I honestly like playing this more than my American strat!

By Matt from Emeryville, CA on February 21, 2024

A crazy good deal for the price, giant leap in quality from the bullet/affinity lines - there are a few details where you can see that it's not a deluxe guitar (the pickup selector switch feels a little cheap, pots have a pretty abrupt taper, tuners are meh) but who really cares bc much more importantly- it looks lovely, the neck feels really nice, it plays great (didn't need a setup aside from slightly adjusting saddles), and I was shocked at how nice the pickups sound, particularly the full range style humbucker. I was planning on using this as a base and upgrading here and there but it's kind of just great stock. Dangerous bc now I want a bunch more classic vibe squiers haha.

My take on the Squire classic vibe 70’s Telecaster

Squier Classic Vibe '70s Telecaster Custom review

I purchased this guitar via Sweetwater about 2 weeks ago…Brook Floyd was my salesperson who btw is always good to me and professional in every way…ok, I'm nearing 69 and I've been playing since 1963 or so before the Beatles hit if you can believe that…I play professionally…I've done massive studio work for commercials..had a record deal and played on a few other major labels recordings…I'm semi retired and just teach now…

I own a 1976 Fender Telecaster Custom which I bought for $200.00 in 1979 used and feel in love with and it's been played to death…I ramped it up a bit with a hot bridge pickup and a Washburn Wonder Bar which added weight…
It at my age, although I've slowed down, I still play 5-6 hours a day and the weight of the 1976 version is difficult to deal with along with a 2015 Fender B Bender…I did research on this guitar for a spell and picked one of four offered by Sweetwater… I choose mine from the saddles…most were all the way to the "neck" on the B and E strings which is a big no no with me!…the one I chose was in the middle so it could be adjusted if need be easily …The only strange thing was the pickup switch was going left to right as opposed to up and down…then I like my action low up high so I took the neck off and shimmed it a wee bit…I've been shimming guitars since I was a kid with beat up Fenders so that doesn't scare me…

My 1976 has medium jumbo frets and as this one has the tall ones however it really wasn't bad for me to adjust…once the action was right I adjusted the saddle height cocking in the low and high E strings to go inwards toward the middle of the neck to get away from any crown issues…I like the C neck..it's halfway seemingly similar to the 1976 and
B Bender feel…but this bends easier than the 1976… as the radius is bigger…I don't t mind the finish polyurethane so much…although different from what I'm used to and I like they tinted the maple neck to make it looked aged…My Bender neck will always remain a whitewash which drives me nuts…But the Bender is a very fine guitar!

I actually love this new guitar…it bends easily as I'm a major bender… It stays in tune…the neck seems to be laid out well..frets and mathematics etc……it's in tune all up and down the neck…a major issue I've had with guitars in my day! And it resonates strangely well…The "hand thump" on the wood body is consistent…but it's nicely noticeable… sometimes the B string sounds "snappy" with me…but it's no big deal considering how this plays…

The sound is great on all the pickups…it plays smoothly and it doesn't kill my back nor my thigh with its weight as usually I play sitting down that way anymore…I can get about 75% fluent on it at present…I believe in time I can get that up to perhaps 90% or so…will it ever replace the other Fenders…probably not but it gets close…It gets real close!
That's my take…I love this guitar…

Ps..I checked the serial number..it was made in September 2023…

World of difference!!

By Len from SC on April 18, 2022

I recently purchased a Squier Classic Vibes Tele from AMAZON. Went with AMAZON thinking I'd get the best price plus PRIME free shipping. The guitar was delivered on time, but it had a few issues. The chrome bridge had numerous scratch marks around the mounting screws, and the body itself had a scratch where the saddles are installed on the bridge. I immediately sent it back, opting for a replacement.
The second guitar also arrived on time.
This one was WORSE. THERE WERE ACTUALLY SCREWS MISSING from the pick guard which was falling off as I removed the guitar from the packaging. One of the screws, that WAS in place, was STRIPPED! I immediately sent it back , now requesting a refund.
I had purchased items from SWEETWATER in the past , but was surprised to find the guitar I wanted was the SAME PRICE as AMAZON.
I called Chris Arnold personally and told him about my AMAZON adventures. Chris assured me that SWEETWATER conducts a thorough inspection of all guitars being shipped out to customers and encouraged me to give them a try.

