Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '61 Telecaster Relic - Aged Sherwood Green Metallic Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, Relic Finish, Greasebucket Tone Circuit, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - Aged Sherwood Green Metallic

The Fender Custom Shop Limited-edition ’61 Telecaster Relic is a beautiful re-creation of a well-played classic that puts the sound, feel, and looks of the '60s at your fingertips. This guitar sports the standard Tele tonewood combo of a resonant 2-piece alder body and a quarter-sawn maple/rosewood neck, outfitted with a beautiful Relic finish for a worn-in feel from day one. A Blackguard pickup in the bridge produces an authentic Tele twang that's modeled after the earliest Telecasters. Meanwhile, a Twisted Tele neck pickup delivers a Stratocaster-style smoothed out, mellow tone — it's all tied together with a Greasebucket circuit for serious tone sculpting. Plus, the modernized narrow-tall frets in a 9.5-inch radius offer a serious playability upgrade, making this Custom Shop Tele the best of both the vintage and modern worlds.

Just what you'd expect from Fender

By John Whiteman from Pennsylvania on July 14, 2022 Music Background: Very long time playing not professional

I've always thought the Tele was a different sounding guitar. Sometimes a little too shrill on the bridge. I had the opportunity to visit Sweetwater from Pennsylvania and was hoping to get a piano, as I already have a few guitars, my daily is a G&L s500, USA made Strat style, a very good guitar.
I got to nosing around and asked to see something from the custom shop. There were only four available at the store to see, and three were out of my price range, very very nice. They went to the warehouse and brought over this Tele. It is very light compared to my G&L. It played very nice , but I was not serious about buying, just curious. Since we were there for a couple of days to get the tour(which I recommend if you are there)I decided to take a look at it again the second day. They went back to the warehouse and got it for me again. Since I play through a 57 Champ Reissue at home, they hooked one up for me and found all my main pedals to get the same sound I would have at home. They definitely went out of their way to accommodate. They left me alone to play for about an hour. Needless to say, there are many sounds you can get out of this guitar through that little amp.Since I've had it home for a while, it just sounds better and it fits well in a band mix, with my favorite pickup position in the middle, volume and tone full, and the 57 on 4 1/2. Mic it up and you have the record. Of course Sweetwater is the staff, and they are the best.
