Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster - White Blonde Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Ash Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - White Blonde

On January 31, 1969, Led Zeppelin played New York's Fillmore East for the first time. Their debut album had just been released, and the Big Apple was abuzz with the promise of this hot new British group. But they were as yet untested before an American audience, so Fillmore impresario Bill Graham booked them as the opening act for Iron Butterfly. Their first set that evening killed, tearing up the house so thoroughly that Iron Butterfly refused to go on after them again. So Led Zeppelin headlined the 11:30 show — never again to be an opening act. Jimmy Page played his Tele that night — the one he famously used on the first album, and quite frequently thereafter — sending shock waves into the audience with every strike of his pick and violin bow. Now Sweetwater is thrilled to present to you the Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster, a superb, American-crafted re-creation of this legendary instrument in all its glory.

Musical and Inspiring to play !

By Sweetwater Customer on September 1, 2022

I gotta thank Will Newbill for making this purchase happen !
I was a bit worried the guitar would sound thin and brittle - based on some videos I watched - but it is thick - punchy and clear with a sweet sparkle on top. Love the string thru bridge - I use Elixir Polyweb 10 - 46 - sounds great - releives tension and plays effortlessly - bends are a pleasure. I had SW set it up - Sean M did a great job on the setup - Luke T and Mike S inpected - great job guys!
Great collaboration between Fender and a great guitar legend... Jimmy Page!

Unbelivable Tele

By Sweetwater Customer on April 6, 2022

Don't need to say much. Buy this telecaster not because it's a Jimmy Page Model but because it's the best Telecaster I have ever played and I have played a lot.

Cool Telecaster

By Dieter Schulthess on February 5, 2022

This is really a cool sounding Telecaster. As most of us I have played plenty of different Teles in my life. But the Jimmy Page Telecaster has this little extra. It sounds a bit hotter and has more bite. Most probably this comes from the pickups and string toploading!
Great service from Sweetwater sales engineer Bob Mondock.

Great Telecaster, Unique sound

By Richard from Arizona on December 9, 2021 Music Background: Rock, post-punk, thrash metal

Picked this up because I was looking for a 50's body with a rosewood fret board. This guitar happened to be the closest to what I wanted so I bit the bullet. The built quality and play-ability of this guitar is great. From all the telecasters I played, the bridge pickup of this is fairly wild. Neck pickup seems slightly hotter than a typical Tele neck pickup but still sounds great. This guitar begs for full chords and a loud AC30. In fact, this guitar finally got me a particular 60s tone I have been looking for through my own AC30. Put this in front of any 60s style amp with a good fuzz or overdrive (such as Fulltone OCD) and you will not be disappointed. Loud and fun. This is not an AC/DC or 70s Led Zeppelin guitar. This guitar is meant for heavy chords through a fuzzy amp sound like Syd Barret era Pick Floyd and late Yardbirds/early Zeppelin tones. This is also great for brighter crunch tones like the Clash.

If you like thick, heavy, full body sounds (such as a Les Paul or even heavier body Telecasters) then you might not like this. If you like bright and aggressive sounds that you can augment with fuzz or volume sensitive distortion, then I think you will love this. This guitar has a thinner neck than other Telecasters that I have played and the frets are small so this might feel odd if your other guitars are all larger frets. If you are familiar with the current (2021 version) 60's Les Paul standard, the frets have the same feel. Overall, this guitar has a unique tele tone due to the pickups and great neck/body/fingerboard combo that does not seem very common.

Also, I did not install the mirrors and never will regardless of how much I admire this era of Jimmy Page. I got this simply because it was the only Fender telecaster I could find with body, neck, and fingerboard specs I wanted and it ended up being a perfect fit.

Great Guitar

This tele sounds great. Pickup have the vintage old school rock sound. Has a broke in feel to it. Put this one in your arsenal. You will be glad you did.

Good enough for Jimmy good enough for me

By Will from Texas on July 9, 2020

This is an amazing guitar. I have had other Teles but none played or sounded as good as this one. The neck has an excellent feel and is very fast and the frets are perfect no string buzz at all thanks Sweetwater for the free 55 point inspection! Also adding to the unique sound is a bone nut. It comes with a great case, a coiled cord, a strap and the mirrors if you decide to put them on. It is now my go to guitar as it has replaced 3 others. You will love this guitar!!!

