Fender American Professional II Telecaster - Sienna Sunburst with Maple Fingerboard Reviews

Hi fellow Guitarist, this is an update to my previous review I wrote , if you noticed my 4 stars went to 5 stars(why?) cause I love this guitar, it's amazing and stunning to look at.. I can't put it down, not going to get all technical about it I'll leave that to other people on here, but im tellin ya this guitar sounds beautiful, if ya wanna get loud and funky you can do that.. if you wanna play some smooth easy listening type stuff, got that covered too. I play some country rock , some folk and a little bit of all genres and all I can say is" it's perfect" just what I expected Thanks Sweetwater .. this is my second guitar I've bought here.. both times has been wonderful, and super fast delivery. Ordered yesterday and got it today! Can't beat that friends!

I don't write reviews but I'm so blown away by everything about this guitar that I wanted to write this. I have a PRS Custom 24 (Dimarzio de-activator pickups) and a ESP JH Truckster with the Hetfield EMG's in it. Plug either of these into my Supro Delta King 12 and they sound incredible. But, neither one of them holds a candle to this guitar. My girlfriend who knows nothing about tone or guitars was commenting on how great the tone is. It also showed up in perfect condition and perfectly set up. I don't inspect things that well either but I read another review where the dude inspected his guitar really well. I did this and it is perfect. Not to mention that the pictures do it no justice. You get it and you can't believe how much more depth there is to the look of the body and how the Maple neck goes perfectly with it. I named mine chunky monkey. I was looking for hot, single coil, tele tone. This is that and more! So much more!

I bought this guitar a few months ago. It plays great, feels great, and sounds great. Would HIGHLY recommend this instrument.

This is my first Telecaster and I'm super impressed by the tone and playability of this guitar. Everything I throw at it from jazz, to blues, to rock sounds amazing. It has a springy sound and feel to it that make it super fun to play. The neck is really comfortable and the build of this guitar is flawless. The wood tones look even better than the pictures. It's really a work of art. I did adjust the play action as it was higher than I prefer. I recommend using the music nomad action tool for this or bringing to a luthier for a setup. I don't fault Fender or Sweetwater since everyone's preference is different. This is my first large purchase with Sweetwater and my rep Todd Kitchen was amazing. He gave me a great deal that I could not turn down. I'm really impressed by the personalized service of Sweetwater and will definitely be buying all my future gear from them. They even do a professional photo shoot of the guitar you are receiving. If you are considering this guitar, reach out to your rep and get a great deal, you won't be disappointed!

I describe this guitar to people as....Its like 100 albums that youve heard before. Its timeless. Plays great.

This is my first american made Fender Telecaster and it does not disappoint. I love the thick neck and smooth maple fingerboard. The tones I can get with this guitar are amazing. From old school to modern tones. This axe has handled everything so far with pure joy to my hands and ears. I love it!

The setup from Sweetwater was almost perfect out of the case. Great job Matt & Sweetwater! If you have to purchase a guitar online as I do, Sweetwater is the only place I trust. This is my fourth guitar purchase from Sweetwater and they are all great playing, sounding and looking guitars.

I have been playing for a long time now and its been 20 years since I bought a new guitar. This Tele was worth the wait. I'm not gong to be technical about all the features but I will say this guitar is really very easy to play, the finish on the neck is super smooth and comfortable. It, of course, has the classic Tele look and the Sienna Sunburst finish looks better than it does in photos just amazing!!! The good folks at Sweetwater were terrific in assisting me with picking out the exact model and the whole process was smooth as silk. Go get one; you'll be glad you did.

Beautiful finish, love the maple fingerboard and frets. The pine body is special and it sounds great, what more could you want? This gem rocks and has that tele sound and vibe! Thanks to Mike Wright at Sweetwater for helping my awesome wife get this for me for Christmas! Loving it.

Tiberious my sales guy had the action set and intonated with the strings I asked for, after un boxing it, I was amazed at the quality of the work, they have out done them self's with the new Telecaster, it is better than an older ones, sound is the same and I don't need another guitar , this one goes from true classic Blues and jazz to full on rock, and everything in between, case is great and sturdy well lined for protecting the guitar, cant say enough about it, best yet from Fender, worth every penny I spent and more , even sold my Gibson Les Paul, was a 70's tribute model, this is light in weight and good for my back problems, also the neck makes it fun to play, cant put it down when I pick it up, it inspirers me to play more, at least for me, this is one great guitar

I'm super super picky and inspect every inch of a guitar when I get it. This one was flawless. The neck feels great and it plays and sounds awesome when I plug it straight into my Marshall JVM 205C. I mean this thing rocks! I have used mostly humbuckers but these days I mostly play my strats but I wanted something that was easier to tune and stay in tune. I did not have it set up and the action is a little high for my liking, but I will fix that. The only change I made was to put on fender locking tuners. I put those on all my fender guitars. Just my personal prefrence. I went back and forth and back and forth on the finish. In the end I got the Sienna burst and it's just beautiful. All in all... awesome! Now for a shameless plug on one of my other guitars, I got one of the first runs of an EVH Wolfgang Specials in matt army drab. I had to wait 6 months for it and yes I got it from Sweetwater. That guitar just about crushes every guitar I have ever had! And at $ back in the day... it is an incredible guitar. I wouldn't sell it for $3000. It's just that good. But that does not mean I don't love my Tele!

