, you'll find that from a unity level perspective, it's not useful. In reality, you have to have the Tri Parallel in sync with the levels on the rest of your board. By the time you tweak so that you actually have levels at usable levels for an actual live performance, the Tri-Parallel "strips" the character out of the pedals you wanted to run parallel. There may be a useful application of this pedal, but I can't imagine how this will be of lasting value on a pedal board for a gigging guitarist. I spent countless hours rooting for this pedal. Tore my pedal train down to a blank canvas MULTIPLE times, and never was able to find a way for this pedal to deliver. I returned it and put my refund toward something else. I forget what it was. I do a ton of business with Sweetwater & they are awesome. This product I find VERY unlikely to go down as a "Classic" for EHX. In fact, I predict they'll either ditch it, or completely redesign the pedal as a V2 something or other. The first gen is a loser in my opinion.

Simple effects switcher

By Brian R. from New York
Music Background: Bassist/Bass synthesis

I am using two synth pedals and effects so this was a great solution. Since the synth pedals rely on pitch detection, they both can get a direct signal and I still have a channel for other effects. Allows for some great layering without muddy signal paths. The first unit failed after a couple of months however. It needed factory reset at each power-up. There may have been a batch of bad chips.Sweetwater was quick to correct this and send me a new unit. Time will tell but the new unit is working great and seems to have a bit more output.

Fantastic Pedal

By jim from new york

I've never connected a fuzz or harmonizer in parallel and always wanted to find a way to do it right...this is an incredible way to shape tones! It totally works, and for a very reasonable price. With it I'm blending in my Digitech Whammy and a few fuzzes, and it's so great. Not sure why another reviewer questioned the build quality, as it's the most solid-feeling EHX pedal I've owned, and works without issue. Highly recommended.

3rd Replacement doing the same thing

By Gary from Dayton
Music Background: 30plus years

Third replacement from Sweetwater. They all do the same thing. They work for a few days. Then suddenly when turning your pedal board on, all 3 Channels of the Tri-parallel Mixer wake up on and stuck, but not transmitting anything from the pedals arranged in the 3 channels. I have to unplug the power to the pedal, hold down all 3 Channels, plug the power to the pedal back in & I'm back in business. I'm powering the pedal with the exact required power from a Strymon Zuma. All cables leading to and from are Mogami. It does the same thing using the provided power supply from EHX. Sweetwater can't replicate the issue, but I'm convinced their method isn't sound because first, they aren't testing with a ful pedal board & second, they are playing with it for 3 days until the issue starts to happen.

Get the most out of your gear

By Sweetwater Customer

Got one to just organize my pedals but was wowed by the blending of tones this unit is capable of , the eq knob is very effective and powerful in shaping a chain of pedals tone to mix with other loops in use..one of those where have you been all my life units ,if you love pedals it is essential

Piece of Junk - DON'T BUT THIS PEDAL!!!!!

By Gary C. from Dayton

This thing is junk. I have had it replaced & the replacement from Sweetwater was fine for 3 days. Just booted up my Pedal Board & it sounded like a siren went off. Had to unplug the tri-level - hold down all three channels - then re-plug in the power - then it works. These things were not thought out well AT ALL. The testing had to be subpar. Great idea. POOR EXECUTION. THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED!!!!!

Left 2 messages with EHX and neither was ever returned.

DON'T BUY THIS PEDAL!!!!!!
