A very nice guitar

By Jay from Maryland on May 22, 2023 Music Background: Playing for 50 years, gigging for 40 years.

Not sure if this review will be published as I bought my Tele Comp used from a third party. It is my go to guitar now. I play in two bands and this guitar is versatile enough for rock, blues, and country. I am absolutely serious when I say the I play this guitar 90% of the time now. It feels so comfortable, the neck is well made and the fret work is superb. The pickups are great and with a twist of the tone knob and a flick of the switch, I can get a wide variety of tones. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone. And yes, I would also recommend you get it from Sweetwater. While I didn't buy this particular guitar from them, I have purchased a lot of equipment from them. Guitars, amps, mixers, recorders etc. and found their customer service to be the best. Ask foe Derrick.

An amazing guitar

When I look for a guitar typically seeking matte finish neck and noiseless pickups so I found an open box deal on this guitar. I'm not the type to ever modify a guitar I think is worth something but because of the price I felt fine to add a pick guard for a more classic look and switched the internal electronics to Emerson which meant also modifying the knob fittings and changing control plate for proper pot spacing. Kept it black though to maintain the hardware. Upgraded the neck pickup to a railhammer. Kept the bridge. The black binding is very sleek. Total investment and it looks and feels like an 800 dollar guitar. As silent as my player plus strat's noiseless pickups. Doesn't have the tele twang but I have other guitars for twang so wasn't going for that anyway. Plus can slap a set of 55 antiquities in anytime for that, would give any custom fender tele a run for its money. Going to use it for a touring / local gig setup where I don't have to worry about the guitar but also is still going to sound good and play well. Very happy, definitely worth even the retail value.

Amazed

I usually only purchase higher end guitars, my last being an American professional telecaster deluxe, mainly because you get what you pay for. I was looking for a tele of a different vibe this time and saw the contemporary. I absolutely loved the colors, the roasted neck and the matching headstock but saw it was a Squier which turned me off at first. The reviews were good so I took a chance, thinking I would send it back if it was garbage. After receiving the guitar and looking it over I couldn't believe the quality for the price! The neck was smooth and beautiful, the fretwork was on point and the fret edges weren't sharp an undressed. I've even had American standard instruments with sharp fret edges back in the day. Squier' s modern game is absolute fire and this guitar is no exception. It's an absolute blast to play! I wanted a fun, rock oriented tele with no hum and that's exactly what this is. Clean tones sound great but the pickups really excel at the crunch and beyond tones. This guitar looks like a way more expensive telecaster and I couldn't recommend it more! I also love how the pickup selector switch is beneath the volume and tone control so it's out of the way. The volume knob is in a perfect place to roll with your pinky when playing. All in all this contemporary telecaster is done right. The setup was on the higher side for me when it arrived which isn't a problem to adjust. After 15 minutes of setup, like I do on all my instruments, she was good to go. Back in the day I would have never purchased a Squier guitar, with me being a more serious player, but after this purchase I may never overspend on the higher end models again. This guitar is a sure keeper!

This squier is awesome

By Mike from Ohio on July 6, 2022 Music Background: I'm 57 been playing since I was 15 started giging in bands from my early 20s until my mid 40s everything from metal to bluegrass

I've wanted this guitar since it's release, and finally got it and can't believe how good it actually is and props to Sweetwater for for there setup and handling of their guitars, Not only was it in perfect condition, this guitar has killer tones and super comfortable to play, I've had no tuning issues, lack of motivation issues to pick it and on it everyday (#10)in my collection, I heard there not going to make anymore so if you like rocking high quality telecasters this is a no brainer so glad I finally purchased it no regrets
Thanks Sweetwater

Lots of bang for your buck!

I'll start with the neck, the neck feels great! it's a satin finish and it's real slick and smooth. the frets aren't sharp and they're polished so well you'd think they were stainless steel frets. The neck just feels right.
The body is a hard gloss finish, there's a belly contour and neck heel contour that just makes this thing feel so comfortable to play. it's lightweight too!
The pickups and hardware are alright, the hardware finish does ware a bit, but that adds the worn in look. The pickups sound pretty good, if you're used to Duncan's and EMG's you'll definitely notice these don't quite compete, but they work and they can sound pretty narly. For under 500 bucks, you really can't go wrong, it's definitely one of the top guitars in its price range, for sure!

Amazing but true....

Idon't know how I stumbled upon this Guitar but stumble I did. My first Guitar was a Telecaster and of her I have fond memories. This Version is both Sweet and Hot thanks to the pickup designs. Controls are easy to become accustomed to and the three-way switch is crisp not flimsy as others are. My only Con and it is really more a preference are that the head of the Guitar is painted the same color as the body, but it does include Chrome Lettering which adds a touch of class. I would rather it continues the beauty of the Neck's Natural tone of the wood itself but to reiterate it is a personal perk. If you are serious about Guitar than you owe it to yourself to buy this Guitar. Gibson by Fender...who would have thought!

Not bad just not what I was looking for.

Let me say that this guitar felt great in hand. It played great and looked amazing. The pics really don't do it justice. The highs and mids sounded great but in all honesty, for me, the low end was lackluster. For that I gave this guitar 4 stars because Squier has really come a long way. I really wanted to like this guitar but I did end up returning it.
