Fender Highway 1 Telecaster - Honey Blonde Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Alder Body, Maple Neck and Fingerboard, and Two Single-coil Pickups - Honey Blonde

You'll take to the newly "repaved" Highway 1 Telecaster with its thin-skinned satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish that lets the natural tone of the body wood shine through, hotter and very distortion-friendly Alnico III pickups that produce a rounder sound but still feature that trademark Fender sparkle. Other improvements include super-sized jumbo frets for faster action, bold '70s styling, and exciting new colors. To top it all off, the Highway 1 Telecaster comes with a deluxe gig bag.

Killer pups.

By Richard from Warsaw

I'm obsessed with the Highway One pickups. Let me explain. The idea was to get hot but still twangy and classic signal. And by hot I mean 15K and 12K hot. That's some healthy numbers. For comparison, Seymour Duncan's "Hot Tele" is 16.2K (bridge), 9.9K (neck) but, and this is crucial, it's based on AlNico V magnets what is typical for a high-output p'ups. Meanwhile, HWY1's are Alnico III, the weakest of them all (!), usually used to get low-output 50's kind of signal, but here they have a massive overwound, maybe a double even to make it even. Hence the name Hot-Vintage. They are, and I mean it, one of a kind, and sound killer. A tiny bit of TS and my puny Pro Junior sounds so good makes me wanna cry. Don't underestimate them and don't listen to people who just chase a generic sound they heard over the radio. Explore them and you won't go back.

"A future classic"!

By Michael B. from New York N.Y. USA
Music Background: R&B, Blues,Rock,Funk,and Gospel.

Being a long time strat player I become interested in the Telecaster in recent years after hearing great guitarist like Steve Cropper and Albert Collins weilding these classic axes. I stumbled upon the highway one tele in a catalog and was impressed by the finish and "gutbucket" wiring, but when I played it that's what hooked me! I own a 3-color sunburst with a maple neck which I bought in 2008 without a regret! I can play this guitar without any effects and lose myself in it's amazing tone! I do believe this guitar will triple in value in the next few years, easily becoming a "classic tele"!

Crusin on Highway 1

By Eric S. from columbus GA
Music Background: Pro musician and Audio Engineer

I have always been a Fender Fan and played them throughout my 35 years of playing guitar. This is without a doubt my favorite guitar ever. The moment I got this beauty out of the box she just sang pure Fender tone. The neck is fast and smooth and the pickups are absolutley gorgeous. The bridge pickup has the trademark Fender Tele Twang to the clear bell tones of the neck pickup. The nitrocellulose finish is beautiful. I just love this beautiful Fender masterpiece.

hyw 1 teles

By franklin from ocean springs, ms
Music Background: choosing to be undiscovered at this time blues guitarist

years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 are the cream of the crop. the earlier guitars have flat pick-ups and the new model seems to revert to this sound. even the new texas special model does not growl like the two aforementioned years of hwy 1. test drive them and see if you can tell the difference.

Highway Tele

By Ken R. from Bakersfield, CA
Music Background: Hobbyist

Great guitar for the money, not as over priced as the rest of the USA models. Not a flaw, changed strings to 10's and set up to my own taste. Sweetwater did good on the shipping, had it in less than week (in Ca) I have had several Highway Strats and Teles and havent had a problem with a single one. I have had American standards USA reissues that I cant say the same about. I recommend the Highway series to anyone wanting a great guitar without spending hundreds more just for a gloss finish.

Tele Twang, Great Value!

By Tele F. from Maryville, Missouri
Music Background: Hobbyist

I bought the Honey Blonde version and I love it. It's got that vintage Telecaster sound that fits surf, rock 'n roll, blues and country to a tee. Nothing fancy here, just great sound and easy playing to boot.

"Everything you need, and nothing you don't," as the Fender people say about the Highway One . . .
