Awesome Guitar
This looks and plays beautifully. I was in the market for a Tele and this one looked too gorgeous for me to pass up. Sounded great out of the box and I like the feel of the neck. Squier's have really come a long way.
I would buy this products again
I am not really fan of squire but some how I like to play this vibe , before I make a purchase I talked to my sale engineer Aaron Cieslikowski after he answer me back I order it, when I received I was so impressed with the quality of how Squire taking care the package this package is way better than Fender MIM and Some of USA I hope Squire keep like this High quality and taking care of Customers. Sweet water is another making good business too they protect original box and 55 point of setting up the equipment I am happy with my purchase of this product, this Tele is awesome and I can play any music and many other style now this Vibe 60 is become my favorite instrument I would recommend to my friends. Awesome guitar
Such a good guitar at a great price! The vintage tint gloss finish on the neck, and the bound body are what motivated me to buy it over a Fender. Satin finish necks, I don't go for that. Looks cheap. The pickups are great, pretty quiet too for single coils, and the guitar stays in tune. The only problem is my volume knob is shorting out after about two months. But I love it so much that I've been playing it non-stop, and I give the volume knob quit a beating everytime I play. It's really not a big deal in comparison to what a great value the guitar is overall. I feel bad even mentioning it. I would by another in a heartbeat.
I paid extra for plek setup, so worth it. My deepest gratitude to Justin Kessler and Sweetwater. I love you guys.
My buddy told me to check out the 'Tele' thing
Been a Strat guy for years. Never really even ever played a Tele. My buddy (55 years a gigging musician) said I should check one out. Did some research and settled on this one. So glad I did! The guitar is about perfect out of the box (thank you Sweetwater!) The fit and finish is spot on, and the neck plays like a dream. Really, the guitar is beautifully made. The only con I've noticed is that the tuners aren't that great (they have a lot of backlash and aren't quite as stable as I would like). I'm going to replace them with genuine Fender parts, that should solve the problem. Otherwise, no complaints. Also planning to mod it with compensated brass saddles, although the stock intonation is pretty much right on. Mostly I want to see/hear the difference. I don't actually expect the results to be that dramatic. Just want to check it out! I don't think you can go wrong with this guitar. Very well made and plays and sounds fantastic. Definitely has that 'Tele thing' going for it in spades. Shout out to Patrick for the great service I always get when dealing with him!
A fantastic guitar
This is the 6th telecaster I own and my first Squire. I am very impressed with everything about it. I was skeptical about the bridge, but the intonation is "almost" perfect. The only thing I had to do after unboxing it was to polish some goop off the frets and put some conditioner on the fingerboard which was very dry and lower the action. And one strap button screw was stripped, but I was going to put on a set of strap locks anyway, so no big deal. The pickups are lower resistance than my other Telecasters, but it produces a very clear and punchy sound, very unique. The volume and tone controls are smooth and very responsive. I bought this guitar with the intention of changing all the hardware, including the pickups, but for now I'm leaving it stock. No need to spend more money on a guitar that plays and sounds great. Looks great too.
Great value
A great value , excellent setup great sounding and playing instrument.
Update
I'm still quite happy with my Squire classic vibe 60s telecaster custom, and my 70s stratocaster however I have become aware of a scratchy tone pot on the Tele and a noisy pup selector on the strat. I've had no problems with the build quality of either guitar, I see where Fender cut costs with these 2 instruments, Im still happy with the sound and feel of both guitars but if I change the pot I might as well put a mojotone kit with gen 4 noiseless pups in it and go all out. Same with the Strat. With the build quality of the guitars, I believe this will give me 2 even more awesome guitars. They are both perfectly usable as they are, but a bit of ocd kicks in whenever I get the scratch from the pot and the switch, so I figure why not go for it. I'll repost in a few months or so after the mods.
Sweet Tele Sound
Great guitar, and even better service. Would not buy from anyone else.
Great guitar!
I had my eye on this guitar for awhile, but I wanted to be sure I'd get the most bang for my buck. At a local store I tried out one of the CV 60's Tele, as well as a MIM player Tele. In all honesty, there wasn't a whole lot of difference! There were a few minor things that swayed me toward the Squire, but mostly it was the vintage look... I love the binding! When it came time to buy, the local store didn't have a Squire in stock. The Player Tele they had, had a couple of issues that, IMHO, were not worthy of the Fender name (or the extra $$)
So this is where Sweetwater came in! Not only did they have several in stock, but I was able to see pictures of them and choose the one I wanted! When I ordered, the sales engineer Will was most helpful and very enthusiastic about my choice!
