Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster - Butterscotch Blonde with Maple Fingerboard Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, and 3 Single-coil Pickups - Butterscotch Blonde

If you think Teles are twanging one-trick ponies, you've got another thing coming. The Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster not only delivers classic Tele tones, its 3-pickup configuration and 5-way switching give you expanded sonic options that are unobtainable with a typical 2-pup model, including an array of Strat-style textures. On top of that, the Player Plus Nashville Tele includes state-of-the-art Player Plus Noiseless pickups for hum-free performance. A modern "C"-shaped neck and 22-fret, 12-inch-radius fingerboard give you a decidedly contemporary feel with fast action and comfortable playability. You also get a synthetic bone nut, modern 6-saddle string-through bridge, and Fender deluxe cast/sealed locking tuners. If you appreciate classic Teles but crave modern playability and a broader tonal palette, pick up the Player Plus Nashville Telecaster. But be forewarned — you won't want to put it down.

Thank you Jeff Barnett of Sweetwater for your help and integrity. The Tele arrived in mint condition and I'm very satisfied with my decision to choose Sweetwater.

I purchased mine, had never laid hands on it, got it from Sweetwater I think. Regardless nothing needed changed, the action is.....almost "Too good!" what I mean, as a Strat player, I like a guitar that will fight me back just a touch, but this neck and the action is very very smooth. So smooth I have a tendency to overplay a solo. I was in the studio with it and was laying solo tracks down for an artist, and man I was flying on the solos (Red dirt, southern rock) and the engineer said something so profound to me...."Think Clapton" on this song. So long/short, I had to gear back just a bit. Super easy to play, and looks great. If you are on the fence, I would buy! The versatility on these is amazing as well. Push pull is great!! Great Job MIM Fender!!

Buy it!

Wow! Just wow! Fender hit a home run with this one. If you're looking at it, just buy it! You won't regret it.

This guitar is Amazing

I have been trying to decide on which Telecaster to buy for several months. I saw the Player Plus Nashville Telecaster and decided it was for me. As usual, I had Sweetwater do the setup before shipping it out. As usual, they nailed it! This is my 8th guitar from Sweetwater and they have nailed the setup every time Fender has knocked it out of the park with this model Telecaster. The way they roll the fingerboard edges gives it the feel of a vintage guitar that's been well played in for years. The noiseless pickups sound great. I love this guitar!!

I am very pleased with this Tele.
I have owned three.
This one is the best.
It came set up very well.
The follow up call from Cory was an unexpected pleasure.

Love it!!!

First it looks great, that classic butterscotch blonde is hard to beat.

Second it has everything you want a Tele to have and more. It's all Telecaster but with the additional Strat middle pickup you get all three Tele tones, as well three additional Strat tones, and you can even engage all three pickups at once. That's an amazing seven tones. The noiseless pickups sound authentic but without all the 60 cycle hum of regular single coils. All the knobs and switches feel sturdy and Sweetwater's 55 point inspection was spot on. The locking tuners are great and the setup was perfect out of the box. The neck feels fantastic and is easy to play.

I have the Texas Tea American Ultra Telecaster which is a fantastic guitar. This has most of the features of the Ultra, but adds features the Ultra doesn't have, all that at half the price. I wouldn't trade my Ultra, but if I could only have one I'd keep this one.

Never been a Tele guy until 09/23/21

I have had my beautiful butterscotch blonde Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster for a good week now. All I can say is WOW what a guitar, man!
It is hard to put it down. The first night I picked it up and lost track of the time. An hour and a half went by. Poof, gone. It is for sure in my top five "go to" guitars, pushing the top three! Very versatile with a Strat pickup in the center. The push/pull knob which activates the bridge and neck pickups is killer too!
The set up from the factory and the once over from Sweetwater techs was close to spot on for my needs. Dialed in a couple strings and perfection. You know it has locking tuners right? So if you've been on the fence about this guitar, jump it. Call my sales engineer, Mark Johnson and let him help you pick one out! Thanks again to Mark and the rest of the staff at Sweetwater. Why go anywhere else?

Almost great

By Sweetwater Customer on February 11, 2022

Nut buzz on D string, just wasn't cut right; tiny paper shim fixed it for now. Might put a black pickup cover on the middle p/u. Everything else is good and the rolled fretboard is nice. Packing and delivery were exemplary.

