Squier Affinity Deluxe Telecaster Silver Burst

By Kertis Vinson from Oklahoma on March 15, 2024

I'm just thoroughly impressed with this guitar! The neck feels great, almost as good as my two other $1000 Telecasters! I've had it for about 3 weeks. Checked intonation after unpacking it. Spot on. Tuned it up, almost 3 weeks later it's still in tune! Fit and finish are perfect. For the money, I'd recommend this guitar every time!!!

Punches above its weight

There are many things to like about this Squire Tele Deluxe :

Controls mounted out of the way - very UN-like those on my Strats.
Separate volume and tone controls like my Gibsons.
The ceramic neck P/U is full and articulate.
Rad silverburst finish.
Excellent fit and finish overall. (Mine's made in Indonesia)
Set up perfectly out of the box.
6-Saddle bridge with die-cast saddles.
Classy gloss-finished head-stock face.
Screwed on jack plate - more secure than the classic Tele receptacle.
Resonant, lightweight Poplar body is EZ on your body.
1-11/16" at the nut - wide enough for human hands.
Dark Indian Laurel fret-board - a close approximation to Rosewood.
Sealed tuners with split safety posts.
Hard-tail bridge for tuning stability and no wobble when bending strings.
Very playable neck, with a comfortable 9-1/2 radius, and no fret-outs even with the action set low.
Strat-type belly relief for improved ergonomics
Medium jumbo frets.
Inexpensive.
Fun to play.

These are the "issues" - (if you can call them that). None are of any real consequence:

Used alone, the bridge P/U has a brittle, nasal timbre IMO - but an easy upgrade if you are so inclined.
Neck-dive like an SG. (Get a cotton canvass or a suede strap - it helps a lot.)
You have to remove all the screws and switch retainer to get all the pick-guard protective film off - this is a pain but allows the opportunity to rotate the 3-way switch 90 degrees - if you're used to Gibsons.
The pots are not full sized but they'll do for now. (I'll change 'em later for solid shaft CTS or Alphas, with real Fender amp knobs.)
Raising or lowering the P/U pole pieces wicks up some potting wax. (Take care not to scratch the covers when removing it.)

Great guitar, great value

Received this guitar within 2 days of ordering. Right out of the box- great action, no fret buzz, no fret sprout or sharp edges, perfectly intonated. Tuning stability is excellent. The finish and hardware are excellent. No need to have it "set up". The humbuckers sound great and it's really fun to play. I am really impressed with the quality of the guitar, especially at this price point. This is my second Affinity Telecaster. That one was great out of the box and this one is just as good if not better.

Awesome Guitar right out of the box!

By Dave Diliscia from Pennsylva on December 1, 2023 Music Background: 40 plus years

This is a beautiful guitar. I am thrilled at what a value it is. The neck, finish, electronics, hardware are top notch. The humbuckers sound great and are versatile. The guitar out of the box has little need for set up or adjustments as the intonation and action are excellent. The tuning stability is also excellent. This is my second Affinity Tele, and like my first one, this one didn't dissapoint at all. Great value. Also want to thank the folks at Sweetwater, Parker specifically for putting together a bundle package including a stand, strap, picks and headstock tuner. The original bundle was sold out, which is what I wanted. After I inquired, I ordered the guitar alone anyway, but was then contacted and they made it happen for the same price as the original bundle. Great customer service as I have come to expect from Sweetwater. If you want a Tele with humbuckers but don't want to go into debt, this one is highly recommended. Also, ordered it Wednesday, had it Friday with free shipping. Amazing!

Great Value

The finish looks even better than in the pictures. My son chose this as his first guitar and for the money a bargain.Fit and finish were excellent. The neck isn't thin but not chunky either. No sharp fret ends or fret sprout. The ceramic pickups could be upgraded down the road but sound fine. I bought the same model with a standard finish about a year ago from another store that was rough out of the box so I was leary, but I've since learned always buy from Sweetwater. Ben and his team are the best.

Squire Affinity TELE Deluxe

By TJ Walsh from Tampa Bay, Florida on March 27, 2024 Music Background: 50 years as a professional singer/songwriter.

Honestly I bought this because I didn't want my American TELE going to the beach. Wasn't sure about Squire because since the 60s I played only Fender and Gibson. I, however, am surprised at how nice this guitar plays, sounds and looks! Took very little tweaking before it was ready to gig and I'm certain I will wear it out on the sunny beach's of Florida.
Once again SWEETWATER hits a Home Run!!