My new guitar arrived in 3 days. I immediately noticed the superior quality of the packaging. The guitar was double boxed and very well insulated and protected. To my delight the guitar was in pristine condition.
Chris had sent photos of my actual guitar prior to shipping and the whole experience was pleasant and professional.
Any future guitars or gear I buy will be from SWEETWATER! MANY THANKS TO CHRIS ARNOLD!
I will feature a review of this guitar on my YOUTUBE channel in the near future.

Awesome.

I was never super crazy about fender, grew up playing metal so it was alot of Ibanez jackson esp for me, in fact almost bought a rhoads but kinda been more blues folk and post rock the past few years. Did a ton of research an it turns out a ton of my favorite bands all use some form of a tele so I figured I'd roll the dice on this one. Looks good, feels good, sounds great. Thought I was gonna have to save up 1500 for a nice tele but this one is pretty rocker for its price.

Smooth Guitar

I love the sound of this bad boy. You get so much toned out of this. Thank you Sweetwater.

Two for the price of one

I'm very pleased with the Classic Vibe Strat and Tele I recently purchased. I've been playing for 30 years and gravitated to humbuckers but wanted to try single coils. This Custom Tele and the HSS 70's fat Strat are the best of both worlds and give me great sound and look fantastic. Squier does a great job of delivering a quality instrument at half the price for North American made instruments. I now await the arrival of the Squier Starcasters to complete the set. Of course I would be remiss not to mention Sweetwater's great customer service and fast delivery which sets them apart. Thanks Chris Nunley for all you do.

Great guitar!

By Clark from Los Angeles on August 27, 2019 Music Background: 35+ years playing!

This is a fantastic guitar! Squier is putting out some pretty high quality stuff these days. I bought the 70's Thinline and was real happy with it, so bought this one too! Glad I did!

The neck is straight and smooth playing. The frets were dressed well...no sharp ends or high frets. As with the Thinline, the neck isn't "sticky."

The pickups are warm, and they're really responsive to your playing and pick attack. To me, they sound dark, which is what I prefer. However, with some EQ tweaking, you can still brighten them up if need be.

The hardware seems solid, but I'll be swapping out the tuners for locking ones. But thus far, the guitar stays in tune really well. The saddles are not individual, but rather 3x2 (2 strings per saddle). Intonation and string height were easily adjusted to my liking.

Overall, a solid purchase!

Wonderful!

I guarantee if I put this in my hands blindfolded, I couldn"t tell you it wasn"t a $1,000 guitar. It plays great! the neck shape is different than what I"m used to ( I usually play a soft V with a 7.25 radius) but I like it almost better than my strat. it really makes you want to play super gained up chords with the neck humbucker, and the bridge pickup is nice and bright with that classic tele twang. Really really versatile guitar and i just can"t put it down. The only small little complaint i have about it is the volume and tone caps are kinda cheapy, so I will probably just throw some better looking ones on there.

Like I said, cant recommend it enough. ...I don"t see it getting much better than this.

Great guitar

By Uncle Toulouse from Columbia, MO on January 12, 2022 Music Background: Player for 60 years, collector, breaker.

Mine was a floor model; Sweetwater overestimated wear so it looked new. My only complaint is that the switch didn`t work in the neck only position. Otherwise, it is so perfect in sound and playability that i didn't want to return it, as Sweetwater immediately offered. I`ve played for 60 years and blown away at the quality and sound. 5 star if not for the switch.

Timothy demonstrated why Sweetwater is the place to research and shop.

Sounds good

It sounded great but wasn't fit for my style of music. Overall great guitar for blues and classic rock!

Sorry I bought this

Recently bought a Squier Classic Vibe Strat, took it in for a set up. Luthier said this Strat is nicer than most of the guitars right out of the box than most of the guitars that people bring me. I expected the same thing when I brought this guitar in. Instead he said "if this was my guitar I'd send it back. Enough said