This guitar is really amazing, light and great tone. Very easy to play and beautiful. I always played Strats before, but never owned a Tele. Now I know the difference and how it feels. Sweetwater customer service was also amazing, made my shopping experience a lot easier and great satisfaction. Personalized service end to end!

I love this guitar. I got the Sienna Sunburst with a roasted pine body. The specific one I got only weighs about 6.5 lbs. It sounds and plays great. Sweetwater's customer service was excellent as usual.

Pine body light, smooth rolled fingerboard edges, narrow-tall frets that call for a lighter touch, and two V-Mod single-coil pickups that give me the "twang" for which I was looking. This instrument plays faster than I expected. I am totally enjoying this purchase. Couple this wonderful axe with Sweetwater's extraordinary service, plus my personal adept advisor, make this a solid decision. Did I mention that this is a beautiful guitar?!?

I love a Tele. And this one exceeded my every expectation. It's gorgeous. The pine body is lightweight and very responsive. The series/parallel push/push knob was the big surprise. I've never had such a dark, full tone out of a telecaster.

The neck feels right. The pickups are nice & spanky. And the Am Pro II upgrades make this a very comfortable guitar.

This is a great upgrade of an already great guitar. And Sweetwater is on top of everything. Shout out to Brian Loney and his team for making this a great guitar-buying experience.

Got this gem in less then 24 hours! Plugged it into a Fender 57 Custom Deluxe amp and rocked out. Very articulate sound. The pickups & phase parallel switch gives you multiple options of tone. Thanks to my sound engineer Rob Amaral! He has recommended several items (including this guitar) & has been 100% correct on every item. The service that Rob supplies is without equal. If you're looking for a sound engineer, run don't walk to Rob Amaral.

First, this is the best fit, finish and workmanship I have seen on a Fender in a long time. At least one not from the Custom Shop. Starting with the neck, the new finish and rolled edge on the neck are superb. Rivals Music Man for smooth feel. The roasted pine body feels very light and has great tone. The pickups hit the classic Tele tone, but a touch more fullness. The series switch is great. I have this function on my partscaster Tele also and like it a lot.

But saving the best for last, the Sienna Sunburst w/maple is really beautiful. As good as Sweetwater's photos are, they do not do it justice. The way the colors come together to give both a traditional and modern feel has to be seen. Overall the quality and performance I expect from guitars well over $2K. :)

And a molded hard case at this price? Sweet. No pun intended. And if you don't already have your own Sweetwater person, Aaron R has been my guy for 7 years, give him a call.

This is a beautiful instrument, but what's better is the quality of the features and components that make it a joy to play. The custom pickups have a variety of tone that can support any musical style ( probably wouldn't use it for thrash metal). This instrument really allows for the expression of the player's fingers to shine through, which was what I was looking for...even through the Fractal Axe Effect III. The Pine body works just fine no complaints.

Kyle and all the people at Sweetwater were fantastic. The guitar was well packaged for shipping, arrived on time and was in perfect condition. Now I just need to play up to its' potential. I will definitely buy from Sweetwater again.

I just bought my dream guitar, I can't wait to get it tomorrow, however I bought a new strat about two years ago and I love it( honeyburst performer strat) this time I opted for the professional tele, I know I'm gonna love this guitar.. I will update this review after I get my tele, then I can tell you all about it( problem is, I already have another guitar in mind) and my wife is going to kill me lol. I have 7 guitars, I don't think she feels like I need number 8 but the what do they know lol

Besides its sharp appearance this guitar has a wide range of tone stored under the hood. The mod pickups are really quite amazing. It takes awhile to explore the color variations between working the volume knob and tone control. I was starting to think tone controls are a waste of space, but for this guitar it is quite functional. The neck for me took some getting used to since it is a thick "C" style neck (I prefer a more "D" contour), but I quickly adapted to it and got used to it and now it is pretty comfortable to play. This really is a quality instrument, and does the job a tele is meant to do. I look forward to the music it will inspire me to come up with. No regrets here.

Ordered one of these and got it the next day. That was the best part of my experience. Got the guitar out the next day and it was completely unplayable right out of the box. The high and low E string saddles were bottomed out on the bridge plate and the strings were still about a 1/4" off the frets at the high end. I found I could only do "cowboy chords" to judge whether I like the guitar or not. It has the micro tilt feature but I am completely uncomfortable with loosening the neck screws to adjust the angle. And I certainly don't want to pay a Luthier to set it up after I just paid a king's ransom for the guitar. It could have been just that one guitar for sure. As usual the service provided from Sweetwater was top-notch throughout. However this is for sure the last guitar I ever buy without playing it first.
