Fender Player Plus Telecaster Solidbody Electric Guitar - Fiesta Red with Pau Ferro Fingerboard Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Pau Ferro Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Fiesta Red

Contrary to popular opinion, Telecasters aren't limited to twang-inflected chicken pickin'. Case in point: The Fender Player Plus Tele. This solidbody electric guitar's Player Plus Noiseless pickups are equally at home with jazz, blues, and rock as they are with country, plus they don't produce 60-cycle hum — even if you plug into a saturated amp or a fuzz pedal. On top of that, the Player Plus Tele includes a series mode for expanded sonic textures. A modern "C"-shaped neck and 22-fret, 12-inch-radius fingerboard give you a decidedly contemporary feel with fast action and comfortable playability. You also get a synthetic bone nut, modern 6-saddle string-through bridge, and Fender deluxe cast/sealed locking tuners. If you appreciate classic Teles but crave modern playability and a broader tonal palette, pick up the Player Plus Telecaster. But be forewarned — you won't want to put it down.

Exceeded my expectations

By Jerry K from Mishawaka on March 22, 2024 Music Background: Music hobbyist

I was hesitant to buy a MIM Tele. I'm not knocking their quality of materials or construction. (My oldest guitar is a MIM Strat I bought in 2000). I just wanted an American made one.

Boy let me tell you something… this Tele holds up just as good (if not better) than any American made model I own! This is my first Tele and I finally understand the hype. It's definitely a "twinkly, jangly making chord" instrument.

Like my MIM Strat, I would've upgraded this Tele eventually with locking tuners. But, no need as it comes with them already stocked!

This is the first Fender I've owned with " Noisless" pickups. I had thought that they would negatively affect the tone, but they sound phenomenal!

The whole guitar is of sturdy construction and feels like a guitar worth more than the $ price tag. The neck feels so smooth too and is absolutely ideal for my hands. To quote BTS, "It's smooth like butter"!

I believe both the description and some reviews claim, "You won't want to put it down". Yowza! They weren't lying!

Special thanks go out to Michael Delzoppo for having the two models I wanted to demo ready by the time I arrived in Fort Wayne! Michael always has my wants and needs in mind.

In short; I love not only the Tele itself, but with the pleasant buying experience I had with Sweetwater!

Amazing versatility, sound and feel!

By Jason Humphrey from Louisville, TN on March 7, 2024

Let me start by saying that this will be one of those guitars where it doesn't matter whether it is American or Mexican-made; it's simply mint! Here's why: It's gorgeous, the neck is incredibly fast and comfortable, the pickups sound amazing, the body is intelligently contoured, the hardware is impressive for the price range, the color is beautiful and more! I was slightly hesitant to buy at first because I have never owned a guitar with a pau ferro fingerboard material, but within just a few minutes of playing this I didn't regret my decision at all. It feels slightly softer than the standard maple one and seems quite similar to rosewood. The neck and playability along with the tone is what really makes this guitar great though. Effortless fretting, strumming and picking makes it hard to put down. You can easily play on this one for hours! The noiseless pickups and the push/pull tone knob for an even broader range of sounds are an incredible addition for such a nice Tele in this price range! The only cons I have for this really aren't even related to the guitar itself necessarily, but I did change the strings out from the .009s that it came with to .010s and I feel that Fender could've done a little better with the gig bag that it comes with. I've always wanted a Fender in fiesta red and this one definitely did not disappoint! Very impressed and pleased with this guitar overall!

My favorite guitar in my collection

By Michael Otto from Macungie, PA on March 7, 2024

I bought this guitar in early 2024. It has been one that I pick up and fall in love all over again when I play it. It was perfectly playable out of the box. I really enjoy the fiesta red. However, I changed the pick guard out from the mint green to a brighter pearl one. I think it makes everything pop. The noiseless pickups are as advertised. The sound of the pickups is every bit as good as expected and I really like the push pull button that puts the pickups in series. It makes for a nice warm sound. I chose this player plus over the player series because of the upgrades that would cost a fortune to do myself (or pay someone else to do). The rounded fretboard edges make for a very comfortable playing experience. The fret ends were smooth. I am totally team locking tuning machines and this has those as well. I also like the comfort that comes with the belly cut on the back of the guitar. The neck profile is very comfortable. I keep coming back to this guitar again and again and imagine I'll be playing it for the rest of my life. Highly recommend this player plus telecaster
