If you are going small and light, this amp fits the bill. It also has plenty of power!!

Better than expected

By Joseph Belton II from TALLAHASSEE, FL on June 22, 2023 Music Background: 20+ years on bass. Bassist for CrossWay Church and The Forge Brothers in Tallahassee, FL.

I did a lot of research before committing to this amp. There are many great video demonstrations and product features that showcase the sound and versatility, but it's even better in person. I originally had my sights set on a GK head. I've always loved their sound and still do, but the reviews, reliability, and versatility this amp provides was too much to ignore. Once I settled on Aguilar for their reliability, it was between this and the AG700. There are some great video comparisons available for those as well. I went with the Tone Hammer because it provided the same clean sound as the AG700 with the ability to add drive through the AGS feature for a warmer, more rounded sound. Honestly the tonal options are limitless. I like also that you can make the amp as colorful or transparent as you wish. If you love the sound of your bass, and just need an amplified signal, this is the amp for you. If you want to dial in a certain tone, you can do that too.

I am currently pairing it with a GK 410 400 watt 8ohm cabinet with tweeter. There is absolutely no high frequency hiss or buzz. The amp is extremely quiet in standby. You can hear the fan, but no interference comes through the signal path at all.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking.

Great upgrade from the Tone Hammer 500

By Charles Baldwin from Philadelphia, PA on February 16, 2023 Music Background: Professional Bassist

Just had this delivered today in time for one of my local weekly gigs.
I have a TH 500 that's about 9 years old that I gigged very hard and served me well. It had been dropped a few times over the years just the riggers of hard gigging and transporting.

I went with a TH 700 for the increased power and flexibility of going to 2ohms.

I ran it through one of my Aguilar SL 112's. I know the SL 112's are rated at 250W and the TH 700 is 350 into 8ohms. The SL was fine from a night of funk some rock vibes and old school R&B.

The 700 was very solid punchy and clean with plenty of headroom. The SL 112 was tighter with the 700 than the 500. My SL 112's are as old as my old TH 500 so the SL 112 has a crazy amount hours on it.

I think the TH 700 is the way to go for small gigs to med to larger clubs running a 4X10 or 2.

The flexibility of running a 8 ohm and a 4 ohms together is great. With the TH 500 it's either 1 or 2 8ohm cabs or 1 4 ohm cab. Highly recommended the TH 700.

Lives Up To The Hype

By Josh from Massachusetts on December 13, 2022

The TH700 has met and exceeded my expectations. Downsizing from an SVT (which I love) to something a bit lighter.

This head is perfect for my use case: provide a clean, warm tone with headroom for days. I play half the time at outdoor gigs, but if you are not playing outside then the TH500 will suit you well.

Sounds great, weighs 5lbs, and fits in my pedalboard bag. What more could I ask for?

11/10 would buy again.

Best Bass Head

Power and beautiful warm tone. Super lightweight. I take this on every gig. Big or small.

700 watts of pure bliss

By Sweetwater Customer from Craig Mack 1979 on March 15, 2022 Music Background: Semi professional been playing bass 40 years

I Back ordered mine last year and just received my TH700 three weeks ago . It's was packaged superbly with extra think cardboard . I used Hartke HL410 to test my TH700 . Soon as I plugged in and started playing and tweaking I instantaneously knew this amp was different animal . The tone … responsiveness…. Power …. Mojo was pure Nirvana . For anyone wanting to go light weight without sounding light weight this is head for you . If I had any critique it would be lack of headphone Jack which is offset by ability to drive 2.67ohms . This amp is 100% beast sounds like tube Amp with its warmth

Aguilar Tone Hammer 700

This head is the most versatile head I have ever owned. Full range of control ! From crystal clean to Lemmy! I have full control over my sound with no pedals ! The power safely drives my two cabinets.

TH700

By Jonny from Richmond VA on November 23, 2018

First things first, I love Aguilar gear. I've been gigging the TH500 for the past few years with great success and no issues. I was always able to dial in my tone and thump away. I told myself that if a higher wattage Tone Hammer ever came out I'd grab it so I ordered this baby the first day it was released and have zero regrets. Its not a ton louder than the TH500 but it does have that extra head room that I sometimes needed for bigger shows.

Great amp from a great company. If you're thinking about it just do it!!

The tone I wanted, but WOW the fan is loud

By Carl on September 17, 2022

I love the amp. I love the sound. It does the thing I like.

Fantastic DI. Flexible sonic profiles. Handles short scale flat wounds, active electronics with round wound, upright bass... And it is so beautiful how the instruments come alive as themselves.

The TH series is getting a little long in the tooth. I really wanted to like the Darkglass Alpha-Omega 900 head more than this one. It's a good piece of kit. Sadly, I prefer the sounds from the TH.

The fan is loud though. I was surprised. I fell in love with the TH series from playing the house head at a local venue. I never noticed the fan noise in that environment. But in the quiet of my home, it's loud. I had to research it. I thought I got a defective unit. Nope. Guess it's just the way it is.
