Hohner Marine Band Thunderbird Harmonica - Key of Low G Reviews

Low-tuned Diatonic Harmonica with Layered, Triple-laminated Bamboo Comb Construction and Conical Lower Cover Design - Key of Low G

Are you a harmonicist? If you want to get in on the low-tuned trend, Sweetwater has your axe. The Hohner Marine Band Thunderbird is a ground-breaking instrument that takes the diatonic harmonica into the low and super-low registers, for a sound that's satisfyingly deep, resonant, and rich with overtones. Hohner packed the Thunderbird with innovations such as layered, triple-laminated bamboo comb construction, new reed profiles for quick response and robust volume - even at really low pitches, and a conical lower cover design that eliminates reed rattle by noted harmonica guru Joe Filisco. How low can you go? Find out, with the Hohner Thunderbird.

Use it in the Studio but not in Rehearsal

By Russell N. from TEXAS

This harmonica is what you should expect from Hohner, but one octave down. There are some good things to say and some bad things to say...

Let's start with the good!

* It is a quality musical instrument by Hohner. Matching their reputation for quality.
* It is an octave down. This gives the harp a very soulful sound.

And now for the bad!

* It is more difficult to perform with. Because it is an octave down, the reeds are longer thus requiring more force.
* Mine went out of tune. Most harmonicas go out of tune, some more pleasing than others. This one was not so pleasing.

Overall I would recommend this instrument for studio recording or important live gigs, but not for rehearsal or practice.