Great Telecaster

By Rick from NC on July 8, 2020 Music Background: Worship band, Guitar geek

I really love this guitar. Excellent neck, pickups are mighty, build quality...Guitar has a very subtle beauty to it...comes with a lot of stuff as others have mentioned...i wouldnt dream of defacing this guitar with the included mirrors, but thats just me. Case is a laquered tweed with two lifting straps on the stow lid. Not the regular tweed case pictured. I was going to return this for a tele ultra if not satisfied, but this guitar exceeded my expectations! My only tele and its a winner! Thanks, as always to Nick Church, excellent service....the best!

My new No.1

By Eric on January 13, 2020

Amazing. Why this took so long to build I will never know. The mix of features on this are great. I am not a signature guitar kind of guy nor am I a Zepplin fanboy...this guitar is fantastic without those ties. The neck radius, rosewood board, ash body, nitro finish, pickups, neck carve, and string through bridge make this beast what it is. Don’t get me wrong, the signature plate is cool and so is the case candy but those were not the reasons behind the purchase. Do yourself a serious favor and noodle on one of these both with a clean amp like a jc120 and a good tube amp. It will be worth it.

Jimmy Jeff Beck Page TeleCaster

By John from Houston, Texas on January 5, 2020

Just received the new Jimmy Page Blond Mirror Telecaster and WOW! This guitar is fannn~~~tastic. The guitar was set up for Jimmy to go on stage and plow through the riffs as he takes me on that stairway. The case is great. I did mot have the same bad experience as some stated they have had with the case, it didn't have any chemical smell to it. When you want the best expect no less & contact the man, Mr. Jimmy Hart in Sales. He will get you fixed up with what you are looking for and answer all the questions you have so you will make a informed decision. "Take me back to the place. The place I was before. Keep me rock'in into outer-space through the future door."

Mighty fine guitar

By Jiminjax from Jacksonville FL on September 3, 2019 Music Background: Still suck

...the guitar is beautiful. Very retro, light, and just begs to be rocked! I disagree somewhat with other reviewers about the neck being chunky. Maybe it"s me but compared to my 59 RI Les Paul, Collings 360, even the deep -c necks on the Fender professionals it seems on the thinner side. I do like it, it feels fast and comfortable, just not "chunky". Dido on the review of the cases that come with many of the special Fender guitars. Feel and look cheap to me. I would just as soon have the hard shell that comes with the professionalism and elite series. YMMV

Great guitar sold by a great sales engineer to a lousy guitar player! Thanks Chris!

Amazing

By James Turk from Michigan on April 24, 2019

This guitar is absolutely amazing! I did have to do a set up to get it to my liking but after that it played like a dream. Its definitely my go to telecaster. A warning though, the finish is very thin and the strap that comes with it has exposed rivets that scratched off some of the finish on the first day. I don't get upset about that stuff but if you do if suggest using a strap without rivets.

Simply Amazing

By Mike from Virginia on March 30, 2019 Music Background: Musician/Engineer

So, I was fortunate enough to get to preview this guitar at the winter NAMM show in January, and I preordered one the following day; it was love at first sight. I mean, just look at it...that blonde finish is stunning!

But this guitar is so much more than a pretty face. I've never played a more comfortable and resonant guitar. If you're like me and like a nice chunky neck profile, this is the tele for you. The guitar is also beautifully balanced with rich low end and searing highs accentuated by that signature tele twang. It honestly sounds great even when its unplugged! However, it's the custom Jimmy Page pickups that really make this guitar. The pickups are insanely powerful, they definitely won't have a problem cutting through a mix.

If you can afford this guitar, buy it! You won't regret it.

Why heavy strings?

By Scott from Chicago on February 8, 2020 Music Background: Professional

JP has always played 8s. Why NiB with 10s. To really enjoy this instrument, I needed to restring it out of the box.

Fantastic guitar but............

By Sweetwater Customer on May 22, 2019

Since 1985 I"ve owned at least one Fender guitar. Good ones and not as good ones. This is by far one of the best telecasters that I"ve owned. I love everything about this guitar except the case. It feels like Fender never fails to disappoint on the simple stuff. Although the case for this guitar seems like an upgrade, it stinks of chemicals. I mean bad!!! I contacted Sweetwater and they contacted Fender for a replacement. First of all Fender sent out the wrong case, ( Same red interior but one snap on compartment instead of two, and get ready the same chemical stink. Just not as strong.) I think Fender gets the cheapest cases they can. Anyway great guitar, just buy a new case. Thanks for saving a few pennies Fender.
