Fender Vintera II '60s Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar - 3-color Sunburst Reviews

Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Ash Body, Maple Neck and Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - 3-Color Sunburst

The Telecaster Thinline burst onto the scene in 1969 with an all-new, semi-hollowbody take on the original trailblazing Tele design, which was approaching 20 years in age at the time. Today, Fender’s Vintera II ’60s Telecaster Thinline brings the tone and aesthetic of that same guitar back to life! With a resonant semi-hollow ash body and a maple neck/fingerboard combo, this beauty is quite faithful to the Fender formula. Sweetwater guitarists love this Thinline’s duet of vintage-style ’60s single-coil Tele pickups, designed to translate all that coveted ’60s Telecaster twang with an authoritative clarity and real open-body sound. Fender totally nailed the vintage vibes throughout, as this axe features a proper late ’60s “C” neck profile, vintage-style 3-saddle Tele bridge and tuners, and the classic extended pickguard shape. The best part? The Vintera II ’60s Telecaster Thinline grants you full access to tried-and-true Thinline sights, sounds, and feels for a fraction of the cost!

Killer single coil thinline!

By Alex from USA on October 10, 2023 Music Background: Bedroom player

I purchased this guitar on a whim. It was recently released and I was dead set on wanting a thinline with vintage specs while retaining single coils. I have much respect for WRHBs, but a tele twang is unlike anything else, even if I favor more rock/alternative.
I did purchase this with the plek and bone nut installed. My experience with fenders says all brand new guitars need to be finished setting up on a luthier bench.
But boy am I glad I did this. The guitar plays killer. It's everything I wanted. The 7.25" plays better than my PRS silver sky or any of my previous vintage style fenders; and all of them cost double this guitar. It it very true to form, down to the windings of the pickups (higher ohms on the neck than the bridge which occurred in mid 60s). Despite the readouts I cannot complain about the output. I'm pleased, although I do admit I'm more of a humbucker guy. But this fills the single coil spot for me. I had to raise the neck pickup more than usual than on my previous teles to get an even balance volume wise but it never sounds too dark. I am thrilled fender went back to swamp ash. It looks great and I enjoyed going thru the galleries and deciding which figuring I wanted. For the money this guitar is great. Ignore the made in Mexico part: when properly set up this a great guitar and now my keeper for a tele. The tuners seem very stable to me. The bone nut was cut perfectly. The frets were treated correctly by the plek machine. I can find no high frets or sprouting now. Do yourself a favor and call your rep. Get in on this with a plek job. You'll thank me later.