Delivery was quick, and soon I had my new guitar in hand. The fit and finish are excellent, and it was well set up by Sweetwater! All I had to do was tune it up! And it plays and sounds amazing! It's pretty much everything you would want in a Telecaster!
Somewhere down the road, I might buy a "real" Fender Tele, but for now (and for a long time to come!) I'm very happy with this one! Don't let the Squire name fool you - this is a great guitar!!
Classic Vibe for sure!
I love this thing. BIG bang for the bucks! Great quality.
Great Guitar
While I was waiting for a classic vibe 50s stratocaster to become available, I saw this tele and got an itchy trigger finger, not quite satisfied with the dual humbucker Michael Kelly tele in my collection, good guitar but doesn't have the true "tele sound", I was so impressed with my classic vibe 70s strat I was looking to buy another one. Please excuse my ignorance but I previously thought of a tele as a less evolved strat, but after doing a lot of research and listening, I began to appreciate the tones that only come from a tele. and after seeing this beautiful example, I decided to pull the trigger and I'm so glad I did. Out of the box the guitar sounded great and was very playable but after lowering the strings to my preference the guitar plays like butter. Now I'm not saying it's the best guitar in existence, the tuners are a little stiff but hold tune fairly well. I may replace them with locking tuners in the future, or not, haven't decided yet. The pickups can sound warm, bright, or both while remaining very articulate. I'm not planning to replace them. The fret work was very nice. Fit and finish were impeccable. IMHO the QC exceeded my MIM deluxe roadhouse stratocaster at more than double the price, the same with my classic vibe stratocaster. Both of which were better than my MIA 2012 Gibson at 3x the price. I am not a brand snob I just like good quality guitars. Besides, its the gunner not the gun. Some people feel that the earlier made in China models were better, but having lived in both China and Indonesia, as a working guitarist, I can say the craftsmanship depends on the individual and how motivated they are to do a good job and nothing to do with their nationality or locale. In fact, based on the guitars I own and play regularly, all my favorites were made in Indonesia even across brands. Coupled with the fact that my wife is from Indonesia, I'm a firm believer that great things come from Indonesia.
Amazing Telecaster
Bought this from Sweetwater and loved it right out of the box. Decided to give it a complete makeover. Deglossed it with steel wool, Relic'd the hardware, replaced the tuners with vintage locking tuners. New electronics from 920D with series/parallel pull switch. New Porter T90 pickups. Added a Bigsby with a Reverand soft spring, new bone nut, & strap locks. This is now my favorite guitar. Everyone that plays it wants to buy it. I would put it up against any American Telecaster. Plays smooth as butter!
You gotta be kidding.
My guitar that I purtured from sweetwater weight in at over 10 pounds! I didn't expect that, the teli is beautiful, sounds great played very well and to top it off it was in perfect tune . You can't go wrong with a sweetwater squiar.
Best Tele you can buy for this price
This is by far the best guitar I've ever bought. For this price, it's a pretty versatile instrument. It's actually my second time owning a 60's classic vibe tele. The first one I bought used but didn't really... well... vibed (sorry :D) with that guitar so I sold it.
2 years later, when Squier refreshed this line, I kept looking and looking at this particular guitar. Sweetwater finally had one in stock so I pulled the trigger. I picked the heaviest one in the lineup with a darker fretboard. It did not disappoint. -The pickups sounds amazing. I normally wouldn't replace the pickups but I have an overwound bridge pickup that I love.
-Fretwork is fantastic and perfectly polished. No sharp edges.
-Tuners were a bit stiff on a couple but it holds tuning well.
-The finish makes it look more expensive than it actually is.
Squier has come a long way. If you were like me and still thinking about this guitar, go ahead and buy it. You won't be disappointed.
Excelence
every now and then you find one that becomes one of the family
Handsome instrument that looks and plays far outside it’s price
I do appreciate a nice "burst" finish on a classic guitar such as the Telecaster. The fit and finish of this entire instrument is pretty incredible for the price paid. Once a guitar is off the stand in use while playing, most of our focus is on the neck. The Squier Classic Vibe 60's Tele has an incredible neck in both appearance and feel. The rich, vintage amber tint finish on the maple neck blends perfectly with the darker wood of the fretboard without any cheesy plastic binding. The body is bound - and the fretboard is clean and elegant looking - that's a nice combination displaying the right priorities by the designers. On mine, the frets are as finished and smooth to the touch along the margins of the fretboard as any USA made instrument I've owned in the past. The small headstock, the vintage tint, the bone nut, the easy to re-string vintage style tuners that stay in tune during vigorous playing, nicely voiced pickups, quality switching hardware and smooth pots, all of these things add up to one of my favorite guitars to date (I am 66 yrs old). Oh, by the way, it weighs 7 lbs 6oz and resonates in my hands acoustically like a swarm of bees. It's a keeper son.
