Fender American Ultra Luxe Telecaster - 2-color Sunburst with Maple Fingerboard Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Ash Body, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, and 2 Single-coil Pickups - 2-color Sunburst

One look confirms it: the Fender American Ultra Luxe Telecaster isn't your father's Tele. Quite the contrary, this is a thoroughly modern axe that's built for modern players. The American Ultra Luxe Tele's compound-radius fingerboard and tapered neck heel turbocharge your playing, while Ultra Noiseless Vintage Tele single-coil pickups elicit classic Tele tones with zero hum out of any amp — tube, solid-state, or modeling. You also get an S-1 switch for expanded sonic options. What's more, this solidbody electric guitar comes armed with sealed locking tuners, a 6-saddle bridge with chromed brass saddles, and a Tusq nut. There's no doubt that the American Ultra Telecaster was built for Tele aficionados who demand ultra-performance.

A once in a life-time guitar

By Colin Shreffler from Castle Rock, CO on February 27, 2024

I absolutely love everything about this guitar. It's a once-in-a-lifetime guitar and I'll never part with it.

Every pick-up position is unique and beautiful. The push button option for the middle position is a very welcome addition as it gives a new beautiful tone option.

The neck feels brand new but broken at the same time. It's extremely comfortable to play with no sharp edges at all. It's my favorite neck profile so far on any guitar. I had the PLEK treatment done to this guitar and am able to get the action so low it plays like butter.

Every single feature of this guitar is top of the line and designed with the player in mind. I can't find a single flaw with it and it's built to last a lifetime.

It has become my #1, go-to, guitar and I couldn't be happier.

A huge shout out to Aaron Vidusek at Sweetwater. Your customer service is exemplary and I greatly appreciate all your support. You clearly love what you do and I value your opinion and expertise.

Spectacular

Tele sunburst ultra luxe

Recieved it a few days ago and love the guitar. Very comfortable guitar and the quality is excellent.

Amazing Guitar!!

By Stephen Katz from Santa Cruz, CA on December 5, 2023

I was waffling between this model and the Ultra before i made my decision. Ultimately the stainless steel frets and the (more resonant, heavier and more interesting) ash wood persuaded me. I got the sunburst SS model btw. Build quality on this guitar was amazing and out of case experience was one of the best i've ever had! I have a few tele's but like the hybrid neck on this model best. Pickups are dead quiet as advertised without sacrificing ANY of the classic tele tone. Case is a tank- way better than the standard fender case fare. Only issue i had was (being a palm-rester on bridge) that the saddle height screws were a thread or two long and bothered my palm a bit - tech swapped out with slightly shorter allan studs when he setup for me. Setup out of box was fine btw / i just have a few special likes that i like to incorporate. Thus guitar looks as good as it sounds! very happy with this!!! Lots of internet chatter about cost being a little high but i felt this model is a great value!

Quality (that`s it in one word)

By Christopher Dale from Franklin, MA on August 7, 2023

USA quality at its best. Prefect finish, playability right out of the case. The extras provided by the Ultra Lux are well worth the additional cost. Stainless steel frets are a must have in all of my guitars. the augmented D neck is great if your preference is for a more flat type of profile compared to a full fat C neck. The shaping of the body and heel make this a comfortable fit in any position. I have never played country however I can now understand why the tele has always been there center stage, country style licks just seem to emerge from this guitar from all of the pickup positions.....
A great addition to the arsenal and definitely a "keeper" !

What a Dream Guitar.

By charley gimble from Washington, UT. on June 21, 2023 Music Background: Playing guitar since I was 10, growing up with the Beach Boys and playing daily

If you like a beautiful, easy playing, great sounding guitar this is it!!! I had to wait 2 months to receive it but wow was it worth it. From the paint job of the guitar and the headstock, to the great sounding pickups, to the effortless stainless steel frets this baby is worth every penny. I had 10's put on it and had sweetwater PLEK it. This guy is my favorite. I have 3 telecasters and 3 stratacasters all from sweetwatA shoutout to Kurt Martin my sales engineer for the past 20 years..

