Fender Player Plus Telecaster - 3-tone Sunburst with Maple Fingerboard Reviews
Contrary to popular opinion, Telecasters aren't limited to twang-inflected chicken pickin'. Case in point: The Fender Player Plus Tele. This solidbody electric guitar's Player Plus Noiseless pickups are equally at home with jazz, blues, and rock as they are with country, plus they don't produce 60-cycle hum — even if you plug into a saturated amp or a fuzz pedal. On top of that, the Player Plus Tele includes a series mode for expanded sonic textures. A modern "C"-shaped neck and 22-fret, 12-inch-radius fingerboard give you a decidedly contemporary feel with fast action and comfortable playability. You also get a synthetic bone nut, modern 6-saddle string-through bridge, and Fender deluxe cast/sealed locking tuners. If you appreciate classic Teles but crave modern playability and a broader tonal palette, pick up the Player Plus Telecaster. But be forewarned — you won't want to put it down.

Great Tele! Very happy with it!
Every bit as nice as the Ultra Tele that I owned. Very happy with it! I don't think that I'd change a thing about it.
Better Than My American Standard
It immediately revealed itself to be my favorite Telecaster. Looks even better in person, the neck feels great, every position feels inspiring with good play all the way to the last fret. Every pick up selection is useful. I like the humbuckerish series setting. I might be able to leave my Les Paul at home. Very impressed with the player plus series. A few more gigs with this one and I'll be back for the Nashville version.
I had the Sweetwater shop install a bone nut and set this up with 9.5-44 gauge. So perhaps it has a better set up than would normally ship stock.
Great guitar here
This Fender plays and looks as good as the American made and half the price. This guitar cords very nice and easy on the fingers. You won't go wrong with this guitar. The color and finish look great just like the highest end Fender.
Amazing Value!!
This is a fine guitar. I almost bought the Fender Performer but decided to save some money and bought the player plus instead. I'm glad I did. Fit and finish is fantastic. The neck on this guitar plays like butter and the noiseless pups sound great. I can't say enough good about this guitar. It's truly a remarkable value. You get a lot of guitar for the money. If you want a fantastic guitar but don't want to empty your bank account this is the one for you.
Fantastic guitar
This is a fantastic guitar. Fit and finish is nop notch. The locking tuners are nice to use and the guitar holds a tune exceptionally well. All maple neck teles have the neck finish on the frets, that's the way it's been for a long time. I took some tape, 0000 steel wool and cleaned them up and followed with music nomad frine polish and now they are smooth and shiny. The pull out tone pot adds a bold, almost humbucker tone to the guitar and the noiseless pickups are a nice feature. The flat radius of the fretboard is really nice to play but changed my hold for barre chords. Wonderful guitar
Fantastic Guitar!
I've had this Tele for over a month now and have spent a lot of time with it. I love everything about it. The burst finish and maple neck is gorgeous. The frets are great and I had no trouble with intonation. Notes ring true all over. The locking tuners are great. The pickups and wiring are so versatile. These noiseless pups, in this guitar, sound like a Telecaster. It's all there. The series/parallel switch is my favorite mod and it's already built in! This axe is worth the money, easy. Would buy again in a heartbeat if something happened to mine (God forbid).
Pretty good
Good neck and tone
The right specs
Take price and country of origin out of the occasion, and just consider the specs.
This is the only telecaster in the Fender line that currently offers a combination of these specs:
-12" radius on a medium C neck, with rolled fretboard edges, 1.685 nut width and medium jumbo frets. And, the finish on the neck is very similar in both feel and tint to the "super natural satin" finish on their American models.
-For hardware you get locking tuners and and stainless steel bridge saddles.
-The belly carve and 4 way wiring are also a nice bonus for me.
This spec sheet happens to check a lot of boxes for me. If you are like me and grew up with American and Mexican Standards, this will feel familiar to you. I went through 3 different made in USA T Style guitars before ending up on this. That's not to say this is higher or lower quality than those American made guitars, but my hands get along with this the best for my preferences.
This gets 4 stars because an $ guitar should come with a hard case, and also the nut was cut poorly.
Sorry but this one fell short.
Within the first minute of playing I noticed amber flakes all over my leg. What? My bends and vibrato seemed very draggy. Oh well, Cheep frets. Then I felt on the back of the neck and small sanding dent imperfection that my thumb feels when going down the neck. Not the end of the world. After a few hours of playing I changed the strings. Thats when I noticed the horrible Frets. Coated in some kind of varnish that is flaking off. And the frets have a few dings and flat spots like the guitar is 10 years old. Not happy. The guitar body and pickups are great. I know that this is not Sweetwaters fault Because the guitar looks Great to the eye. I should have returned it but I had already started to modify it. Maybe some I will pony up for a good neck.