Great guitar for a great price!!!!!
Great guitar plays very well!! The finish is super nice and clean and the pickups sound superb go ahead and buy one now while they are still there!!
Top notch squier tele
The classic vibe squiers are the only ones worth buying if you ask me. With slight modifications they play as good as any fender mex and some Americans. The squiers might need a little more care at first but once you fine tune them they become monsters! I replaced the saddles with genuine brass, added a treble bleed circuit, threw in a dimarzio twang king neck pickup and now its a bad monster!!! Looks absolutely amazing too! Got myself one of the nicest customs ive ever seen! Ive been gigging for a year with it and it sounds better than quite a few fenders ive played on/and with. People cant believe its a squier. They are also amazed by the looks but better yet blown away by the sound!! Love this guitar!
Great Tele at a Great Price.
Over the years, I've owned a number of guitars of all types and styles. This is in my opinion one of the best Tele's I've purchased and played. Particularly at the price point. Impressed with the quality as well even though it's not a USA made model. With some minor tweaks, right out of the box it plays very well, sounds great and stays in tune. Recommend this sweet Tele.to anyone wanting a very good player at a reasonable price. Additionally, I wouldn't buy from anyone else but Sweetwater. They truly are the best in products and service. This Squire will be my daily player for months to come. Lastly, the pic ups are killer! Rock on Dude!
Squire 60s telecaster custom
I bought this guitar several years ago so my telecaster is just a little bit different.Mine has the alder body and rosewood board. These guitars are built with great precision and beautiful finishes. My telecaster played perfectly when I unpacked it. Frets and fret ends were as good if not better than the American tele. There is so much you get for your money that I couldn't have been happier. Sweetwater folks treatede like I was a star during my purchase. If your thinking of buying one of these go out of your way and buy it from these good people.
Great with one exception
Guitar is fantastic except that the nut was cut a little low on the G,B, and high E. Was giving me that annoying sitar sound. For now I used the crazy glue and baking soda trick and recut the slots. But will be replacing the nut in the future. Besides that I can't fault anything else on the guitar.
60s CV Tele
It's good, having the best neck of the 3 Classic Vibes I've owned. It keeps in tune, the tuning machines are all holding up so far. After setup, fretboard clean + oil, nut and saddle lube, it plays good and feels right. The binding means a slightly less rolled edge around the body, but it looks great. You can find some really good usable tones in the pickups, but if they were better I would give it 5 full stars . If you are interested in an playable Tele you would feel ok with leaving on the couch, I entreat you to check these out seriously. My sales Engineer Kris Eckman has been eternally helpful, patient, accommodating and informative. There is a reason I'll keep coming back to Sweetwater, I have had nothing but the best experiences here and I knew if this guitar did not play well there would have been zero issue with an exchange/ return. It's a keeper though, thanks Sweetwater.
Update 2
Still a great guitar, replaced dime sized tone pot, no more scratch and more linear response. Original was almost on or off. Haven't felt the need to swap out pups. Might still in the future. Issues with Indonesian Squire is with Fender cutting cost with parts, no issues with fit and finish or build quality. IMHO great guitars, if Fender put higher cost components they would cost a lot more.
Anything you're unhappy with can be upgraded economically. Great things come out of Indonesia.
Classic then. Classic now.
I've had this guitar for 3 months now and i love it.
Excellent build quality. Rings like a bell right out of the box.
Weighs more than a regular squier telecaster, thicker body. Smooth glossy neck. Tuning stability is as good as MIM Fenders.
The only con i'd say is that the stock neck pickup is a little bland, I feel like I'm missing some high mids on the neck pickup position. It could be a pickup height adjustment... Bridge pickup is spanky like always, and with both pickups a great setting for rhythm guitar.
Final verdict
9 out of 10. Still an awesome Telecaster with all the mojo without breaking the bank.
Double-bound beauty!!
