Orange Tour Baby 100-watt Amplifier Head Reviews

100W, 2-channel Solid-state Guitar Amp Head with 3-band EQ, Balanced Out, and FX Loop - White

Tap into 100 watts of pure British tone with the Orange Tour Baby. Compact and ultra-portable, this powerful 2-channel amp head is the first choice for many Sweetwater guitarists, providing sparkling cleans on one side and classic valve-like Orange gain on the other. Powerful tone-shaping tools like a buffered FX loop, the clean channel’s VCA compressor, and the gain channel’s footswitchable volume boost remove the need for added stomp boxes without sacrificing tonal control. At the same time, dual speaker outs allow it to sit atop just about any speaker cab, while a balanced output with no cab sim offers a clean signal for external IRs or outboard cab sims. Toss the unit into your backpack and head to rehearsal; or, with an optional rack mount kit, mount it alongside your other stage or studio tools. Armed with the Tour Baby’s vintage tonal range and shaping ability, you’ll always have your sought-after sound in tow.

Glad I bought this amp.

By Jason

I've been mainly using the Tour Baby for my Cover band. I usually would use a Fender Deluxe reverb or a Fender Blues Junior live. Now I use the Tour Baby through a Mesa 1x12 EV12l Thiele cab. We play everything from Michael Jackson to Waylon Jennings and everything in between and this amp is incredibly good for all styles of music. Live, I've been using the clean channel with a modest pedal board for effects. This amp simplifies things for me. I've used it through a Marshall 4x12, a Fender Bassman 2x12 and my mesa 1x12 ev12l Thiele cab and it sounds great through all of them. This is truly a great sounding amp. Buy it. Orange nailed it on this one.

Awesome Value!

By S L. from Kentucky
Music Background: Retired guy, still rockin’

I've had quite a bit of experience with Orange amps as they are my preferred amp brand. What sets the Tour Baby apart from a lot of the offerings by Orange is it has 3 stages of gain instead of 4. Modern metal players like the 4 stage models for their extra gain, which can get a little fizzy with the gain turned up. The Tour Baby has more than enough gain to get you to early metal but offers better note to note definition and clarity. Also, the VCA compressor on the clean channel is marvelous. The presence knob is also a game changer on the dirty channel. It does have a tiny bit of white noise which is common among analog solid state amps, but it's barely noticeable and only when on but not being played. When considering its cost, size, features, clarity, and outrageous output, I think it's an awesome value. I would say this compares nicely with Orange's Rocker series, Dual Terror, and AD30 tube amps, but is a much more affordable option. I mostly play cleans and surf up through hard rock and early metal and it does the job, and then some. I highly recommend it! Many thanks to my sales engineer, Jim Ridings, and the rest of the Sweetwater team for another exemplary buying experience.

Great tones, great feel

By Landon C. from Smyrna, TN

I tried out the Tour Baby and the Dual Baby - and the Tour Baby was my favorite. The clean channel sounds and feels great - and the dirt gives you the best of everything you need for a player that's rooted in Blues, Rock, etc.

Comparatively - the Dual Baby gives you a gain channel and then another higher gain channel - so you lose the clean. I preferred the lower of the two gain channels so - not much use for me on that one.

The Gain Baby would give you back the clean channel - but then give you the highest gain channel only.

The feel of the class A power amp is where it's at I think - I prefer the feel to class D.

Plenty of volume - I only had it turned about half way up most of the time and it was screaming loud. So, plenty of reach from there.