Great guitar for the price, can't go wrong.

Had reservations about buying a Mexican made Fender, but pleasantly surprised with this one. Easy to play, sounds great. Love that Stat pickup in the middle. They should call it a Stelecaster, LOL !! Nice range of tones too !

Sounds great, QA issues

By Matt from Kentucky on November 16, 2021

Got the Nashville tele from Sweetwater, amazing customer service as always. This thing sounds AMAZING. The Strat pickup is the perfect addition to the tele pickups. Few issues, mine came with a neck pickup that didn't work. It worked for one day and then went out. Also, the nut on mine wasn't cut correctly and the high e string was almost off the fretboard on the higher registers. Quite the disappointment when you pay 1000 dollars for a guitar and it comes from the factory that way. Sweetwater offered to fix the pickup for free, but I elected to take it to a local shop to have the nut replaced as well as the pickup fixed. After getting the repairs done I love this guitar

Great design concept, poorly executed. Low quality from Fender, even for a MIM

By K from CA on September 29, 2022 Music Background: semi-pro

I bought one of these from Sweetwater after trying 5 units at two local stores. I will say I got the best of the 6 I ultimately laid hands on. But the quality wasn't great on any of them and at the price point, it should be a lot better.

Pros:
- love the butterscotch finish.
- love the tinted maple neck, althouh I'd even prefer the darker tint you sometimes see on surf green models
- love the 7-way switching
- love the 12" neck radius
- love that they included locking tuners

Cons
- Terrible fret work - required a full fret level
- frets were covered in lacquer and also were just not properly levelled in production. This is not a "setup" issue, this is a build issue. I'm not talking about the minor fret dressing you should reasonably expect with a setup, and I'm not complaining that setup adjustments were required. Additionally, the edge rolling wasn't done well, and results in strings that want to fall of the edge if you don't hit dead straight. After a fret level lowered them a little, that's improved as I was able to put the flat crown back on that had been rounded off too much going all the way to the string. Rolled edges should be at the edge, not going way into the string area.
- Pickups are SUPER bright compared to my American Nashville B-Bender (same guitar design, but american built and with a b-bender)
- knobs feel cheap compared to those on the American version. The knurl is much finer, the weight is about half as much. I think they went with aluminum knobs and I think the american model has chromed brass knobs.
- comes with the world's cheapest gig bag
- lack of straplocks, althouh that isn't a big deal. You can buy the fender/schaller straplock buttons for about $5 on amazon if you already have the straplock tops.

Man I wanted to LOVE this guitar because both cosmetically and in terms of the SPECS, it's my idea of a perfect telecaster. But the build quality was just not good and given I tried 6 of them from 3 different stores and one in a different part of the nation, I feel like I had a representative sample of what you should expect.

Issues I saw on the ones I didn't buy included a twisted neck, 2 nuts that were improperly slotted with the slots visibly off center resulting in strings basically falling off the edge of the guitar, and 2 where the bridge appeared to be installed off center while the nuts appeared to be properly centered. Like I said, I got the best of the 6...on mine the strings were properly centered. They all had high action although I did not measure the frets or check them with a fret rocker on the 5 I tried in the store. I just know the action was quite high on all of them, probably due to the same bad fretwork that was on mine.

What I love about this guitar I still love. The look and the design features. The two low points are the neck build quality and the pickups. And that is dissappointing because the #1 reason I bought this was the neck.

HEY FENDER - MAKE THIS EXACT GUITAR DESIGN IN THE USA and with upgraded components like you had on the B-Bender version a few years ago. Love the butterscotch blonde.

Fender warranty fail

By Sweetwater Customer on May 12, 2023

Bought the guitar and it plays nice however the nut basically crumbled and chipped off near the D string. I own many maple neck American Deluxe Fenders. It's not my first rodeo. Been changing strings on electric guitars for more than 50 years. This was my first players series. In other words I have spent a great deal of money on their products. The technician said it was cosmetic because the string was still tracking. ... OMG ... It is a defect. My warranty should repair the nut BEFORE it can't track the string anymore. Sweetwater has stepped in and offered $ toward the nut replacement. Sweetwater rocks! Fender, not so much.