It's hard to find a better-looking tele than this thing. Not a fan of the butterscotch blonde or white blonde finishes, so when I saw they had a double-bound CV tele, I was really excited! Neck feels nice and fingerboard is smooth. My only problem is the pickups. Neck pickup is dark and bridge is too harsh. I also have a CV strat and jazzmaster and I didn't like their original pickups either. Seems like the big flaw in the Classic Vibes. But for me, it's worth it to buy the guitar and put new pickups in. Still cheaper than a Fender, and sounds better than one too.
KEEPER
This guitar is simply perfect. The guitar is 6 oz. heavier than advertised, so I knocked off 1/2 star. I really don't care after playing this thing. The body as best I can tell after opening the control cavity is at most-two pieces of wood front and back. The NATO (MORA) body is actually perfect. Though it is heavier than Mahogany and has twice the janka hardness it resonates as much as my SG. Just sustains and sustains. Definately happy with the wood Squier is using on this model. The grain of the wood and sunburst finish is amazing. Did I mention only two pieces? The neck profile for my medium hands is perfect. Laurel Fretboard is thin but perfect. Frets are perfect. Tuners are very good quality. Pickups are excellent. I have not even put new strings on this thing yet after a couple of weeks. I only retuned the low E when I pulled it out of the box. Many years ago I had a MIM standard Tele that was nowhere near this nice and it did not stick around long. This guitar is just perfection. One note about Teles-they reveal sloppy playing, they are great guitars that will make you work to get better. Sadly I must say there are a few guitars in my collection that will be moving on now. This Telecaster stole the show, it is just a superb playing instrument. My new #1 Love this guitar.
Almost perfect!
I wanted a new Telecaster… but was on the fence with getting this or the fender players series one. I tried out two players series guitars and was disappointed with their QC, so I pulled the trigger on this one. It did not disappoint at all. The only thing, and it is minor, is that the frets were pretty scratchy. After 2 weeks of playing, that is mostly gone. Amazing guitar!
Great Instrument
Highly recommended!!! I own Fenders and Gibsons and I had heard of the good quality of the Squier Classic Vibe series. I would say that the quality overall is very similar to Fender. The sound is really good. I'm happy for adding this piece to my collection.
Great but not perfect
Pros: finish, controls, pickups/sound, binding, hardware, neck shape, tuners, very little 60 cycle hum even with high gain, came with perfect intonation, nut
Cons: Some chips in the sides of the frets (doesn't affect playing), pickguard is cut sloppy, scratchy frets when bending, dot inlays have some imperfections, frets were a bit rusty but were fine after rubbing with them with some steel wool, some glue stains on the side of the fretboard
Overall a great guitar for the price that plays great, don't expect it to be flawless though especially the neck
Squier CV 60s tele custom
Love it. Sweetwater allowed me to find a sub-6lb. tele (thanks!). This is the Indonesia Cort factory version. Yes, I would buy again, but... The truss rod nut is soft pot metal instead of hardened steel, and the supplied allen key is a very tight fit. I have ball end truss rod wrenches so no problem. Tuners are low quality. After fiddling with all the other tuning stability variables, I spent $50 on Kluson Supreme tuners. Now it stays in tune w/ light strings and extreme bends like a tele should. Guitar has zero (0) shielding. I did a quick shielding job on the pickguard because static buildup was being amplified by the pickups, especially the neck PU. Personal preference, I'm not a fan of Indian Laurel fretboard. I thought it might darken up with lemon oil, but it still looks like washed out driftwood. To the good, everything else is pretty much a 10/10. I don't feel the need to change anything else. Having owned 10 tele-style guitars, I'm perfectly happy with this as my one and only.
Thank you Sweetwater!
Superb customer service . My sales engineer was very good. Excellent communication.
My telecaster jive 60 was played by an experienced guitarist through a tube amp. Wow! Great sound clear and I can't wait to start playing.
Thank you all.
Outstanding service!!
I just recently bought one of these fantastic guitars. At the moment I placed my order, I received a text message from my assigned sales engineer who welcomed me as a Sweetwater customer. He also sent me details of my order, invoice and the tracking of my guitar. Buying from Sweetwater was a great experience.
Thanks to the Sweetwater team.
Very disappointed, not what they used to be.
I've owned a made in China 60's Tele Custom some years back along with a classic vibe pine tele and was sorry I sold them, real sorry. I bought a 2019 tele custom made in Indonesia and although the guitar overall was made ok the neck and frets had issues where it would buzz out on bends above the 15th fret. I sent it back for an exchange and the same thing. Also they no longer have pickups made by Tonerider. Also don't care for the new taller frets. The necks on the older models were as good as a MIM or MIA Fender but not on these new ones. Shame on Fender for downgrading what use to be a great line up.
