The Fender American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster is a remarkably accurate take of a classic solidbody electric guitar. The '63 Tele includes a balanced-sounding solid mahogany body, while its year-specific Pure Vintage '63 Telecaster single-coil pickups yield jangly, smooth, sparkling tones with a distinct twangy bite. You'll appreciate the effortless playability of this guitar's 1-piece, "C"-shaped maple neck and vintage-radius, round-lam rosewood fingerboard. The American Vintage II 1963 Tele is chock-full of period-correct appointments, including knurled flat-top knobs, a 3-barrel bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, and a head-turning nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body and neck. If you want to own a piece of Fender history, then you'll be tremendously pleased by the American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster — it's a dream come true for '60s-era Tele aficionados.

Plays like a dream - yep I got the PLEK

By Don Stefani from Kuna, ID on September 1, 2023 Music Background: 55 years of guitar playing!

Growing up I played a Les Paul Recording that I had modded with high impedance humbuckers.
I got it in 1972 when I was 12 years old, so it was a early 70's Norlin era guitar.

It was designed to Les Paul's personal spec's, he liked the small vintage style frets AKA: "the fretless wonder". That guitar had the fastest neck I ever played. Like an idiot I sold it and I've never found one that played like it again.

Fast forward to this Tele! It plays SO easy. Moving between frets is almost effortless. Of all the guitars I've owned since about 1981, this has the neck I've been looking for. That's A LOT of guitars!!!

I did invest in having it PLEK'd, so I don't know the difference of how it played before the PLEK, but boy does it play nice now.

All that said, it also sounds great. Between the tone and the feel, it really inspires creativity.
And that's what it's all about right?

Incredible

Just received this gem. Fit and finish is fantastic, this guitar does not disappoint. I loved the transparent crimson red finish the minute I saw it, and in person it's gorgeous. Plugged in the pick ups sound incredible…such a nice balanced tone. The neck fits my hand perfectly, it just feels right. Unplugged this guitar resonates like nobody's business, I can't put this thing down. A big shout out to my sales engineer Mitch Dazey and the whole gang at Sweetwater!!! I picked this baby out, Mitch and the crew expertly packed it up & shipped it out and I received it one day later!!!
If you're on the fence with this particular guitar, get off the fence now, get online and order it from Sweetwater. You will not be disappointed.

Get your hands one quickly!

I've been searching for an affordable early 60's style Tele for several years. The only re-issue models I could find with a 7.25" radius fretboard were the Brent Mason (maple fretboard) or a Fender Custom Shop model. And both are a bit above my budget. This guitar covers all the bases at a very affordable price point.
The neck shape on this guitar fits my hand perfectly. The edges are rolled, nicely and the fretwork is excellent. I prefer a rosewood fretboard and the feel, radius, and taper of this neck are near perfect for me. The finish is smooth and the Vintage style logo on the headstock is a nice touch. No skunk stripe, as these have the truss rod installed beneath the fretboard "cap." Tuners have a bit of a different feel if your used to modern tuners, but they are great.
The transparent red Nitro finish is thin, smooth, and even has the right smell to it. And I love the (uncommon) Mahogany body. Pickups are somewhat quieter than the modern pickups I'm used to but sound amazing. The volume and tone balance across the strings is outstanding. They are plenty bright while avoiding the "ice pick" highs of early Tele's. Roll off the Tone a bit and they sweeten up nicely. An outstanding guitar. Great work Fender! I'm in love.
This is about as close as you can get to a Custom Shop model in a production guitar. Get your hands on one before Fender discovers what they're doing and either raises the price or stops producing these.