TelecasterUltra Luxe-Urious

By Wayne Da' Flow from Sea Girt, NJ on May 24, 2023 Music Background: Saw Buddy Holly LIVE on Ed Sullivan show and said "that's what I wanna do!

*Ash body
*S-Lock strap buttons
*6-saddle bridge
*Matching 3-Ply pick guard
*'60s-style painted head stock
*Augmented "D" profile compound radius neck with rolled fingerboard edges
*Stainless steel frets, locking tuners...all this and a bag of candy!

The world's first mass-produced, commercially successful solid-body electric guitar, (originally named the "Broadcaster") by 1955 the Telecaster had set the stage from California to Nashville for the That Tele Twang revolution. The Telecasters simplicity and efficiency, as a solid reliable workhorse guitar, remained hallmarks of its design for seventy-plus years. So how could Fender possibly improve on this, without; "over-alterations" adding bells and whistles and switches.....and yet, keep Leo Fender and Doc Kauffmans' tried and true ideas timeless and appealing?

With 50 plus years of slingin' axes (mandolins, banjos and even a bouzouki I picked up in Cypress!) I believe the UltraLuxe series is a very well thought out and superbly executed modern upgrade to the "chicken pickin' plank" that helped put Bakersfield Ca. on the map! Comparing my new UltraLuxe Telecaster to my stock/original '58 is not just night and day; but a satisfaction seeing and feeling the evolution of a timeless legacy. I consider myself "an accumulator" not "a collector"; all 22 of my guitars and basses get played regularly (benefits of retirement and 25 years of sobriety!lol) but either way the UltraLuxe series Telecaster (and Strat) are well worth owning. Hats off to Fender for forward thinking and innovation without "spoiling the sauce".

I've had a few SE's at Sweetwater over the years, my last one for nearly 8 of those and we became good friends, on and off the grid. So, when I was assigned a "new guy", being an old school rocker I had to "test him", you know...feel him out so to speak; like the new bass player in the band. My new SE Cam McMullen stepped up to the plate and got the UltraLuxe (which was on pre/back-order across the country) set up perfectly and delivered before I could solo over a I-IV-V! Thanks Dude!! Pound for pound, there's no place like Sweetwater Sound!

Absolutely the nicest, smoothest, and trouble free telecaster I have ever played in 30 years. Well
Done Fender!

Fender American Ultra Luxe Telecaster-2 Color Sunburst with Maple Fingrtboard

By David from Richmond, Va on January 12, 2023 Music Background: Musical Instrument Crazed Collector and Musician

WOW and Double WOW !! This is the best Tele EVER PRODUCED IMOP. It is toatly gorgeous in fit and finish and literally plays like butter. Everything about it is first class. It is the fastest neck Fender has ever produced and the first time ever for Stainless Steel frets. The Neck feels fabulous. I have had a lot of Teles in the past and none compare to this one. How can the Ultra Luxe ever be topped ?? It is expensive ,and will probably raise in pricing again soon. It seems a little heavy for Ash wood , but is lighter than non Ultras. This is a life time keeper for me and I buy , sell & trade a lot. I have never run across a Tele that plays like this one. I could go on & on but I will close by stating " Grab one of these while you can & before the price goes up again

Tele

Long wait but Worth the wait. Not Sweetwater's fault.
2 color sunburst, black headstock
With black pick guard.
I Tweak string height & pickup height to my taste.
Thanks Corey with all your help.

Excellent sounding and playable telecaster!

By Fred from FOLSOM, CA on February 6, 2022

Stainless steel frets, augmented D neck, and 10-14" compound radius are my favorite features on this tele. Those changes make it very easy to play precisely and fast. The tones obtainable from this tele are excellent. My favorite positions are the middle with S1 engaged and the neck. Only con, IMHO, is the price.
